The Dark Knight Rises Adapting Robin

That's right, Bale wont play Batman in a movie with Robin, but he had no problem auditioning for the role of Robin himself about 10 years ago.

Man that's ironic! Why does he have such a distaste for the character? Maybe he doesn't want to split screen time and neither do I want him to.

You know, I think I like all the ideas discussed recently, but I'm strongly against an armored costume for Grayson. I don't see how kid-size armor can be acquired without causing a problem, either drawing attention, having to deal with Fox's dissapproval of a kid Batman or just logistical difficulty.

I'd much, MUCH rather go with a ninja-style costume and leave Robin as a runner as opposed to a direct combatant. Even if Armor is somehow acquired, it limits Dick's acrobaticness, and thusly, must be put aside.

I think if the red is a touch from Dick (a bright red vest, perhaps from the circus, over his ninja getup) with a custom-made R-shuriken that he puts on, I think that the red could be bright, perhaps part of a decoy-strategy of his. But Batman cant' put a bright red anything on the kid... I just don't buy it... in fact, I don't really see Batman putting anything but black on this kid... even for training.

Did Bale really audition for Robin or those were just rumors? as in IMDB rumors.

IMDB is very good about news, after the fact. They are just not good at "News Rumors"

I'm partial to Jim Lee's take of a new Robin concept.

Yea, a Robin suit based off that Lee design would do well in the film were he brought into the Nolan franchise.

I really like the idea of a cape with a hood, though with nolan's asthetic it'd have to be more of a rain poncho type thing, something like that would look great on film IMO, robin crouched on a ledge in the rain on a reconnissance mission for bats, also if it was black on the outside at least it'd quell the whole "why is he wearing bright colours?" argument

Indeed, the look works. I also like how with the redesigned "cape", can look a lot like Robin Hood.

Sadly, we'll never see Robin with Nolan at the helm. He said so himself, and to be honest, I don't think he'd be suitable for adapting him.

The cape and hood could be a good throwaway/easter egg type thing... but what would be the fuctional aspect of the cape and hood?

To conceal his face more in the dark, and for the times when it's rainy. :o

See, if he wanted to conceal his face, he'd obviously get a full face mask... why get a hood instead?

Now to stop the rain I could understand... I think if Robin's costume was more pieced together by him on the fly for a single action sequence it would be believable where as Batman designing him a costume to any specifications other than the ones he uses himself, not to mention getting a kid-size military ARMOR, would be unbelievable...

Oh shnap! Someone's opinion on something changed between 10 years ago and now! We all know that such a thing never really happens with normal people who don't act!

Because we're trying to stay close to the source material here. Not everything's gonna work perfect. :oldrazz:

A hood.....?

what if Robins costume allowed him to pose as a degenerate bum? A dark cape/cloak with a hood and all his crimefighting gear underneath. He could move around and people would pay no attention to him.

I want Nolan's Batman to be Batman centric. If fans want some background of the Joker there's no time to accomodate Robin.
We still have a long way to get to know Bruce.

Yep ^ It'd be totally batty to think otherwise. It'd be robbin the chances of a good film. Only a joker would disagree!

:O

The main reason I hate Robin in the Batman film largely it will reopen the gay jokes again. We already had to deal with Jokeback Batman so adding
Robin will be gay overload.

...because adding another male under Batman's home would instantly mean homosexual undertones.

I do hope that you do understand the stupidity of such a comment and will try harder in the future to avoid making such self incriminating statements so that you do not further destroy what respect, credibility or magic powers you may or may not at one point had.

As far as i'm concerned, Dick Grayson is the only robin that should appear. Having jason or tim appear before dick would be ridiculous.

I agree, but I also feel that there are some strengths to Jason and Tim that should be absorbed into "Robin Begins." Particularly, Jason's hardness and jaded cynicism and Tim's cleverness and independence.

If we have time to deal with Gordon, we have time to deal with Dick Grayson, at least out of costume.

Speaking of "Robin Begins" what is the concesus on a solo Robin movie (with Batman as a supporting character?)

Adding Robin would completely cut the dark grittiness from TDK.

Ah... like it does in comics... Oh wait... it doesn't do that in the comics. Heh. Interesting. Perhaps you should research your point of view.
