Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - 3x09 - "Closure" - Discussion Thread

Coulson just pulled a Cap.

I feel like he still has some serious velocity problems there.

I do find it hard to believe they have not gotten one Avenger to appear on the show...I did read that Renner said he would be willing to appear.

I thought you wanted an Avenger? :woot:

I don't want next week to be the winter finale. :(

Everybody puts in a good word about warning to appear, even Downey, but that doesn't mean they want to appear (unless it's the right circumstances). That means right story, right schedule, right pay.

And, honestly, what's the point of Hawkeye appearing here? How does that address your concerns. It's not like he's any bigger of a gun than what they have. More importantly, Hawkeye should appear for a story that fits Hawkeye. Instead, this story is setting up the Secret Warriors. The most logical story path is the one they took.

Plus, it's not like they have the Avengers on speed dial. The only one who conceivably could is Coulson.

Plus, according to Fury (and me), Coulson is an Avenger.

If all of those actors appeared, the episode would have an eight figure budget. They don't work for free.

Coulson just pulled a Cap.

I was thinking the same thing!

And Coulson is 100% an Avenger. And I bet the Avengers would agree.

Most of this episode was spent in anxiety and going WTF.

And if you want to get all comic book on this thing, Quake has been an Avenger and is arguably on their power tier in the MCU already anyway.

I must admit that I was disappointed by this episode...but that is only because I have spent all week thinking that this was the mid-season finale and that we'd see some huge events go down. My stupidity aside, good episode. I agree that it feels weird that the Avengers weren't even mentioned, considering that the fate of the entire world depends on the success of this mission...but heck...not including the pilot, Coulson was part of a 2 man team that was supposed to pull off this mission. It just seems like the first step would be to mobilize EVERYONE.

It was a off-the-books black op that involved dressing up as robbers to grab an asset that then became something else due to unforeseen circumstances, and was run by a man fueled by vengeance. Logic wasn't exactly in for the day.

I know...it just seems like if the world is about to be destroyed, SHIELD shouldnt be above breaking their rules on kidnapping. And again...it seems like they'd have a bigger/more powerful team as part of that initial plan. "Sorry that life on Earth has been extinguished...I didn't want to break protocol" doesn't seem like it would go over too well.

Plus, the Avengers, I'll bet, are facing their own problems in regards to growing demands for them to be regulated. (Yes, I know these AoS episodes take place well before the Accords are ratified and whatnot, but still...)

Eh, every single threat in the comics could be stopped if the other heroes would just put Squirrel Girl on speed dial, but they never do...

Sooooo, Simmons gets tortured by a freakin Hydra telekinetic with a wrench and hammer, then tortured by Ward, and ends up with just a small bruise? K.

Those Accords will be useless if that 2 man team fails to stop a Hydra brigade from bringing an immortal death monster through a portal. I know that we are supposed to assume that they are all very busy fighting evil and therefore can't help...I'm just agreeing with an earlier poster that it can sometimes creep up in my mind that maybe the possible destruction of planet earth might be important enough to bring more than a 2 man army of non-powered soldiers.

Again, Marvel wants to have it both ways when it comes to the whole "it's all connected" thing.
Well Rosalind's death was, incredibly lame. Once again, the show's habit of bringing in cool guest stars only to off them way too quickly rears it's ugly head.

I was thinking about this watching the episode:

- Any chance we see a representative of this group of Inhumans anytime soon?

inhumans.JPG

Not any of them actually, but someone who represents them?

Who was that in the comics?
