Omg I was blown away!!! May be my new favorite CBM!!!! Can't believe there's a skgle negative review...action was awesome, I love the way the story was presented with the flashbacks sprinkled throughout, and the ending montage was excellent!! Honestly I give this at least a 9/10 maybe 9.5!!!!

Yeah, that montage at the end made me so giddy and so excited for a sequel.

RANDOM THOUGHTS AFTER A DOUBLE BACK TO BACK SESSION (SPOILER FREE)

I was expecting a top-notch movie and, sorry to tell you, I didn´t find that. Intead, I´ve got a very good movie with some flaws, which was way better than a mediocre film with some good moments (Superman Returns).

I´ve read that people are complaining about its fast pace and the lack of character development, and I must say there is something like that, yes, cause the film moves forward by the excessive uses of elipsis, especially at the beginning, when Clark is trying to find out his origins and the character jumps from one situation to the other without any solution of continuity.

The first 15-20 minutes on Krypton were fine, although Avatar´s influence was a little annoying for me. Besides, if you have already seen one of the last clip, you know Jor-El fights à la Jason Bourne, which I found a little odd, cause he supposedly is the best Krypton scientist: where did he find the time to learn how to fight againts three or four armed men.

One of the most annoying things of the plot (if not "the" most) is that, in my opinion, they haven´t solved the problem of how the hell Jor-El interacts with Kal-El if he is already dead. The way they intend to justify that is weak, and one of the things you have to concede, cause if you not, the whole plot falls like a stack of cards. Which is hard, cause in this movie Jor-El interacts after his death with almost every important character.

The kryptonians speak english. I didn´t like that either. The virus marketing was all "kryptonian language, kryptonian language", and then they speak in english!! I can accept that in Thor, for example, but not in a movie whose writer is screaming all the time "real world, real world, what would happen in the real world". They could have come up with sth better, like Avatar did.

The Clark Kent disguise: we all know it´s kind of a problem, and I think that they didn´t want to adress that issue cause it´s a little embarrassing, so, they left it to the end: if people liked the movie, they will no complaint about it.

Faora: she is a bitc... I mean a peach

Acting: Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Russell Crowe are from another league. In a character level, they own the best moments.

Learning to fly: it reminded me of The Greatest American Hero, in a bad sense.

Zod plans: he tells Kal his exacts plans: "hey, we will kill all the human race in order to refund Krypton, so, you know, we need that codex of yours". I mean, Zod knows Kal has spent 33 years with the humans, it´s kind of probable he likes them. Couldn´t he just tell Kal a lie: "We need that codex cause our people is dying".

I don´t understand how the hell Superman´s uniform is on Kara´s ancient ship.

When Clark finds his cousin´s ship and flies away, he leaves Lois Lane unconscious in the snow in the middle of the night, supposedly at a temperature of minus 40 degrees C (i think): she wakes up the next morning like nothing, and is found by the helicopter. Come one...

Also, that ****ing pen drive that works with every kryptonian ship, even if they were built at different ages (thousands of years, actually). Kryptonian technology doesn´t evolve? Their machines and sistems don´t caducate?

Overall. A fine and very enjoable movie. But I don´t want neither Goyer or Snyder in charge of the next one.

One more thing: the easter egg when Superman is trying to destroy that machine: awesome, one of the best moments in the movie.
a bit too spoilery to be called spoiler free.

Movie was nuts, best of the year and gets the sour taste I had in my mouth with how hyped I was for Iron man 3 as well.

Was it a perfect movie? of course not, but did it have so many flaws that made it a bad movie? not even close

MOS is probably an 8.5 for me about the same as what I would give say First Class though I left the theater way more hyped after Man of Steel

Shannon as Zod was underwhelming, but Faora kicked all kinds of azz.
Crowe owned his role.
as did Cavill and adams. she had plenty to do, and cavill had plenty of lines.
The editing was somewhat choppy.
The fight in metropolis was the animated supes vs captain marvel come to life. bodies were literally knocked through multiple highrise buildings, multiple I said.
AND, to be fair, you could tell it was CG at times, felt a bit cartoony at points..still, it was good.

I have been hearing a lot about how the ending is just so awesome. I just cannot wait until tomorrow to find out what this ending is that everyone is raving about

:super:

The Dark Knight has problems yes but lumping it with Catwoman? That is some major hate there.
I still havent watched all of Catwoman
Once I saw the costume, I couldnt take it seriously.

This movie is at worst a solid 6.5 at best 8.5 for me (on first viewing) 8. It does have its flaws: too overwhelming at times, a lot to digest in an already long movie, flimsy plot at some junctions, final fight was great but its conclusion left something to be desired (though I do not disagree with it, wanted more from Kal). Henry was brilliant as Clark/Kal/Superman he really is the Superman we deserve. Everyone else was good, Costner and Crowe are the two big standouts along with the woman who played Faora. The score though was easily the best part of the film. It may not top Williams for some but I think it blows it out of the water. Tomorrow I hope to view it again and will provide a better review if I remember.

edit: The movie is very emotional. I almost cried at two points. It is a heavy movie.

I don't know if he rips his shirt either, I must have missed something, though they did zoom in on his chest.

There was no after credits, just they give you a sense of continuation at the end of the film with the satellite scene after the fight with Zod.

Naw, I meant the last few minutes of the film. I stayed and there was nothing after. Btw, what were your thoughts?

the shirt rip off scene is in the sequel.

Did anyone else get a smile on their face when you saw the polar bear? lol

Kind of contradictory to several reviews. Like I said earlier, MOS, for me, is like the tale of two movies as far as reactions go.
