She needs to start joining her sticks together and using them to pole vault. Also, they really ought to have that spring-loaded wrist band she had in her classic costume where it could actually fire off those battle staves like projectiles which could hit people unsuspectingly. At the moment they're pretty much like ordinary sticks which she doesn't even seem to use all that much.

She is....its not Hydra related.....to me...it would be played out to have her as a double or triple agent.....but to have her reporting to Clint aka Hawkeye or Stark....would be priceless

and its about time Code names need to come into play.....

I think Mockingbird's fighting skills have been rather disappointing so far. Sure, she had a few moments in her debut and a little bit in the episode following, but she's hardly used her signature staves at all. Even when she does use them, she seems rather slow with them and doesn't hit people in a flurry of strikes. What's more, she hasn't joined her staves together to form a bo and there's no evidence that they can join together and that she will do that.

I don't think her fighting has been on par with Caity Lotz's Canary's in Arrow. Not only was Caity more acrobatic, but her fighting skills were clearly better, faster and more dynamic. She really seemed more deadly and continued to use her weapon of choice on a consistent basis. Bobbi just doesn't do that at all. I don't see her as any different from someone like Agent May, who could probably fare just as well with those staves.

From your scenario above I would say most likely she's reporting to Fury/or Hill. The interesting thing is what ever it is or what ever she's up to Mac knows/knew about it as well

Agreed.Apart from her first two episodes,she's frankly been a bit of a disappointment.They need to make her stand out more.A more accurate costume would go a long ways in helping that.

Although I like Adrianne Palicki, I think one of the problems is that she's too tall, so it makes it harder to buy her as a gymnast/ acrobat. They are usually a bit shorter and definitely quicker on their feet. Adrianne seems a bit slow at times. Her fighting skills aren't even quick-fire like Black Widow's.

Even when she did use her staves when she was disguised as that Hydra security chief, she was still a bit slow swinging them around. Martial artists who use similar weapons are much faster.

I feel that if you put those staves in the hands of May or Natasha, both of them would probably be much faster with them and more convincing, and use their acrobatic abilities more at the same time.

Watch Bruce Lee fighting with sticks from about 2.07 minutes. Look how fast he is with them, first of all with the bo, and then later with the double sticks before he uses the nunchakus:

Yes, I know it's Bruce Lee, but I've seen other martial artists using them with great skill too and just as fast. Mockingbird's stick fighting should be reminiscent of this at least.

She's still badass. so much for vouching for a character you start liking a lot and then that feeling goes to poop. Blah, whatever, I still love Adrianne as Bobbi Morse.

I don't think the stunt crew or trainers have analyzed Palicki's mechanics - for example when filming Salt the trainers noted that Jolie was long limbed and needed a fighting style part Krav Magar to leverage the force of her long limbs. But they didn't want her style to be too many wide arcs with big swings and kicks - if you look at how Jolie fights in Salt you can see they've given her a nice combination of Bourne style close fight where her elbows and knees work well because of her long bones and the occasional long wide arc for example when she's pistol whipping someone.

I don't think that much attention has gone into the AoS fight scenes

Improving the fight scenes would take the series up a notch as it would make the agents taking down a "gifted" individual far more believable


Someone also mentioned that Caity Lotz fought better as Black Canary. The ironies here are:

1 - Caity Lotz is a martial artist
2 - The Arrow incarnation of Black Canary was more Mockingbird than Black Canary

The first one's not ironic. Caity Lotz fought better because she is a martial artist. That makes total sense (and there's nothing wrong with Black Canary fighting well). I do agree that bringing in a specialist to help Adrianne Palicki wouldn't hurt, though. I thought her first scene with the staves walking down the hall was quite good, but she hasn't really lived up to that since.

I don't really keep up with famous actors or actresses, so I don't know who I'd pick, but I know that I wasn't feeling the Palicki announcement. It's a shame that Katheryn Winnick is already on a series (but maybe she can be Captain Marvel instead). The only other actress that I know of who is a true black belt type is a very little known indie/low budget movie actress named Seri Deyoung, who is cute as all get out, but not a great actress. Like I said, I dont keep up with Hollywood outside of Horror films and superheroes.

Part of the issue is that thus far Bobbi has not been presented as the best fighter on the team. Blacklash almost killed Hawkeye, so May took him on and beat him while Bobbi and Hunter were exchanging quips in the next room.

I like May...I really do. But Mockingbird takes precedence over her. If you have to kill May in order to spotlight Mockingbird more in fight scenes, then do it. The actress could always stick around as Agent 33 for another season.
