Carp Man said:9 and a half months from opening date they begin filming ? They couldn't finish the effects for the 1st film in the time alloted, now it appears that they will have even less time, with more effects, because they have included the SS. If indeed they are doing some outside or non essential shooting, then that will be a positive. And she said "I" start August the 28th, not that they begin filming Aug. 28th. Mabey she is speaking for herself, and they will start with the other actors before that. Lets hope that they are not going to begin filming from the start on Aug. 28th.

They seem to be tinkering, trying to fix something that wasn't broke, just needed some fine tuning.Carp Man said:Ok let's disect what exactally she said.
I start [filming] on August 28th, I think, through the fall," "It's going to be a very, very exciting, hot, new, fresh 'Fantastic Four.' We're going to amp up the action, amp up the love interest, amp it all up."
Sounds good.
"I'm the most powerful of the four," "I can kind of do everyone else's powers."
We'll have to see what this statement means.
"There is a little tension between the Silver Surfer and Reed," Of the Surfer, Alba said: "He's a little good and a little bad. So it's just a matter of, 'What does Sue Storm bring the good or the bad out of that boy?'"

Is Sue fickle ? Wasn't this issue settled at the end of the movie ? What does the SS bring that could drag her away from Reed ? Power ? Wealth ? The universe ?
Dragon said:First off, Sue isn't the most powerful of the team. There is no most powerful member. They all have great power in different ways. For example- the Torch has the most destructive ability. The Thing has the greatest amount of stamina and endurance not to mention brute force. And Reed's abilities allow him to be the most resilient. And then of course, his intelligence makes him the most formidable of the team.
Dragon said:As for this love triangle thing, it's silly. Is Sue so fickle to be swayed this often and easily? Or are they that desperate to find something for Jessica to do?

Iceburgeruk said:I expect she means she manipulates the fields to do roughly what the others do.
Reed: She stretches the field and is able to grasp objects from a distant with the field. Thereby simulating Reed`s powers.
Thing: Concentrating her field to make her near invulnerable. Using her field and will to be able to lift heavy objects.
Human Torch: I don`t know about the flame bit. She might be able to simulate something like that, it really depends on the nature of the movie version of her force fields. I expect they shall simply show that she can simulate his ability to fly with her force fields.
I expect though they shall show that at this point she can only do feeble simulations of what they can currently do with there powers so as not to negate the point of the other members of the ff.

Malus said:If you put all four of them in an empty parking lot and each was in "bad/evil" mode, out purely to disable or kill the other three, Sue and Johnny would have the edge. If Johnny went Nova quick enough, that would be that. But if Sue took him out first, by materializing a force bubble in the center of his brain and quickly expanding it (which would take about 2 seconds) then game over. (In fact, I'm pretty sure she could do that to all three of them simultaneously.) Yes, Reed is resilient, but he's not flame-proof, and I doubt his brain would automatically stretch that readily if a force bubble the size of an apple suddenly materialized inside it. He'd be knocked out instantly at the very least. As for his intelligence making him the most formidable member, that's probably true, but in this situation there'd be no time to strategize. He'd be unconscious or dead long before he could use that big brain of his.
So barring Johnny going nova instantly, Sue has the edge in my opinion.
And there's nothing PC about that. Her powers have been growing and developing since day one, and John Byrne's "Malice" storyline pretty much makes her most-powerful status official canon.
Doesn't bother me a bit.
And she's still my least favorite FF member.![]()

Of course...the hardcore fans who can't stand to see their precious stories/characters altered at all (and yet they don't mind all the many alternative realities that are in comics??) will hate it.

Tony Stark said:I agree with you 100%. I didn't mind the changes in Doom in the first movie. It gave Doom a complete story arc, and you see the changes take place in Victor to when he becomes Doom, you know you're in for it.
I also don't consider it a deviation from the comic, when it was a blending of the Ultimate Doom and classic Doom.
The only downside for me, was I wished he had more time on screen behind the mask.

I'm hoping they will simply have Sue empathize with the Surfer, just as Alicia did in the original story. Ben became jealous, and its understandable that Reed might as well. I doubt we'll see a true love triangle here.
Remember the Surfer was basically human once, and pines for his long-lost Shalla-Bal. If the Surfer's been leading the Big G to planets populated mostly by lizard and bug creatures, and Sue is the first raelly "female" face
the former Norrin Radd has seen in untold years/centuries/millennia (whatever) then I can see him getting a bit swoony over Sue.
There's little doubt in my mind that they're gonna give the role Alicia played in the original story to Sue/Jessica Alba. It's just too meaty a part to do otherwise. The audience doesn't know Alicia (thanks to the butchering of the first film) so I can't see her getting all that screen time with this flashy new character. And I'm basically okay with that, as long as they do it right. But really, I think we'll be lucky if the Surfer even falls through Alicia's skylight initially.
Dragon said:The edge goes to Thing and Johnny actually. First off, in the effort to make up for Sue's being "the hostage" early on, her powers were made to be ridiculous- like when she made a bunch of force marbles to trip up the Thing in FF #266. She can project force fields. Okay. But if her focus were disrupted, by say Ben causing a shockwave, she'd be toast. And the thing about expanding a forcefield particle in someone's head? Reed could do that physically, and more easily than Sue. Her brain isn't exactly super fast. But Reed can move superfast.
As for the Malice thing- like I said, put any member of the FF in villain mode- ESPECIALLY Reed or Johnny- and they'd be as bad or worse than Sue as Malice. Johnny could incinerate a city in minutes. Reed, with his knowledge, turned evil would be near godlike.
And like I said, it's just pretentiousness to place Sue in front of the others. Why can't they simply be equal? They were all exposed for the same length of time, under the same conditions. You saying Sue's powers have been growing since day one does nothing to say that the the others powers haven't also been growing. We know the Thing is many times more powerful than he was in the early days. You put too much stock in Byrne's run. He came up with ALOT of bad ideas. Splitting up Ben & Alicia. Making Aunt Petunia younger than Ben. Sometimes his attempts at being clever (See the Spidey re-boot) generate his worst ideas.
Yeah, I think that's apparently been the case thus far.Dragon said:The films are in the hands of very simple-minded people who can't see the potential of the franchise.
Carp Man said:You must be an Ultimate FF lover. The Ultimate FF are not the FF, that those of us over 50 grew to know and love. The original has worked for over 40 years. No need to change now. They have pimped out the FF in order to sell comics. They have sold them down the rive, and I said it before and I'll say it again, if they go the Ultimate route, they will lose the fan base that made the FF what they are. At least this fan. Jack "King" Kirby must be spinning in his grave. If I don't like what I see, then I'll wait till the DVD, if then. I won't even pay 50 cents to go see it. Mark that down, and book it.
Grog said:Couple of things come to mind...They are putting Malice in the mix as was suggested by a few posters.
The love triangle is just Reed getting jealous and misinterpreting Sue's desire to help the Surfer.-- Same as happened to Ben and Alicia.
The Surfer is a villian initially. Whether it is because Galactus has altered his mind or not, he's navigating for a fella thats coming to destroy the earth. Alicia in the books finds his noble side, and I'm sure Sue does the same in the film.
All of you that complained that Sue's role was diminished in the first film have to appreciate that by these indications she will be a larger part of the 2nd story. As far as the Surfer needing his own movie to be introduced, he was introduced in the FF comics quite nicely. A solo Surfer origin movie ends with him as a villian, sure its a tragedy, but not a full circle story either. Finally,
I'd add that the Surfer and Galactus leave opened the possibility that they can mutate Ben further to the Thing we all love.
I think I'm one of five people that are excited about the storyline and Galactus trilogy coming to film. I think it will be a blast.

Tony Stark said:I like some of the Ultimate line. I like the Ultimates alot, and Ultimate Iron Man. Ultimate FF is OK. I hate Ultimate Spider-man.
I grew up on the classics (I'm 34 by the way), so I do like the classics better.
However, for the movie I understood why they did the melding of the two Dooms. For one, it's easier in an origin driven movie, to have a single point of origin for all the characters.
Secondly it was brilliant in that they had to develop a reason for the FF to go to space other than "we have to beat the commies!" Having Reed and Victor work together was brilliant, and underscored the rivalry that is at the heart of their characters, especially in the classic FF.
But the fact is they kept enough of the classic Doom to keep it from being too Ultimate. For instance they kept the scar, which I thought was great. When Victor finally puts on the mask, his face isn't totally deformed which I thought was also great.
The fact is when doing movies, things are going to change. You haven't seen a single comic book movie that hasn't deviated from the comics in some way. Some like X-men: The Last Stand, go too far. Fantastic Four caught the right balance. While it's not my favorite superhero movie, I still like it alot, and is one of the few that I don't mind watching several times.
