Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - 3x09 - "Closure" - Discussion Thread

I think coulson and fitz might think they save the day by escaping with will and not the inhuman, but then we find out that will is the inhuman.

I think Coulson will kill Ward but the big bad will take over Wards body to get out.
I.M.H.O.

Well, there's no chance in hell all four are making it home:

-Coulson
-Fitz
-Ward
-Will

At least one of them is totally dead (and the generic Hydra soldiers are all dead)
My vote is for Ward cuz he sucks and I completely disagree that he ranks among Marvel's top villains, he's just a smarmy *****e, the type of guy I'd have gotten into a barfight with back in my less introverted days
but knowing this whedon-esque brand of drama, I'm very scared for Fitz

Is anyone else really annoyed that Simmons is still pining over the astronaut guy? Yes, they shared something and he helped her. But, Fitz has been her best friend and has gone out of his way to help her...even possibly sacrificing himself.

Naw man. Ward is great on many levels. Not only is he a formidable strategically gifted enemy, he's got all the baggage and emotional strings attached to Coulson's first (handpicked) team/missions after his resurrection.

Like an ex who you've come to dislike, you still have a lot of shared (hopefully good) experiences under your belt which makes your situation more bittersweet and likely causes the hurt to run deeper as with Ward.

Those kinds of characters with HISTORY and betrayal that the audience have experienced right along with them are rare and shouldn't be thrown away lightly.

My question is, "What's with Simmons?"

First she's all "My dad would like you, Will."

Then "I've dreamed of us being together, Fitz. What do you want to do about it?(HINT HINT)".

Then, "You know how I feel about him(said to Fitz about Will)".

I'm expecting: "Look...it's time I told you both...I'm polyamorous...it's gonna be Fitz on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and Will on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Sundays are Jemma Time. Now that's settled, who wants tea?" *cue cheery Jemma smile*

Ward works because Whedon obviously set him up as a red herring bland hero type from day one and already knew he'd be turning. it's a testament to the actor that be was able to pull that turn.

idk i disagree
I don't think he's strategically gifted he's just in that cliched "the villain has to implausibly be three steps ahead at all times to look extra smart" position, sort of the evil mary sue
and the betrayal was already dealt with, and dealt with again, and now it's on the docket once more, it just feels repetitive and boring
if there was any mercy in this world, Ward would've been killed back at the end of season 1

it's funny how many people complain that the show mentions the Avengers too much... then complain when they don't mention the Avengers.

In regards to the Avengers being busy we have ample evidence that they are doing their own thing just in the party scene at the Tower. War Machine has his stories and apart from looking for Bucky and an apartment Steve seems to have been doing PI type work with Falcon.

If anything the fact that the Netflix shows don't include the Avengers is stranger than AoS not including them. Makes me think of the Sam Alexander Nova when he flies to New York.

Marvel needs to just pull the trigger and have one of the big name heroes show up on a show
or vice versa and have the movies finally actually acknowledge the shows

I still remember the Kimmel interview, I believe, with the cast of AoU where Clark Gregg showed up on the big screen to ask who'd want to come appear..
the uncomfortable silence that followed was extremely painful, made me feel bad for my boy Gregg

why does it really matter? Doesn't seem like to complain about EVERY week

Hawkeye's also off-grid probably spending a well-earned time off with his family. Plus, the rest of the new team (Vision, Scarlet Witch, Falcon) are probably off fighting other bad guys elsewhere, and/or trying to deflect growing scrutiny and calls for accountability.

my prediction is that Coulson willl encounter the entity first or Will find coulson first.

they are trying to locate Bucky

In the promo we see Will walking next to Fitz in two shots and Coulson isn't there so it seems more likely that Fitz finds him first. It could also be that Will finds Coulson and when they are attacked by HYDRA, Coulson gets away but they captured. Will is limping in the first shot so that might be why Coulson gets away but Will doesn't

This episode is a perfect example why this show suffers from being connected with the Marvel Cinematic universe. In Age of Ultron. We see the entire Avengers go after a Hydra base. Meanwhile, we have a situation where Hydra is holding two key members of Shield and about to teleport a big villain. Yet, no mention of the Avengers (who have a new Shield base) instead we get a couple of Inhumans. Just would like to have had some explanation as to why not one Avenger was available. I do find it hard to believe they have not gotten one Avenger to appear on the show...I did read that Renner said he would be willing to appear.

Ummmmm....

The avengers have an avengers base first of all
second...this new shield is still underground and I assume doesn't share Intel with the avengers

Absolutely, I hope Will bites it next week.
