All Things Superman: An Open Discussion (Spoilers) - Part 81

Two questions:

What caused Clark to head north to look for the scout ship?

and

Where did Zod get the Genesis Chamber from? Jax-Ur created it with Superman's blood?

^RT has guided me with some films though. It just didn't jive with Man of Steel at all. Gotta blame the critics for blowing it on this one. I am a big Green Lantern fan yet completely agree with the review it got on RT. I even like Reynolds and expected a lot more than what we got. However with MOS? It is a great film. It truly deserves to be in the 80's range or even 90's when you consider it is as good (to me) as Iron Man which is at 93% or something if I remember right.

I can understand how some might find the opening choppy, especially considering the narrative choice. It is something different, even from Begins. But it really worked for me.

Cool. Thanks.
I'm not quite sure what the point of the transfer is. Why not just stowe it in his ship with the command key? Sounds a bit too much like sequel setup.
[BLACKOUT]Because the only way to get it is from the God warrior that is Kal-El.[/BLACKOUT]

1. The army is looking for it and he is hanging around.

2. It is in the scout ship.

1.) The army had been searching for it, causing him to go
2.) The Scout Ship. It'll make more sense in context.

Another, less sophomoric question this time.

For those who have seen it: Based on the tone, narrative, characters, and style of Man Of Steel, who do you most expect to see as the villain in the eventual sequel?

I never, never, never, ever, ever, ever in my life thought I would say this.

I'm pretty sure I liked Superman Returns better than this movie.

Clark was already doing work in Alaskan region working different types of odd jobs. I can understand if some see it as a stretch, but imo it worked in the realm of "coincidentally" better than I've seen in a lot of superhero films.

On the Zod fight. The sequence with them [BLACKOUT]flying through the buildings [/BLACKOUT]was ridiculous.

2. It is in the scout ship.

1. Yeah, but he was already heading North then, wasn't he?

2. Hmmm... I remember Faora opening that, but not taking the ship as the military used it as a weapon at the end. Was the fetus thing there? I'll have to look again.

I really think Brainiac/Luthor.

Definitely Lex, would be my guess.

His was the only clear Easter Egg.

Hmmm. Good question. I personally don't want him as THE villain, but Lex Luthor is a given. Given the events that happen in this movie, that'll prompt him to use the
destruction of Metropolis against Superman and to have the people reject him.

Just a thought.

Even with Superman having a child and no physical villains? Kitty? Real estate Lex? I am a bit surprised to be honest by your reaction.

:csad: Eh, I loved MOS so yay me(and everyone else who liked/loved it)!!

I could see them trying to set Darkseid up in a sequel but Luthor and Brainiac would work well. I'd love to mix Metallo as a less important villain in there as well. You should all know my 10 year old idea by now ;) Theme of manipulation: Lex manipulates Corben, Brainiac manipulates Lex.

I think that is what is going to happen, that and another main villain.

I don't think anyone can really answer that.

Unless they really want to go the Nolanbat route, so Lex and MOS2 and Doomsday in MOS3. :woot:

Parasite could also work. For now, I'd say Luthor and Metallo and/or Parasite for the sequel. MOS 3: Braniac and Doomsday.

He was already up there and picks up an odd job near the site.

There are two different ships. Clark's pod is what they use to explode the Black Zero. The scout ship is the one Zod retrieves and Clark crashes.

The reason I throw Brainiac out there as plausible is... seeing the metallic formations used for aspects of Kryptonian communication, and even a weapon that formed into tentacles. It could be easy to imagine that he can form in a very cool TAS inspired look within that template.

I wonder who they will cast as Lex? Kevin Spacey was awesome in the role despite what he had to work with.
