So next week is no episode and then this is the first of a two parter?

Next week there is a repeat of The Girl in the Flower Dress. Then we get the two-parter in consecutive weeks. But after that I can't figure out whether or not the show goes on hiatus for a while. :csad:

it's a mid season finale so it should have a break

I hate the mid-season finale thing. It's a struggle for me to devote time to even one show, so much so that I haven't followed anything on a major network since the middle of Fringe's third season. The long breaks and uncertainty as to the return date generally causes me to lose interest. When a show disappears for six or eight weeks (sometimes longer on Fox) I tend to switch to other activities in that time slot and not return.

That happened with Fringe. Fox shut it down for months and then switched nights when it returned. By the time I figured out it was back I'd missed a lot of episodes and couldn't get back into it.

Oh, well. The DVR will catch AOS's return, whenever that is, so I won't miss anything.

They are kind of a pain, I really hated it when Lost was doing them.

Well Fox has their usual "lets have our TV season start in September so that we can take three weeks off for baseball and then return after three weeks" schedule every fall.

Nobody is going to watch the show on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve.

And it's already clear that the show is barely running ahead of deadlines with 2 repeats already. They probably need all the time they can get.

Yeah, but then they have a long break to accommodate football playoffs from late December through February for some shows, along with another interlocking hiatus for American Idol/X-Factor/whatever. At least that's how it was with Fringe.

Nobody is going to watch the show on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve.

Every show takes those days off so that's never been an issue. It's the scheduled breaks for other reasons that are bothersome. For instance, ABC has a whole slate of mid-season shows that will air for a couple of months before the regular Fall shows come back. (Some, like Super Fun Night, aren't returning.) While I don't think AOS is set for a temp replacement, it'll probably do repeats for months or be replaced by specials.

I think we can wait for ABC to announce their schedule before jumping on them. We don't know if AoS is on hiatus for a normal couple of weeks or months. Heck we don't even know if there are finished shows that could be aired during the hiatus.

Any guesses on the cliffhanger? I've got a handful of guesses:

1) The episode could end with a character saying "Hail Hydra"
2) The cliffhanger could involve Coulson and his mysterious "resurrection"
3) The cliffhanger could involve Skye and her past
4) I could maybe see a core cast member die. I'd peg May and Fitz as the most likely to die right now. The last few episodes have made the fans care more about Fitz, so he could easily get Whedoned. Likewise with May. I'd say Coulson, Skye, and Ward are safe until they get into their ongoing stories a little more & I just don't see Simmons being the half of that duo to get stabbed through the chest.
5) Hawkguy shows up

So they use that every week in their episode description ?

"threatens the team."

The cliffhanger is probably just the explosion that Skye screams about at the end of the promo. People are going to be left in peril for a week, possibly Mike Peterson's loyalty will be in question for whatever reason. Why they need to go there so soon after having another plot thread about disloyalty is a mystery.

They should have had Fitz scream at the end. He sounds more girlie than any woman on the show. :o

"threatens the team."

"Ward attempts to escape from a Turkish prison, while Skye tries to find out where SHIELD hid her van. Meanwhile, left alone on the Bus, Fitz's new monkey creates a sandwich that threatens the entire team!"

:lmao::applaud

Question is, what's the "tag" going to be if they do the suspenseful cliffhanger before it? Surely, it won't be a comedic one to break the tension.

rofl

It will return sometime in January I imagine.

Crap, I didn't read much here cause i dont like to spoil myself with previews and whatnot but this and your mid season Lost post made me comment again lol. I'm so glad I never watched, even really heard of Lost (not a big TV series guy,) until Netflix because that show was so amazing binge watching for weeks on end lol. I seriously wish I could do tht with every great show including this one. I can't wait til 10 years down the road when everything is instantly streaming lol.

I thought this was so real until the last sentence, now I'm glad I real the thread lmao.

Also I personally loved the "god" angle while not being the most religious Christian but I understand the point behind religion. Aka the God is Love stuff Skye talked about. Everyone I assume has some "higher power" they believe on whether that be a god or karma or chance or whatever, it's a good plot point for an episode at least.

I've noticed that too. They've implied someone's gonna die for like the last 3-4 episodes in a row. Nobody's fooled.

That's how I saw the majority of it too, except it wasn't over yet and I had to endure the last two seasons on the regular weekly schedule. That was not a bit fun after mainlining the entirety of the series up to that point in the span of a few weeks.
