This is going to get tedious really fast...

People who are optimistic or hyped or favorable of the movie aren't necessarily jumping to conclusions. They're reacting to what has been shown. That's not a judgement on the movie itself which hasn't been seen.

The director is not the creator. Movies are made by a team of people. Previous movies are not evidence of another movie's quality.

There are plenty of people who have already made up their minds ahead of time that this film is going to be awesome. It happens with every major superhero film. And yes I'm aware films are made by teams, but the director is the one in charge, he interprets the script, he sets the scene and tells the actors what he wants, he's the last line of defence.

Fine, I'll leave it at that then.

In what way? Skepticism is questioning from all angles.

I don't know if there's a true neutral state. At least as far as this goes. Everyone is bringing some preconceived notions into things.
Neutral feels more like it'd be utterly objective, not leaning any one way.
But this is more of a philosophical thing and not really worth discussing here.

Or maybe it's their hope. Either way I'd make a point to note that I'm not passing any judgements on whatever biases people may have - only to acknowledge them as they actually are.

Not really. Producers and studios have power over the director which is why director's cuts aren't always the theatrical cut.

Thanks to Mrs. Wayne for the gif of Bruce in Metropolis:

As I said in the other thread, don't know if this was deliberate, but there's quite a visual similarity here.

Don't forget:

When it comes to art, I agree there's no true neutral state. But, I was merely defining the idea of skepticism which is why I didn't think it was used properly. I wouldn't apply it myself.

I'd even go to say that the theatrical cut is almost always a byproduct of the studios, and that in most cases, the director doesn't even have final cut.

Direction is the style you see. Zack Snyder is a borderline cinema master who doesn't always make sure his scripts are in gear (which is his number one mistake, easily). Sure, there are some embarrasing movies here, but it's obvious his style makes an impact.

Yeah, directors are like managers who guide teams towards a vision. But even if it's the director's vision, it's dependent on what the teams are and the people who supervise the director's vision.

From what we've seen so far, I think you could see a different quality of dialogue, cinematography, and art design compared to MOS. And, we know the movie has a different editor. I don't know why you would expect the same as MOS. For better or worse, it's going to be different.

The MOS suit is a work of art!! Wilkenson is a genius!!!

Did you really just pick apart jmc's use of "skepticism" vs. "cynicism"? Let's not nitpick others' opinions the way we do these movies. I think his stance is clear. Time to move on.

Zod... YESSSSS!!!!

:mnm:

Seriously though, the Boomer gifs are gonna get a lot of use around the Hype.

Aye, its the new "But that's none of my business" reaction gif for DC folks.

I just saw a journalist saying that BVS looks "super problematic". If you have issues with the movie at this time, I suggest you express them away from me, because that has honestly put me in a throat-slitting mood. :o

Problematic? Eat ****, 14 year old girl on Tumblr trying to look socially responsible.
