^ No-one has yet been able to actually give me an answer as to why FOX would shift/alter the timeline so that the events of Origins: Wolverine (possibly), the OXT and The Wolverine either don't happen at all or happen differently when, to this point, they've been striving to establish and maintain a fairly cohesive singular continuity.

Because that's kind of how DoFP works. . . LOL

In every adaptation either the future is saved, changed for the worse, or turned into an alternate timeline that coexists with the established timeline.

Possibly. Part of me feels that they're going to save Scott/Jean for the post-timeline changed future.

Agreed.

Exactly.

You erase the dystopian future of DoFP by changing the past and stopping whatever caused said dystopian future to happen from happening; you don't erase the entirety of four or possibly five films by preventing whatever caused the dystopian future to happen from happening.

Please explain how the cast of First Class changes the dystopian future that takes place after the events of the original trilogy, without changing the events of the original trilogy. Otherwise, what is this talk of clean up, time travel, and multiverses, if a changed or alternate universe doesn't occur in some form or another???

They are not going to do that.for Bryan Singer to try to play fix up with DOFP
says they won't be doing the copout throwing out all films except for first class and past scenes of DOFP.

Mark Millar had compared the wolverine to Iron Man.The idea that a year later
fox would say well guess what The wolverine never happened.

Star Trek was a case so they could tell stories about OS characters,Abrams
doesn't like prequels,and paramount's marketing wouldn't take a dive with
pissed off Trekkers.

some are just so ankious for X-men to join the reboot club.

Alright, couple things. First, Singer sees all x-men films as canon so you can have your opinion of ignoring a movie, but that isn't what the filmmakers are doing. Second, we haven't seen The Wolverine or DOFP yet, so we don't know what is going to happen in them. To use movies as points to argue with, when you haven't seen them, is pointless. I'm happy that Bryan Singer is taking control and making all films canon... There are weaknesses and strengths to all x-men films. That's the truth.

Basically they can explain it by being divergent timelines. Thus big events happening at different times.

Thats what I think will happen. Its like 616 and Ultimate.

There Is no connection between 616 and ultimate universes.

Have you ever watched Sliders? In the tv show you have multiple earths that are all simliar except for tiny or major details that make them a different earth. Thats how they can make the X-Men franchise make sense.

Edit. Bryan Singer said he talked about multiverses to James Cameron. So I think thats the direction he's heading in to fix the continuity.

You know an idea that kind of excites me, that I think they may go with? So in the beginning of The Last Stand, we have the wonderful most hated scene where a younger version of Magneto and a younger walking version of Professor X are walking to go meet with young Jean for the first time. This breaks continuity in two ways; first, Magneto and Professor X are enemies right? Second, Professor X is walking.

At the end of First Class, Magneto did part ways with Charles but they are by no means enemies yet. You also see this at the beginning of the first X-men. So, why couldn't Magneto and Professor X join up again? There is no reason, in fact it almost makes sense for their to be a forgive and be reconciled period with Professor X and Magneto. Now as far as Professor X walking, that's another matter. But I think Magneto and Professor X may still be friends at some time after First Class. But we shall see.

That's about as bad Idea as treating trilogy, first Class, and wolverine film as seperate film series. That gives no connection between films.

With all the continuity errors it might as well be a different film series.:o:whatever:

I guess it depends on where the event is.... Is it an event in the 60s? A series of events that lead up to a big event? An event from fc, x1, X2, X3? Singers new comment makes me wonder if its a series of events... Basically fixing the major issues with the entire franchise....

Like.... What if Xaiver didn't get shot in FC, What if senator Kelly wasn't killed in X1, what if Magneto didn't attack with dark cerebro in X2? What if xaviers "mental dam" didn't break inX2 and jean didn't die? What if no one took the cure in X3? Etc.....

only guy who didn't get to shine was cyclops imo everyone else had their moments

Even Cyclops had his moments in X2 and X1. His rivalry with Wolverine in X1 and his reaction to Jean Grey's death in X2. Its not like he disappeared throughout the entire movie and did nothing when he was on screen.

Thank God! And its really a disrespect to ignore X3/Origins just because they sucked. If there's a bad movie in the series, you deal with it and try to do a better job in the next films and not ignore them and pretend they don't exist anymore.

I wonder if we will be seeing cable and/or bishop? They're sorta the go to time travelers...

If X-M Origins isnt being ignored, that could leave an opening for Gambit to join the FC cast, maybe they have him as the assassin as a tribute to the cartoon.

Not sure if this was posted already but here's Colussus:

@danielcudmore: Thanks for all the questions about Days Of Future Past, I would love to work on it, but that's up to the powers that be..

I really want to see Bishop in this one because I think they could easily include him in the story. But I feel like every time they announce a returning actor to be appear in the movie, the chances of getting a new character or a new X-Men is getting slimmer. I would love to see a new X-Men in the future.

We should get at least one new character

Wrong. In last summer's Spider-Men mini-series 616 Pete crossed over to the Ultimate Universe and met Miles Morales.

Also the original Squadron Supreme have visited both Ultimate (Ultimate Power) and 616 realities.

Also also Marvel Zombies have appeared in both realities.

So there's three connections.

Who says he has to resurrect Cyclops??....

It is looking increasingly likely that the future events o f DoFP will be post-TLS, so the only way for Famke and James to be involved would be for Singer to resurrect their characters.

We didn't see Cyclops die or a body so who says they have to resurrect Scott?....

Honestly, I think it's pretty clear that Cyclops was killed by Phoenix. Considering she said she killed him, and that was the reason she went insane.

She was already nuts. There are any number of ways around it, if they choose to bring him back. And they better. :argh:
