The Amazing Spider-Man Already in Post-Production?!

Despite the fact that GI joe had the worst plot, acting, dialogue and special effects of all time, I thought it was entertaining for a summer movie

This could have easily been released this July

This July? So, three months of post production, on a 3D, special effects heavy film? No way man.

Now, change that to winter and I agree with you. But I guess they feel summer is the best time to release it.

They should've taken a page out of the Superman reboot's book and released it this winter.

Right...so why sit on this movie for a year? This could have easily been released this July. Plus this year...it wouldn't be up against TDKR which will immediately squish it.

Are you normal?! Probably not. You're writing a lot of s**** in this Spider-Man forum but this is the biggest one!:doh:

No no no no no...no winter releases.

They could have started filming a little earlier. I am not advocating rushing post production but it seems that someone mis-managed the time table on this one. They could have easily started filming in the fall, finished up early this year, and had 5-6 months for post to be released in July the week after Harry Potter. Plus I don't think this movie is going to be effects heavy anyways.

Nice to meet you bapi. I have 12 fingers and toes like everyone.

Actually that's a good point. They're Codec is only released to Apple, or at least that was last i heard. Even so they'll be ways to transfer the footage into Avid. So who knows, guess it'll be up to the studio what they want to do.

TBH i don't really care what they edit it in, just as long as it looks AMAZING. :woot::awesome:

I mean, you can edit RED footage in Avid and Premiere, but the easiest and most intuitive way is FCP. Although, I just did a bit of research and apparently, the newest version of Avid can edit raw footage from those cameras, so it might be done in Avid after all if that's the editor's preference. I haven't kept up with editing technology in a couple of years because I haven't had an editing gig since 2009.

not only TDKR but the avengers too.

1. Creating substantial buzz and hype for one of the most popular super-heroes takes time.
2. Spider-Man is best marketed as a summer blockbuster, with 2011 being too soon considering post-production will most likely finish this summer.
3. Take into account this is Spider-Man, not some B-list hero going up against TDKR.

Basically, this ^.

The film finishes shooting in April. Even if Sony shot for a June release, that would not leave much time to mount a proper promotion. Right off the bat, we know there will be a video game and some sort of fast food/junk food promotion. The first few weeks before, or the week of a film's release, are an important window for associated product launches, because that is when the momentum will be at its greatest. Between April and this summer, there just is not enough time. I am sure they are also waiting for the launch of the new Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

and if my aunt had nuts she'd be my uncle. coulda.shoula. woulda. but didnt. they didnt start filming when you assume they "easily"could've. do you have a copy of sony's schedule on front of you? were all the actors clear for you a couple months ago? was the script approved a couple months ago? was all the financing approved a couple months ago? were all permits accepted and ready a couple months ago? were all locations available a couple months ago? were all safety/camera equipment available a couple months ago?

well...i think you get the point. they set a schedule this way for a reason, FOR WHATEVER REASON and they're sticking with it. your whiny ass can wait another year for it.

and your guestimate for post production with nothing more that more assumptions is laughable.

But why would they use The Daily Bugle for a marketing campaign when it's not even part of the movie?? :(

Haven't you seen the pics of the van? Daily Bugle will be a part of this movie for sure, however, how much we don't know.

Thumbs up for this post!

Well without J. J. Jameson, it's like the Daily Bugle doesn't exist imo :(

Hopefuly we'll see J. J. Jameson in the sequel then. I actually don't mind not seeing him in the first movie.

It would actually be cool to see Peter searching for a new job after working at Connors' lab in the sequel IMO.
Then we see J. J. Jameson for the first time.

Do you have a schedule? No. So you know just as much as I do which makes this entire post moot. You have no knowledge of anything so refuting my post is as pointless as taking time to put words IN ALL CAPS. Nobody spends 16 months doing post production on a movie.

I can wait 2 years for this...I am in no hurry. I won't be first in line at midnight anyways. Let it go up against TDKR and be smashed...I don't care. I am looking at this from a financial situation, not a fanboy situation like you seem to have gotten your panties bunched up over. Spider-Man would have done better financially had it been released this July. Now it has TDKR to battle with and it won't win that battle by a long shot. Ohhh someone is ornery today.
