Actors who you want to "wait and see" if they are any good

I forget who Rachel Weisz is, but Angelina Jolie isn't at that level of hottness. She's pretty but she's not like exceptionally hott. One trip out of the house and you'll probably see several women who are hotter than Angelina Jolie.

She was in Enemy at the Gates and the first two Mummy films.

I'm still wanting to give Sam Worthington a chance. He wasn't great but wasn't that bad in Terminator Salvation. Yeah he let his accent slip a lot but I didn't hear it as much as some people said in Avatar.

Clash of the Titans won't be a good example either, which is why I hope one of his next films is something a bit more dramatic and less action oriented. A drama would be a better role to show if he can handle a performance needed for that kind of film. If he does do one in the near future and still doesn't impress me, I'm just going to write him off as the next somewhat big action star.

Actually, he's exactly the same in his drama roles. I've seen his non-action Australian drama roles and he plays them exactly the same. He's kinda just there while all the drama happens around him. A character actor he is not. Now, that's fine if you have movie star charisma like Mel Gibson, but not that great when you don't and I don't think Worthington has much charisma.

Hopefully for him he can work with the right director that can pull something good out of him in the future. Otherwise he really is just going to be another action star who can't do much else.

im still waiting to see how joseph gordon-levitt does in Inception
You know I love you right? But this post is ridiculous to me.

He has already proven that he is one of the greatest young actors working today.

Watch the amazing IMHO "The Look Out" And then do yourself a favor and watch "Brick too." He was also good in "Stop-Loss" and believe it or not "GI-f**king-Joe."

You are entitled to whatever conlusion you reach after watching those flicks but I don't see how you are going to reach and different conclusion than I.

^Please see them.

I liked Brick quite a bit but I find it to be a little overrated myself I loved The Look Out much more.

Tatum now hear me out people go watch Guide to Recognizing your saints he was great in that movie

omid you must watch Brick. I still need to watch The Lookout though.

I remember being very fond of this film when I was very young. But I haven't seen it in years. How does it rate? The scene that always stuck out to me was when the little boy was hanged and the Joseph Fiennes pretended to be dead when Nazis were shooting dead bodies and the russian charge itself.

He was the best thing about that whole film in my opinion.

It was one of those films that I bought without ever seeing it because I heard a lot of good things about it. I remember liking it but it's been too long since I last watched it.

I guess all I can say is to give it another chance since the last time you watched it was when you were younger. The russian charge was a pretty good war scene, especially when Jude Law's character Vassili starts sniping the Nazi's from that old water fountain he's hiding in.

The cast is pretty damn good too. Jude Law, Joseph Fiennes, Ed Harris, Rachel Weisz, Bob Hoskins and Ron Perlman.

Please... for the love of God... Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a great actor but stop using G.I. Joe as a reference for his acting ability. Even if you thought he was good in that, there are much, MUCH better examples of his skill. I know that you guys also mentioned a few of those (Brick, The Lookout) but please stop bringing up G.I. Joe. I just want to forget he was in that awful movie.

I brought up that movie because I was trying to say that he was even good in crap.

I would never really compare his performance in that tripe to his real perfomances.

That's good to hear. :D Sorry, didn't mean to call ya out there... I'm just trying really hard to repress the memory of that horrible movie.

:hehe: I'm not going to be defending GI JOE so feel free to hate.

I honestly thought that it was mostly boring. I hate movies that are nothing but (bad) action scenes and Tatum gave the worse performance of the year, he made Megan Fox look like Judi Dench. He was so bad that my sister refuses to believe that he is anything but a terrible actor.

And yes I know I am kinda off topic.

:hehe: He may have given the worst lead performance I've ever seen. I think he might have been worse than the "Garbage Day!" guy from Silent Night Deadly Night 2. At least that dude was trying.

Tatum should star in a remake of that movie. Now THAT would be worth watching.

Regarding Tatum:

Looks like none of you have seen Stop-Loss or A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. Oh well, more than half of you here in the Misc Film section are overly critical and watch Ebert & Roepert with the wish of "being them". I hate overly critical people. Going beyond the necessary amount of discussing a movie or actor.

I have seen Stop-Loss. Forgive me for not being overly impressed. Haven't seen "Saints" but I have seen G.I. Joe, Step Up and Fighting. Let me ask you something. When you see an actor turn in bad to mediocre performances in multiple films, regardless of their quality, does that motivate you to go seek out more of their work?

Also, as far as hating all of us who are so terribly critical, I've seen you voice your opinion about certain actors that haven't impressed you. Get off your goddamned high horse.

1). No you.
2). Everyone seems to throw all the blame for G.I Joe on Tatum, it was a movie destined to be bad from the beginning, sure it was bad and so was Tatum but he's also still an up and coming star in the most sense. Some actors go through Hell before they find their break-out performances, Tatum hasn't. Sure Stop-Loss and AGTRYS were good but they don't make up for his other terrible roles. But give the guy a chance, he has at least proved himself a decent actor in AGTRYS, not terrible like everyone wants him to be.
3). Get off my high horse? Seriously? How old are you?

All three of which are terrible, terrible movies with utterly crap writing and directing.

Tatum was good in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. In fact him and Shia LeBeef were the best things about that movie. Which shows that when given PROPER film roles and directed by someone competent, they can both be good actors.

Plus you know Oliver Stone cast Tatum in Pinkville. Oliver Stone doesn't usually cast people who don't have any talent.
