Well when you dislike one movie and that just happens to be the movie that on an unprecedented scale dominates almost every category, then gyeah, you're gonna have a rough night.
Super, super funny :funny: I am happy for the rest of humanity who doesn’t share my opinion, though.

Pretty mad at ABC for forcing American Idol garbage on me when I just want to watch the Oscar aftershow stuff. Sucks not having actual cable to flip to another channel that'll show it.

The hardest I've ever disagreed with the Oscars in a long time and that is saying something. I don't think I agreed with a single win (Quan and Fraser were worthy, just not necessarily my choices).

Really need to see All Quiet though, apparently.
While I very much disagree with your opinion of EEAAO and am very happy about all of its wins (well, except Curtis, whose award ought to have gone to Hsu), I understand and feel your pain. I was ready to throw a chair through the TV in 2011 when the mediocre, sentimental drivel that is the The King's Speech swept all of the big awards over Fincher's masterpiece, The Social Network. :wall:

Congrats to all the winners :beaming::coolguy::modest:

A pretty much pitch perfect award show from start to finish. No notes, a great job from Kimmel hosting. Everyone who won deserved it and the show itself was ACTUALLY about the movies, unlike the last two years.

So happy EEAAO got best picture and a year ago you couldn't tell me it was even possible that it got nominated for several Oscars let alone win most of it and I thought Ke He Quan's speech won the night of speeches.

I thought Cate Blanchett kicked it out of the atmosphere, but, hey, it's all good.

After I saw it, I was, like....

The Curtis win was probably the most disappointing one of the night for me. No offense to her, but it was clearly more for her career than her role in EEAAO specifically. I think most people would agree it should have gone to Bassett or Hsu. The only consolation is that Hsu is young so she’s got plenty of time to get another nomination and possible win (same with Butler). The other winners were pretty predictable.

Same. I mean in the grand scheme of things I'm not bothered by her win, but she was probably the weakest of the nominees in that category.

Colin Farrell would've been my choice for Best Actor, but Fraser was a very close second. His last few scenes in The Whale floored me. So incredibly happy for the guy. And for Quan and Yeoh too. What a satisfying group of winners.

Well I guess there's no avoiding it now, I'm just going to have to watch EEAAO.

Yeoh, Quan and the guy who I assume is the producer had me quite teary with their speeches. A rare, genuine, night at the Oscars.

I don't get as partisan as I used to on these things (arguing about who's deserving), so all I can say is that of the movies I saw, it was one competitive year.

Fabelmans was my favorite of the year but I can’t complain about EEAAO winning. I’m happy for everyone involved.

Fabelmans had zero momentum. It was a box office bomb and didn’t win any major awards prior I think.

The only real surprise for me was Bassett losing. I thought Blanchett was a lock for Tár early on, but it was clear leading up to last night that EEAAO had all the momentum.
