Inhumans ABC's The Inhumans - General Discussion (news, updates, speculation...) - Part 1

Can we consolidate some of the negative threads? Disliking the show is perfectly fine, but there are three of them now?

Making the characters look vaguely like their print counterparts seems to be unimportant to the producers and some folks.

I was actually really excited for this series although I had wanted a big budget movie. What have we seen that now makes us hopeful? Since we've only seen 2 minutes worth of footage you can't judge it yet. But besides Lockjaw's look -- what seems faithful or praise worthy? Crystal's costume and hair and......?

A trailer should be easier to make look good than an entire series, but they didn't manage to do that. I wonder how many more trailers we'll get before September?

I look back at the casting days last year and there was a rumor that Inhumans "starred" Maximus.

Some people described it as a breaking bad type show, with a villain anti hero as the protagonist.

I really wish they followed that idea. It would have saved them alot of money and the story would have been alot more unique than this fish out of water BS.

Maximus pulling strings and manipulating members of the Royal family from week to week. Forming alliances, betrayal etc. Then maybe it leads to the military coup in the final episode.

If so, they are insane. IMAX makes every little flaw and penny-pinching more visible, not less.

I saw the trailer in an actual IMAX theater (before Spider-man!), and it looked no more or less lame than what the TV showed. Which is to say, still pretty lame.

But then again, I was less worried about the trailer than thinking: "Why doesn't this movie start already!"

This isn't going to crash and burn. No question. They should scrap it now

LOL that exclusive picture

Scott Buck's comments about the visuals certainly aren't reflected in the trailer.

Damn, I was super excited about this when it was first announced. I have the hardcover of the Lee/Jenkins 12-issue run, and it would literally be the perfect basis for Marvel to adapt. It was dark, weird, dramatic, engaging… everything an Inhumans property should be. This… this looks so generic.

I think the backlash for this is mostly due to the hype around the show. I personally find it justifiable backlash considering what people expect from TV now. This isn't AoS, or The Flash, or IZombie. It's a show that is debuting in theatres. Much like how Game of Thrones has had episode screenings in theatres. You can't put a show that looks like this in that position.

Probably because it's an eight hour production and we saw two minutes. There's no reason to think all visuals are in the trailer. When it comes to CG, they might not even be finished yet.

If we're talking about locations, I think Hawaii is going to look beautiful. It's freakin' Hawaii. Obviously, Attilan's interior is what we see (I would argue some look better than others), but we don't know what the exterior looks like yet.

It's true that the IMAX aspect raised expectations, but at the same time I think that was a 2/10 trailer by general TV standards. The show itself could turn out better, but I feel like there's a better chance for this to be enjoyable in a so bad it's good way than for it to be otherwise good. It isn't far from there already.

Keep in mind, this is Scott Buck we're talking about here. He probably thinks amazing visuals are scenes of people sitting in boardrooms talking.

Scott Buck should've directed 50 Shades of Grey. There was plenty of that there! :o

Well at least the drawing looks cool.

Gorgon and Triton look inaccurate though.

It'd be cool if Medusa's hair were constantly in motion even at rest.
