Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - 3x11 - "Bouncing Back" - Discussion Thread

All this is just the setup for the last half the season, it's going to be a fun ride.

Man, it feels good to be watching something that feels like it has some weight/importance to it on a Tuesday night. Really digging this episode. I don't like Lincoln or that other dude...but Yo Yo is cool....so its good to have another Inhuman that I actually like.

I'm sad to see Slingshot leave. I hope they have her permanently join at some point.

I always hate the end of the show. Nice promo for DD though.

Is it next Tuesday yet? :woot:

Good way to come back from a break. I always like seeing William Sadler as President Ellis. Slingshot was cool and hopefully she will join the team in a permanent capacity by the end of the season. What about that scene that opened the episode? Who is the SHIELD agent that is on the ship apparently entering Earth's atmosphere 3 months from now?

That was an AWESOME episode. Had to close the Hype so the feed wouldn't lag. lol

I think we will see Slingshot again. The opening scene from 3 months in the future hinted that it was Slingshot on the ship. They showed her necklace floating around. Not to say someone didn't take her necklace or she escaped but it was definitely her necklace floating around.

Given that she was getting sort-of close to Mack, I'm suspecting that it's him on the spaceship, having taken Slingshot's necklace as a good luck charm for a mission to end Hive once and for all.

Yeah...sucks that she isn't a permanent part of the team. Seems like a bit of a "hero or villain of the week" scenario, which wouldn't really be that cool.

So... Who was that dead in the flash forward sequence?

Gonna be either Mack or Yo-Yo.

Loved the new Inhuman! Whatever her handle, "Yo-Yo" was wonderful and absolutely made the return episode. It's also GREAT to see a character with faith based convictions and issues (like Matt Murdock) appearing on this show to give it depth and balance. Her bringing out Mack's faith was a refreshing turn. It even gave Daisy pause because he's held that close to himself thus far. Speaking Spanish all the way through was a superb choice by the writers. Again, it grounded everything with more true depth.

Perfect re-start to what promise to be a truly great run up to Civil War.

So the flash forward takes place somewhere between Civil War and the events of Dr. Strange.

It may not be either Mack or Yo-Yo.

Thought it might have been Carol Danvers for a second but they probably wouldn't introduce her on this show anyways.

And Mack gives Yo Yo an apple watch to contact them when needed. Maybe it works without the phone. 😂

Obviously, Jay Garrick. :woot:

A good episode of Marvel's Narcos, I like Yo-Yo, she was cool.
Nice to see Daisy in action too, and Zombie Ward look creepy, I'm hype to see more about him.

It was nice to see President Ellis again. So S.H.I.E.L.D. is now semi-legalized as the black ops division of President Ellis' government and the ATCU, now led by Glenn Talbot, is re-purposed to serve as the public face of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Cool.

I wonder if that officer is supposed to be Gorgon (from Secret Warriors, not the Inhuman). Obviously, a change in race, but it could fit. Either way, damn.

Here are the gorgons in marvel.

Gordon (portrayed by Jamie Harris) is an eyeless Inhuman with the ability to teleport and emit force fields. His transition to an Inhuman was tended to by Jiaying, and he remained loyal to her in his adult life, ensuring that only a select few could enter and/or leave Afterlife, and joining with her in her war against S.H.I.E.L.D. He is killed by Fitz while trying to spread Terrigen mist through the ventialtion of The Iliad during a fight where Fitz was able to minimize the distance of Gordon's teleportation.

Gorgon (Tomi Shishido)
The Gorgon (Tomi Shishido) is a character in Marvel Comics.
The Gorgon first appeared in Wolverine (vol. 3) #20, and was created by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. The character was killed in Wolverine (vol. 3) #31, only to be resurrected later in Secret Warriors #2.

Television
# Gorgon appeared in "Agents of Shield" but is unnamed.

Not gorgon.
Lucio
Introduced in season three
# Lucio (portrayed by Gabriel Salvador): An Inhuman member of the Colombian Police Department who can temporarily paralyze anyone with his eyes. While being taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, he is abducted by Hydra.

Mace, the first one you mentioned is Gordon, not the Gorgon. He has nothing to do with this.

Anyway, I think they might use Lucio for some elements of the Gorgon, as a superpowered member of Hydra with a petrifying gaze. They won't make him the Gorgon though, presumably because the Gorgon is actually a Wolverine character so they probably don't have the rights. (And they probably couldn't make him a blindfolded Samurai because of this either)

Yeah, Lucio was even referred to as "Medusa Man" if I recall right... definitely inspired by Gorgon (Tomi Shishido). Though Gorgon is a mutant in the comics and not an Inhuman, so we'll probably not be getting a conformation for that.

A great episode all in all! The flashforward in the beginning reminded me of the mysterious ones in Breaking Bad (man, I miss that show...)
Given the "three months" tag, we can pretty much expect it to be happening in the season finale. On a spaceship. Now I'm intrigued.

I once again noticed in this episode how Skye and Daisy seem to be really distinctive persons to me. I don't know if it's the acting or simply the hairstyle, but she really is different than Skye.
Not digging It/Hive so far... were that scenes supposed to be creepy? No one tops Whitehall in that departement for me, he surely had an aura of creepyness. But I'm happy to wait and see how he'll be doing once he's more powerful.

Nice to see President Ellis and Glenn Talbot. It would be cool if they could get William Hurt to make a guest appearance as Ross on the show. According to the Russo brothers Hurt really enjoys playing Ross, wants to make more appearances and Hurt has done some Tv work recently on Beowulf and Humans.

To be honest, characters like Tomi Shishido are the only ones it really makes sense to turn from mutants into Inhumans. These are characters who Fox clearly does not own, but the term mutant can't be used. Generally speaking, a lot of characters have other origins and don't need to be Inhumans (Slingshot, for example, didn't have to be an Inhuman). But Gorgon can't really explain what he is without some alternate explanation.
