Did anyone else think the Black Widow character was awful in this?In The Winter Soldier she was awesome, cool looking, and was a bad ass.In this movie, her costume looks horrible with all that neon blue in it,she doesn't do any cool fighting moves,no cool gadgets, and her character just seemed to be a waste of space.

Maybe Whedon doesn't know how to use her and make her cool.

The clear solution is to have Cap's shield be made of a totally unique Adamantium/Vibranium alloy, but the MCU can't use that.

They could have just said that the shield was "an alloy, mostly based on vibranium" and saved themselves some trouble in the future.

She definitely wasn't at her best. The softening of her character, being all super-in-love with Banner (even my girlfriend liked her better in TWS for that) and putting feelings before the mission, didn't help.

But she was great in the Seoul chase working with Clint and Steve :yay:

Probably my least favorite Avenger in the film, but didn't hate her at all. Still had some great moments. I dug her alot more in Avengers 1 so I don't think its a case Whedon not knowing how to use her. Just was trying to switch her up, and show us a side of her we have not seen.

I'm really shocked Whedon was able to give all these guys as much attention as they had. Not an easy task at all.

He does deserve credit, but it clearly took his toll on him even more than the first one.

I actually dont think Whedon gets enough credit for these movies.

Writing a script with this many characters and just having it be coherent is an achievement in and of itself. Not to mention giving each character their due and also happening to make the greatest CBM ever (at least for The Avengers).

Agreed. Just reading through here and other boards there's multiple favorites not just one or two. Which just shows how much all these characters are making an impact with fans.

The communication between these members is just friggin fantastic! It's the most important thing for me in what I want to see in a team movie. They are constantly giving updates and orders, not just fighting on their own. Which makes this film extremely engaging. They make the effort to help civilians as well as themselves. Which is a big reason why I thought Hawkeye was the heart of the film and ultimately the most important this go around down to that last scene with Quicksilver. These guys were just constantly saving people and knew the score. Iron Man's whole motivation for Ultron plays into this extremely solid as well Vision. While I don't know yet if I liked this film more then the first, I think it's a better film about what superheros need to do and what they stand for if that makes sense.

It's just insane to me that a movie like this can exist. Never thought growing up that we would have all this on screen, with so much of it working. The job of the writer on these films is so much more difficult then the solos, it can't be just about that one character someone liked in Winter Soldier or Iron Man1. This thing has to put out on everyone. And with minor complaints this film did that and then some. Can't get that anywhere else other then a Marvel crossover movie.

One question I have....

Did Thanos send an Ultron like virus that would eventually take form and evolve into a sentient being on earth? Not specifically Ultron, we just lucked out and that's how it entered our world, via Stark/Banner. He did give Loki the scepter knowing it would end up on earth...

Everything suggests that you are right...

Yea I think we can all agree that Thanos had a hand in the creation of Ultron. Or he at least had some influence over him. Like I mentioned, the movie really implies that Thanos had a role with Ultron. And of course, Thor making the reference that someone is playing the Avengers like pawns. Thanos will probably have some influence in Thor Rangnork and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 leading into Infinity War.

I totally agree with you! Thanos' virus from scepter corrupted Starks and Banners pilot program...
I just hope they will explain it more in Infinity War...

But no one other than the Avengers know that Tony and Bruce were behind Ultron. Everyone probably thought they were saving the day because they did. They somehow got everyone one out of the city.

Are you serious?

Stark was at one point the biggest weapons manufacturer on the planet. Tony had already been using using the Iron Legion (with the Avengers logo emblazoned on their chest) around the globe. There were lots of Ultron droids left scattered around the globe, Ultron was all over the place via the internet so much so that even Nick Fury said he could be found "everywhere".

It'd be absurd for people NOT to know Stark was responsible.

Sitting in the theater now for my showing, sporting my Cap symbol shirt. So exciteddddddd know I'm gonna love it. :woot:

I'm jumping from thread to thread at such a furious pace that I'm afraid I might forget.

Somebody got kicked off for a week because s/he made that mistake. If you're going to make a mistake, better to make it on the safe side. Having never made a mistake (just ask my wife if you don't believe me :whatever:), I don't worry about such things.

Is it like playing the commercials now? Those that appear before the trailers?

That's the problem with giving Ultron a Vibranium body, IMO. If the metal lives up to its reputation, he would be essentially impossible to destroy and obviously he needs to be destroyed. But if he is damaged like he was in AoU, it cheapens the status of Cap's shield.

The clear solution is to have Cap's shield be made of a totally unique Adamantium/Vibranium alloy, but the MCU can't use that.

I was expecting Vision's phasing powers to be pivotal to destroying Ultron's vibranium form. Still, at least it took the power of an Infinity Gem to damage him.

Commercials just on now, 10:30 is the showing so a few more commercials then I'm turning my phone off

I don't think Ultron had a fully vibranium body. Most of it went into the creation of Vision and that thing he was using the lift Sokovia, whatever was left over went into his creation. I doubt there was enough to make his entire body out of vibranium .

Previews starting in a few check in with you folks later!

Agreed. She was nothing more than a love interest for Bruce Banner, and in the end, both she and Banner as characters suffered from this crap. I'd like to know where was Feige during all of this. Stuff like this is the reason why CEO's should think twice before giving a director free rein to do whatever he wants, this is particularly troublesome when the movie in question is part of a bigger world.

How come Ironman doesn't have his trademark ACDC song with his intro anymore? Did ACDC refuse to allow Disney from using their music or something?

I expect the Avengers team to be assembled and under his watch in CW. At the start at least. They'll be what SHIELD was in WS.
