We don't know Feige tossed the Inhumans to TV. The whole Feige doesn't care for the Inhumans and Ike was pushing for a movie thing is just a rumor.

Inhumans may not of been a property Feige was the most passionate about but that doesn't mean he was against them having a movie all together.

Kevin Feige said he liked Drew Pearce Runaways script but he just didn't see a place for it in the movies current line up and now that property is a TV series.

Realistically Marvel and the other studios can only produce so many movies a year without pushing into over saturation territory. Not every character is going to get a movie trilogy.

We may never know for certain, but I doubt very much we would be getting a Scott Buck ABC miniseries if an Inhumans movie was part of Kevin Feige's tentative movie plans running through 2028. After the split between Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment MCU characters are either on TV or in the movies, not both.

No, but they need to put some of this stuff on the backburner. They're eventually gonna need to dip their toes into some of the lesser known properties, and I'd hate for them to have wasted them on unnecessary TV shows. Now, if they're quality, that's one thing, but if for every DD we get an Inhumans...just leave it be and come back to it later.

Spy shows and violent street vigilantes are a great fit for ABC and Netflix, respectively And relatively low powered angsty teen heroes are a solid choice for Freeform and Hulu. But royal drama featuring high powered alien hybrids living on a moon base was always going to be a tough go on a broadcast network.

Exactly..... Marvel and James Gunn do seem to be hinting at that Guardians of the Galaxy cosmic cinematic universe as the future of the MCU. You would think Fiege would save the Inhumans for that.

The royal family make for a damn good group of antagonists and would have been a great fit in a future Guardians, Avengers, Captain Marvel, Nova or Thor film. Hopefully Buck's efforts don't take them completely off the table.

That's pretty much why I said just leave it be and reexamine it later possibly when plans have changed or they just needed something a little different. How popular are the Inhumans anyway? I haven't actually read comics in ages. It's too expensive to keep up with, so I really don't know how bankable of a project it was to begin with.

The Inhumans have been around for decades, but primarily as supporting characters. They've gotten a push in recent years since the live action rights of X-Gene powered individuals were with FOX and terrigen filled the role of super-power delivery device for new characters like Ms. Marvel.

A show featuring the core Inhumans would always be a tough fit. Royal Drama is a great fit for serialized storytelling but you can't present a fully powered elemental (among others) on a network budget. I would have been great to see a gateway character like Crystal or Lockjaw (or both!) introduced in an MCU flick with their family issues taking center stage if the demand warranted a major motion picture. Hopefully we'll get rebooted versions after a respectable period of mourning.

Black Bolt can't speak without ****ing everything up too right? I mean...it's kinda hard to build a show around a guy that can't speak. I assume he isn't all that interesting? I guess that gives everyone else a chance to shine, but someone like me who isn't exactly in the know could be really put off by that.

They are using modified sign language on the show, but the comics work around it by having him communicate with his thoughts and through Medusa. They also surround him with wordy folks like Maximus and his fellow Illuminati. The show previews made it seem like Black Bolt will be on his own for a while, which ain't great.

So a mute main character spending significant chunks of screen time alone? Hmm...yeah...

Blackbolt has a telepathic link with his family in the comics. Medusa is his mouthpiece.

Good actors are able to convey a lot of character without dialogue.
Mel Gibson only had sixteen lines in Mad Max Road Warrior and a couple of those hwere that he only came for the oil.

The Inhumans would have room for phase four, five and six, especially its unlikely that they would get the film rights for the X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

They could always ignore the TV show if they want.

The comics pick and choose continuity all the time. They retcon things, change things, ignore things or whatever. The movies will have to change eventually. Characters could get recast eventually. They might do soft resets eventually. They already have with some of the actors. Who is to say they couldn't do it with Inhumans too if they really wanted? I'm not saying like in two years, but maybe like 10 years? Who knows

Since Disney feels they are too good for Netflix, I can't see the Marvel shows there going on for much longer. Those characters will just be in limbo for many years until Marvel Studios feels like using them.

That's good news to me since I find it tedious to finish most of Marvel Netflix shows. I prefer them to be in the movies and then interact with the Avengers.

Yeah, I doubt Disney/Marvel will put another series on Netflix after Punisher. My guess is the next series is launched in 2019 on the new streaming service (along with a Star Wars live action series).

Which, to get to the topic at hand, once again shows what a missed opportunity the ABC Inhumans show is shaping up to be. Marvel TV should have waited to 2019, pumped up the budget, got Kevin Feige involved, and launched Inhumans as the Disney streaming service's version of Star Trek: Discovery. Have it be the first Marvel TV show with direct ties to the feature films and make this every bit a "must see" event as the cinematic MCU offerings. It's frustrating to think how poorly this has been handled.

did they not care so long as the show debuted on Imax and as such they'd just burn off the 8 episodes whenever?

I suspect they picked Friday because they expect it to do better in delayed viewing, digital sales, and streaming and decided it was better to put it in a timeslot with lower expectations. I also think they picked the time slot for Agents of SHIELD first and put this one there afterward.

They wouldn't air this in a Friday night if they were hoping it to be the next Marvel craze. Despite being renewed, Aos was one of their lower rated veteran shows and now its moving to Friday just like ouat. While I get that sense that ABC doesn't have a huge confidence to the Inhumans. Like they wouldn't air it in a good timeslot that is already taken by one of their stronger shows. While Sunday was a bad night for them last season and they already moved Shark Tank for that day to save it, so that just left them Friday and the 10pm Tuesday slot which isn't a good timeslot for ABC's new shows. Though if it was up to me, I would air this after Dwts though not sure if it would perform than Quantico.

I don't get why they couldn't have waited. For either spring 2018 or summer 2018 or Fall 2018. No need to rush a big budget tv series. or did IMAX have certain guidelines they had to meet?
