Yeah I thought it was him... Surely if you knew the guy had played exactly the same character in another franchise you would have recast. A hundred people could have played that role

But people get typecast, and he is one of those who get exactly that for that type of role. He's not just played the same character in another franchise. He's played the same character in everything he's appeared in.

I don't think they would be aliens or Skye herself would be one too (and Simmons would have figured that out as soon as she started examining her blood). Even if she were a Skrull, they only change appearance, not their DNA.

They might be transformed Inhumans though: Inhumans are genetically altered humans (tampered with thousands of years ago by the Kree) who can undergo mutation from exposure to 'Terrigen Mists'. Sometimes the mutation is just a power (Black Bolt's voice, Medusa's hair, Crystals elemental powers etc), sometimes it will have a physical manifestation too (Triton, Gorgon etc).

So as a baby Skye could appear normal and even pass as a normal human under most tests, but her parents could indeed have been seen as monsters by the people of that village if they were fully transformed Inhumans.

If the alien serum was derived from a Kree that can also cover why she hasn't suffered any of the side effects (so far) that led to Coulson recommending the TAHITI project be dumped. The Kree used some of their DNA in the Inhuman experiments, so she doesn't suffer the psychological damage a normal human would.

That seems like a huge concept for a spin-off TV show to introduce, let alone in 44 minutes... I'm confused just reading it!

Well, if they were aliens there's still too much for that idea to explain it in full. Why is Skye human (even under blood testing) when her parents were described as 'monsters'? Who were these aliens, why were they here, how did they manage to lose their baby? etc.

Bottom line I think whatever they reveal next week about her won't/can't be the full story (as you noted, they don't have the time to cover it all with everything else that will be going on too). I think it will be a tease for a bigger story they pursue in Season 2, and perhaps a natural lead into something we do know Marvel will want to pursue on film.

Could actually see Raina saying to Skye "Your parents....Do you even know they were Inhuman?"

Jim Steranko needs to be fired from AoS coverage. He's so upset that it isn't an adaptation of his S.H.I.E.L.D. that he hasn't ever given the show a fair chance. I still can't get over the time he was upset that Coulson wasn't a chauvinist (he wanted Coulson to tell May to take her shirt off). The guy has no idea that 60's stereotypes aren't okay in a modern interpretation of S.H.I.E.L.D., and he has no concept of what can be done on network television (he also gets upset that there aren't explosions every ten seconds).

Most likely early September. The general idea is that people are looking at rewatching / catching up on the series before the new season starts.
