Borat nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay?!

yes! Dreamgirls failed!!!

Why are you so happy?! BTW, I'm glad Monster House was nominated for Best Animated Film. That was my favorite animated film this year.

Glad to see Pan's Labyrinth get the nod for something.

BULLCRAP! Dreamgirls was snubbed from Film, Director and Screenplay!? It pwns Chicago and that took home Film.

Then again, Harvey Weinstein did some under-the-table deals to make that happen...

Bill Condon, be more corrupt!

I'm mad. Sunshine? Ha. GO J-HUD!

Babel better take Best Picture or I will destroy someone.

Chill, dude. :yay:

Little Miss Sunshine does not deserve anything it has. That film was awful and does not deserve the praise and attention it gets.

Good to see Pan's Labyrinth up for something.

Go Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy. May Dreamgirls also win Best Song for one of the 3 songs. It'd be crazy for it not too.

I'm also kinda shocked to see Meryl Streep nominated for a Oscar for Devil. Devil wasn't really what you'd call an Oscar style film. Sure, she won't win. Helen probably will, but still shocking.

BEST ACTOR
Leonardo DiCaprio – BLOOD DIAMOND/THE DEPARTED
Ryan Gosling – HALF NELSON
Peter O’Toole – VENUS
Will Smith – THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS
Forest Whitaker – THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND

Leo was only nominated for "Blood Diamond" not for both films

So, any predictions?

Um...I'll try my best. Best Picture will be between Babel and Little Miss Sunshine. Not sure yet which one would win. If it were up to me I would choose The Departed. But, I doubt the film will win.

Best actor will be Forest Whitaker.
Best Actress will be Helen Mirren
Supporting will MOST LIKELY be Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson

As for director...I'm pretty sure it'll be Scorsese's year unless Eastwood pulls another upset. :o

And, um, I can see Pirates 2 beating Superman and Posideon for the Visual Effects award.

Academy rule is that you can only get one nomination per category.

2000

Best Director

• Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot)
• Ang Lee (Tigre y dragón)
• Steven Soderbergh (Erin Brockovich)
• Steven Soderbergh (Traffic)
• Ridley Scott (Gladiator)

Martin better not get robbed again.... this is what... 6 times now a nominee..

Best Picuture: I hope The Departed but Babel will Win

Actor: Forest Whitaker

Actress: Kate Winslet

Supporting Actor: I hope Whalberg but Eddie Murphy will win

Supporting woman: Abigail Breslin

Director: Matrin Scorsese (this time he deserves it)

Original Screen Play: Michael Arndt

Adapted: William Monahan

Best Foreing Film- El Laberinto del Fauno

I would honestly like to see Whitaker take home an Oscar this time. The man has been in the business for a minute, and never really falls flat in any roles as far as I have seen. And Marty needs to take one home as well...way, WAY overdue.

you sure about that?

Yeah. You can get multiple nominations like lets say someone wrote/directed/acted in a film. That person can get three nominations. One for each. BUT, if someone acted in two films that person can only get one nomination for the acting category. You get what I'm saying?

This is BS. The Fountain didn't get a nom for Best Original Score? BOOOOOOOOO......
