Actors You Just Can't Stand.

Darn near everything is subjective on some level. But I have to say, by any objective acting standard, Brad Pitt has proven himself to be a good actor.

There was a time he was average, and capable of a decent performance now and then, but he has gotten much, much better over the years. SE7EN is the turning point, in my mind. He was still playing himself to a point, but he was starting to learn subtleties. SEVEN YEARS IN TIBET helped him in that regard too, and I really think MEET JOE BLACK is one of the best romantic dramas out there because of his performance (and Hopkins, of course). He is fantastic in it. He used his charismatic side to perfection in FIGHT CLUB and OCEANS ELEVEN, and has shown a pretty good range throughout his career. Love SPY GAME, where Pitt, who is essentially mini-Redford, and Redford, had fantastic chemistry together. Even in TROY, which was not the best written or executed film, he gave a pretty good physical performance, whether you think he was miscast or not. He was overshadowed in JESSE JAMES, but he was still very good in it, and BENJAMIN BUTTON was a leap forward in almost every sense.

All you have to do is look at the types of films he is asked to be in to see that the industry considers him a good actor as well. This is someone who hasn't been remotely typecast, and who's been offered a range of films. Remember, he was the original choice for THE FOUNTAIN as well. He's not just a box office draw, he's a talented actor.

The best ever? No. But he's consistently solid these days, and capable of being very, very good just as much as someone like Tom Hanks, Nicholson or Freeman are capable of being average. I think some people just don't like him. Which is ok, as this thread is "actors you just can't stand".

Nicholas Cage is capable of being a good actor, but he doesn't have a lot of range, and has to have roles cast around him. He's a movie star first and foremost these days. He picks big movies to star in, but not good ones.

Leonardo Dicaprio! I avoid his movies whenever possible.

Damn, you are really missing out then dude.

Yeah, man -- you missed The Aviator, Blood Diamond, Gangs of New York.. wait. You're doing the right thing.

Uh, The Departed? Probably one of his best roles.

And The Aviator was amazing. And so was his performance.

Critters 3 was definitely his best role :awesome: :oldrazz:

Gilbert Grape was easily his best role.

That or the 1 episode he was in on the roseanne tv show.

Yes, his performance in Gilbert Grape is incredible. Love him or hate him, that is in fact a great performance.

Dude best scene in your avy "DO YOU WANNA JUMP?! DO YOU WANNA?! WELL LETS DO IT!!"

I can't stand him. He's just a pretty boy who gets roles because of his dimples. Granted I used to think the same thing about Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp. But after seeing The Devil's Own and Sleepy Hollow respectively I've come to like them. I still avoid their earlier works like the plague though. I'll only ever watch a Leonardo Decapitated movie if I'm watching it specifically to see one of his costars. Only reason why I suffered through The Man In The Iron Mask is because I love swashbuckling movies. Maybe "suffered through" is a little harsh. I quite enjoyed the performance of the four musketeers. Leo on the other hand sucked doggy d**k.

lol i agree... though i actually dont mind dicaprio...his movies arent anything special.

He's just not the leading man kinda guy for me.. he was great in titanic and that was a supporting role.

Leonardo Decapitated

lmao... where did this new random nickname come from:hehe:

oh god yeah i forgot about man in the iron mask.. he was terrrrible in that!

i hope when his company makes a twiliht zone movie he's not in it... or at least not a main character.

I thought Di Caprio was actually really good in Titanic. Tough part to play imo.

How can people not like Blood Diamond?!? Great film. And great performance by Leo. *shakes head in disgust*

Or what about The Departed? Yea he's just a pretty boy, can't act at all...

Never said he was just a pretty boy. I don't even think he's pretty. He's just not my type :o

:hehe: That wasn't aimed at you guv.

But I mean if all he is, is a pretty boy, a face, he would of faded away ages ago. Eventually these actors or actresses who are only famous being good looking fade away, people catch on. Leo has been in the industry for aaaggggeeesss. Which means, he is more than just a face.

Look at someone like Megan Fox. Her acting career will be dried up within 5 years. She's just a fad.

Danny Dyer, he might single handedly be the worst actor of all time.

:hehe: He plays the same character in EVERY SINGLE ONE of his movies. That character usually being himself. So he doesn't ever really act.

The only half decent acting performance I've seen him do was in Outlaw.
