It would help if Fitz had an actual defining personality beyond "Geek" tattooed to his forehead.
Fitz is awkward, he's childish, he's smart, yet simple-minded, and he panics easily. I got all that from 3 episodes... and that's off the top of my head.

The majority of people like FitzSimmons. In fact, I'd say most people like all the characters.

Oh yeah i'm sure there are fan who like them. But you can't deny that right now they are very overtly one dimensional, even though we're only 3 eps in. too young, cute and innocent. And they've said nothing but technobabble. Just knowing how Whedon works, i believe he's written them like this just as a setup for something crazy down the line.

Sending a message to the haters? You think they just made the episode last week? This episode was made with the last two. I doubt Marvel said hey let's make two episodes for the purpose of creating haters and then actually make a good third episode to stick it to said haters

Yes, they're fairly one dimensional, but that's the nature of an ensemble show on its third episode. Ward was one dimensional as well before this episode. May was one dimensional before the second episode. Their time will come, but in the meantime I don't find them annoying in the slightest. I love watching them.

Hulk and Iron Man most certainly do NOT perform the same function on the Avengers team. Yes, there is a difference between Fitz and Simmons...but not a difference that anyone would really notice if it was only one of them doing it.

The part that Skye jumped was cut quite a bit cause in the add I saw her panties when she jumped lol

This was good stuff. I've liked the show so far, but this episode really sold the series as must-watch for me. It's so great to see they've maintained the great special effects, as that was my primary concern for a television show of this type.

As for the story, I like the "stakes" so far. Major enough to matter, but not so major that you wonder why this small team are the only ones who can handle it. That is not an easy balancing act, and in this episode especially, the stakes felt just right. Plus, it threw a few cool twists our way. [BLACKOUT] Dr. Hall being the one to engineer the whole scenario to destroy his own work[/BLACKOUT] was definitely not what I was expecting, and I look forward to seeing his inevitable superpowered alter-ego in the near future. Coulson now has his very own arch-nemesis!

This show was never going to be for everybody. It's light and fun, it knows its audience (Skye in that dress, wah wah wee wah), and follows some tried-and-true TV tropes. But this episode especially showed the potential of this series as a real look into the wider MCU that everyone has hoped for. And it's getting better every week.

With Graviton a super powered villain, the team is going to need a Super powered hero. Just who that might be, I have no idea.

great episode! the best so far. I give it a 9/10. I hope they can keep up that level!

They found one in episode 1. Obviously, they can cure the Extremis and leave the person without those powers...but that dude had Gamma and super soldier stuff in him as well...so they should have a superhero in their ranks eventually.

That's probably going to be who it is.

Skye's dress alone would have made it a good episode. Everything else however made it fantastic!

Not sure if I like Ian Quinn yet.

The team definitely only needs one tech officer (I can understand having two fighters, as long as their "gimmicks" are different). I'm on Team Kill Fitz, personally.

And I'm on Team Die Skye Die. When Quinn pulled a gun on her I was hoping for one to the head, quick and easy. Alas, she lived to annoy another day. :csad:

It was funny that every time Skye offered to use her rad hacker skilz some other team member did what she was going to do, only faster and better. Even Ward managed to get info faster, for eff's sake. And then May handed her a massive stack of printouts and told her to read the whole thing. She did get that e-vite, though....by telling Quinn's peeps she was with Rising Tide. So much for Skye adding technical prowess to the team.

Everyone keeps saying this, but honestly, I don't think so.

The whole point of this show is to showcase the people who don't have the powers. The unsung heroes. That was Whendon's entire purpose.

What will make it even more exciting is to see these people who don't have super powers figuring out ways to bring down people who do have immense power, like Gravitron.

I'm liking the show so far but what you're saying here is a recipe for disaster. I don't care what Whedon's desires are, this is a show set in the MCU. Long term it will fail if we aren't consistently in the world of super-powered beings. And it will deserve to.

I get that the team is the focus of the show, I have no issue with that. But they've got to be out there as part of the larger Marvel Universe. Anything else is a disservice to this show's target audience.

This show has been nothinf but a disappointmwnt for me. I will try one or two more episodes, but if they're as bad and boring as this episode was, I'm out.

4/10

I disagree completely. One, let's look at all the heroes people read about who are humans who routinely take on superpowered beings. I don't know if you guys have heard about this little character called Batman, but he's been fairly popular for the past 80 years or so, and nobody seems to want him to have superpowers.

Look at Whendons comments about this show. Someone posted them in the General Discussion thread. This show is purposefully about people WITHOUT powers. That's the focus of this show. Now, this show already is consistently in the world of super-powered beings. We're going to see a lot of them in this show. But I highly doubt we'll see any on the team. We'll most likely see lots of super powered enemies, and probably even have a super powered friend who guest stars and helps out in an episode.

But the main characters are going to be the normal humans. Because that's the purpose of this show. To show how normal people can still be heroes in this insane world.

By far the best one yet. Some genuinely unexpected moments, significantly less cornball moments, and a solid motivation for Graviton. I was actually questioning both sides, which is great, and Coulson sacrificing Hall showed some balls for the series, even if it was a villain setup--all the better. It was a really fun origin, unlike Mike Peterson's unconvincing turn with heavy-handed, cringe-inducing lines like, "This is an origin story."

Still not pumped on Skye or Ward, but Skye at least brought some interesting conflict to the table with her double/triple/quintupley agenty stuff. Also wondering the significance of Coulson's gun troubles in regards to his revival.

But yeah, an actual solid episode I really enjoyed. The gravity stuff was fun too.

You're actually not disagreeing with me in part. What you describe here, them interacting with the larger world, is what I'm talking about. But I think more episodes should resemble the 3rd episode than the 2nd one.

But still we will need more than just "normal humans" on the show to satisfy the audience. Simply stating "that's the purpose of the show" doesn't change that fact. What Whedon wants doesn't = success automatically.

Ah, my mistake. I was thinking you were saying that you thought we should have some of the main cast be superpowered.

I agree though, really enjoyed this episode. I think they're probably going to do a nice blend. When you look at it, of three episodes, one directly featured a super-powered being, and another showed the creation of another. So I think we'll get a lot of supers.
