This is the best CBM I've seen since Winter Soldier(Best MCU movie by a mile IMO). It's that good. I can't describe how much I loved every bit of it. The characters are so well developed and likeable. Every single one of them. It's amazing what a good director and script can do for a movie.

Can't wait to see it again on Friday.

I'm seeing it in a couple of hours. I had my wisdom teeth out a day ago and even though my jawline rivals that of Keira Knightley and I have an issue with drool control... I'm not gonna let that stop me.

Well they became straw feminists, which was weird since a woman directed the animated film too. It was the way they were handled that made them unlikable. I find this alot with modern versions of WW: the DCAU was similar, which is why I don't like that version; and at first I liked the 2009 film, but over time, even that was has criticism. We won't go into the 2011 pilot, nor her portrayal in JLW; but going back to 2009 film, I wonder what it would be like if those things weren't in the film at all. Instead the thing between Diana and the Amazons on Steve and Man's World weren't based on gender issues but of what has changed versus what hasn't, and whether returning to the outside world would reopen old pasts.

The thing is Diana learned during the course of that animated movie that her people were wrong about the outside world, so to me that's character growth which is why I'm fine with it. I do admit though there was not nearly the level of aggressiveness geared towards the outside world in this film as has been shown in other interpretations, in fact it's played more like the Amazons are have moved beyond what happened in the past. I think that was an intentional move and in all honesty probably one for the best. A little hard to tell though given little time is spent on Themyscira.

Just saw the movie.

It wasn't a perfect supehero movie, it is a bit rushed and the plot lurches forward in a bit of a messy way. And sometimes the CGI WW is noticeable.

But it hit me at my core. I have never been so emotional after a superhero movie. I was feeling quiet and sad all the way home. A lot of the audience were crying, including me.

While Patty Jenkins does seem to have some trouble at times with the pacing and plotting, she gives it so much substance and emotion.

The audience applauded at the end of the movie. An old man was weeping and his wife was consoling him (probably thinking about the war.)

It's a serious movie. Diana/Gal was much more forthright than I was expecting. Not meek. Which was awesome. I will talk more in the spoiler/review threads.

But my main complaint is that I just wanted more. More Themyscira, gods, supporting characters etc.

But I have never been affected so much after a superhero movie. It's hard to explain. Despite any clunkiness, imperfections or oddness, Patty and co. have achieved something intangible and imo not seen in a superhero movie before.

Many people crying right before the end (present day).

It is. She's got a youtube channel, and there's a single version of the WW theme that she just released, I'd link the video but it's, uh... I mean it's not like she's naked in it... well okay she's naked in it, but you don't see anything, it's just... I'm not sure it'd go over well with the mods if I shared it here. But it's out there if you check out her channel.

It's in the WW composer thread already. And it really doesn't show anything. It's more sensuous than explicit. Really great rock version of the theme.

BvS and Logan were the only superhero movies in the last 5 years that made me cry. I am hearing WW hits all the right notes emotionally.Gonna see it in about 15hrs.

Here are some spoiler thoughts:

As someone who watched the old TV show, to see Steve and Diana get together, after the will-they-or-won't-they aspect of the TV show, and their long history in the comics, was really quite touching and significant.

Robin Wright/Antiope was badass in her scenes esp the beach battle. I was all "Go, Robin, go!" lol

The mustard gas scenes were harrowing and confronting.

Steve's band of men were cool. I liked all of them.

BTW is the comic con trailer music in the film? That was stunning!

2017 is only halfway there to the finishing line so I assume you counted 2012 in ''the last 5 years'' and by default you insinuate that you didn't cry during TDKR........ :cmad: :cmad:

Exactly. They are similar characters, yet very different. One was brought up in a magical island, protected and where she had a peaceful life. While Clark was brought up in our cynical world. Diana had her parents, she knew her people, she belonged. Clark never belonged, he was ostrasized by the society, he only had his parents, and he has to make his world "small". Diana grew up being proud of who she is, of her heritage, and knowing what she is doing is right. Clark grew up not knowing what's right and wrong in this ever growing morally grey world, he asked "Did god do this to me?". He didnt know.

They are fundamentally different characters. Clark faced all the bows and arrows of society and this repugnant world, which Diana never had to. He took one for the team and the league, and because of his example and inspired by him, the rest of the league can now come out of the shadows, including Diana.

Both hero in their own right, but very different heroes.

Excellent post. I have nothing to add here because your post perfectly encapsulates why I love Snyder's Superman and why I find his Superman so interesting and it's great that Jenkins did her thing with WW and I'll probably find it very interesting and love it as well.

Thats why I said 5 years, because I didnt want to include TDKR. Who cant cry at that ending with Bruce in the cafe?

I started from 2013 ;)

I know I'll have my own opinion on the film as we all will --however just hearing how themyscira stuff wasn't explored and was short lived and shafted breaks my heart to hear because of my love of the amazons and the Island! Also hearing that the Island scenes seem to have no character development is sad to hear! hearing the action seems to be too much slow motion, distracting CGI, And that the Final Set piece is all over the place! I'm Sorry to kinda feel let down a bit even though I shouldn't be I know. It's just a ton of what I was looking forward to the most in the film seems to not hit with jmc that well and now I'm like "Oh no what should I expect now"

You've given MoS and BvS near full marks , so clearly a mess of finale shouldn't be an issue for you

I cried during BvS for inhaling a peanut and not being able to cough loudly. Tragic. What made you cry, the finale?

The opening murder sequence which surprised me, because Ive become so desentisized to Bruce's parents being murdered. I couldnt control myself when the bats took him up, because of what that symbolises, it was a very poignant moment.

Also Superman's death was very emotional for me. Logan's ending scenes were also the tear jerkers for me.

BTW anyone see it in 3D...how was it? Worth seeing it in 3D?

Watching this tonight. I am pumped!

Watching it in 6 hours. I hope the third time's a charm.

A stealth jet as a mini base for the JL when they're not in the watchtower sounds top to me.
