Wanna know something funny!
If you guys look in the threads from back around the OMD/BND time...
I said it'd be funny if after the MindWipe that not even Peter would remember that he was Spider-Man....
It seems my idea/joke has become reality!

The thing about Mike Deodato is he looks like he traces over celebrities...

I don't think he traces. Deodato seems to just model guys after certain celebs for close up shots. His stuff is too dynamic to be traced. He's nowhere near as bad as Land.

Ok... maybe her face looks funny (I think he's trying to make her do the sexy porn star face, but that always looks funny... especially when I try and do it to the wife  ), but you can't argue with the rest of her body... :yay:

I didn't mean to imply he does trace, but the art gives that impression and looks a bit static to me.

I like the way Ramos does MJ's face, though here her jawline is a bit crooked. I've seen better MJ's from him. He made the breasts a bit too large here (but that is common with comic book artists). This looks like the one cover during Spider Island, but I think the Spider Island cover was better.

And now wait for THUNDERSTRIKE's comments on anatomy...

you just said it FOR me, bro... :oldrazz:

Bleeding Cool is reporting that there's another Spider-Man book coming in May. It's either the anticipated Spider-Man 2099 book or a new volume of Superior.

It could also potentially be the return of a something like Spectacular or Web if ASM does indeed go back to being monthly.

I ran across this over at deviantart... thought I'd give 'em a post here...

I gotta say that out of all the colored versions I've seen of AF#15 over the years after the original b/w piece was released, I REALLY like this one the best... I always thought that the coloring for ASM #700 was garish and ugly...

and I really like how the book looks with the corner box and ASM web-logo on the top in place of the AF lettering... plus, I got a kick out of seeing it numbered at #702...

Oh colors are way better here. Wasn't a fan of the coloring in the 700 variant at all. Real ugly.

Has anybody ever wondered what Amazing Fantasy 15's Important Message was?
Also what the colouring of the Original Spider-Suit looked like?

Lol I guess I kinda do now.

The original color of the spider-man suit? Just look at the Jack Kirby AF15.

Have to chime in here on people who defend the numerous defects and ugliness of Ramos' art as somehow being connected to a "cartoony" style.

This is completely untrue. Most "cartoony" styles are clean, defined, and simplified, qualities that cannot be used (honestly) to describe ANY of Ramso' art since, well, ever.

I was there when he first drew Spidey a decade or so ago. I recall wondering just how someone so untalented could have gotten a major comic book assignment.

Flash-forward to today, he's no better; in fact, I think he's only gotten worse.

McFarlane, Larsen, and Bagley were the artists who really defined Spidey for me when I started reading. All three have some extent of "cartoony" stylings in their work. Even McFarlane and Larsen, who's work was sometimes anatomically inaccurate or off, pulled off artwork that was beautiful and strange to behold.

If Marvel wants a more animated style on Spidey, why not use Ed McGuinness? He'd be perfect.

If only Mike Wieringo were still around...

ahh, a kindred spirit...

I like this guy already...

Haters gotta hate.

Look guys, we get it, you don't like Ramos' style. I do. I've agreed with you all on a number of occasions he pushes the anatomy too much at times until it breaks. But, on the whole, he is my favorite artist currently working on the title.

I also like McFarlane & Larsen. They also are among my favorites. So are Ross Andru & John Romita Jr. And also Ditko, Romita, & Gil Kane. Bagley is ok, but I don't love him like a lot of people do. They all have different styles and I enjoy their contributions to Spidey.

The one point I totally agree with you, is I really miss Mike Wieringo. :csad: He is also among my favorites. The sad thing is, I remember when he was on the book, people back then b*tching about him being too "cartoony" and didn't belong on Spider-Man.

You guys hear about "Amazing Spider-Man : Year One"? Read about it on cbm.com

Sounds cool and something I want right now.

Learning to Crawl...
Oh look, another flashback where Pete isn't the only "nerd" in school and will probably laugh with the rest of the school when Flash picks on them...

STOP going backwards!
Just go forward!
