See, my problem with the "women have sexier costumes" argument is:
From an Art and anatomy perspective, most comic characters, male and female, ARE NUDE, with just color changes to different portions. Ya know, I mean, how is Spider-woman's costume any sexier than say.... Cyclops's? There both in skin tight body suits that are, for all intents and purposes, body paint. Even when female characters have cleavage or something, it's no different from the fully covered characters in terms of how they're drawn.
Modern artists ARE including more fabric and texture to make the characters look less nude, but historically, the medium has always included more or less fully nude men and women, with some color coverin' up the naughty bits. Ms. Marvel's costume, sexy and ridiculous? sure... but no worse than any dude still runnin' around in spandex puttin his bulge in everyone's face.

And then when it comes to films, yeah, let's not even get started, shirtless dudes are a requirement in CBM's, whereas some real cleavage on Black Widow is just outta the question

:up::toth

I don't think that Black Widow has much cleavage to show.

But that skin tight leather on her bottom really looks nice.

I'm sure it won't be long before we get the "boxer shorts over the tights" look like the 60's again.

Can't have society allowing it's wimmin to be exploited like this anymore!

So, Agents of SHIELD is pretty good. Skye is awesome, Ward has a ton of personality and May smiles too much.

Just trying to get back on topic.

I want to know the tie between AOS and CATWS. Fall of SHIELD? Pierce is The Clairvoyant maybe? Or maybe they get totally off topic?

I don't think the Clairvoyant is tied to TWS. Probably going to be Mentallo. If there's a link between the two, it'll probably be that HYDRA is shown to still be active on AoS.

How about Modok for the Clarviyant? I don't know much about the character, but super smart and evil super computer thingy could make for an interesting angle

I'm thinking the tie with TWS will be that SHIELD has basically fallen apart and is overrun by HYDRA (thanks to inside agents, Pierce, etc.) and just like Fury, Cap, Widow and Falcon, Coulson's team will have to go underground.

Even though it's the same costume and hairstyle from the film, why does it feel a bit "different" from how it actually looked on film?

filters for one, and post-production of the footage.

They'll have to ditch that ginormous, SHIELD maintained jet, then. No functioning SHIELD = no ground crew and no fuel. Also, the four members of the team who are inept at undercover work would be a real liability in that situation.

They're a liability now as we've seen before, especially this last episode. They don't know what they're doing in the field, which would be their lives at this point.

Maybe SHIELD will be torn down in TWS and the rebuilding process will begin in the end.

Which is why I seriously doubt SHIELD will 'cease to exist', amongst other reasons. It will just have some spring cleaning to do, with bullets.

The general uselessness and ineptitude of most of Coulson's handpicked team in the field is the biggest disappointment of the series, as far as I am concerned. SHIELD field agents are supposed to be experts at spycraft, but only Coulson and Ward have shown skills. It would work better if half the team stayed on the Bus and out of the way, instead of having them fumbling around on missions and getting the **** kicked out of them through sheer stupidity every week.

That's what I figure, too. SHIELD will be decapitated after CATWS and the power structure will change, but it will still exist.

I don't understand how you don't enjoy seeing these rookie agents growing and learning on the job, their missions are probably much harder than whatever else agents of their status on other teams are doing. Why do you expect that every agent is coming out of the academy as flawless? This show with all May level agents would be painstakingly terrible. You can't enjoy this show because you've warped this fantasy image of what you wanted to the show to be. The way they've done it with this team of inexperienced agents learning and growing and progressing has been fantastic in my eyes. I want to see them take risks and struggle so they then improve, which has been happening. The team is developing greatly since we first saw them and will continue to grow. Coulson picked these people for a reason, I'm sure he had his pick of the shield litter and could have had any agents.

great post Mkilban.. i agree that the characters have grown significantly since the start, not only in character, but also in terms of learning skills and becoming a team...

also, i think its been a great idea to have this team separate from big SHIELD... when the events of cap2 occur, most likely SHIELD will go into disarray and these agents may be somewhere else around the world at the same time, and thus wont have to be part of the ongoing destruction..

i also think fury suspects that something is wrong with SHIELD, and thats could be the reason why he gave coulson his own team to handle missions off the grid.. so that if he has to go underground, he can still have a team to count on and trust

Very old theory, and a popular one at that; but there are a couple of things there he speculates about that I hadn't caught before. Still, they're grasping-at-straws kinda coincidences: a background pic of a yellow diamond on a red-orange field (Spider-Woman's logo, more or less); and the pheromone theory (guys love her, women hate her). I think that last bit can be more ascribed to the usual reaction to a hot chick --- guys drool over her, other women get catty towards her.

I still believe that there's a good chance she's Jessica Drew; I just don't think these things in particular point towards that.

:applaud:applaud good post and this is why I like the show also!

So your problem with the show is the two young SHIELD scientists and a non-SHIELD trained female computer hacker?

Also not really recalling any of those three fumbling around on missions and getting the **** kicked out of them. Only thing I remember is Skye deciding to go into the mansion by herself and ending up gut shot.

a show of purely skilled soldiers would be boring as hell.. imagine a bunch of Ward's/Coulsons/May's running around... you need the rookies and inexperienced to bring out diversity and cause character growth from both sides.

Also, the only person on the team who's inexperienced is Skye. Fitz and Simmons are plenty experienced. . . *just not at field work*.

This, although I do agree in that SHIELD won't go away, but that the power structure changes.

I think Maria Hill is put in charge after Fury "dies" even though Fury is in hiding. I think Hill may have played a role in Fury going underground. I say this because of Hill's relationship to Coulson in the pilot. She is a bit nicer to Coulson than Agent Blake and to a lesser degree Victoria Hand.

i can see that, I think Hill and Coulson will probably end up having to go up against Victoria Hand and Hammer

Yep. Hand didn't think that Coulson was important enough to be saved. Hill and Coulson were friendly to each other in the pilot.

Hill is probably going to take over SHIELD and make sure the group isn't going to be infiltrated by HYDRA again.

Anyone remember if Skye's "I'm in" text went anywhere? For some reason it popped into my head today and I can't remember if the show mentioned whether it was to mystery villain or just that boyfriend guy that showed up for one episode.
