Comics Amazing Spider-Man #584 -- Character Assassination part 1 (spoilers)

Best part of this last issue was the letters column. It sounds like Gale is gone for good, and Waid and Kelly have replaced him as main writers (which is great, since I think they've been the best of the BND team). Also sounds like Fred Van Lente will do more than just the Spot story, which is awesome. I love Van Lente's work and I think he's a great fit for Spidey.

2008 was pretty shaky, but this looks like it'll be a good year for ASM.

That is a better improvement. Lente's almost enough to make me buy an issue (wonder if he'll bring the puma back, he wrote him well in MODOK's 11), that or the prowler thing slott spoke about before. Kelly probably has the most natural inner voice for Pete that I've seen in a while.

I have to say, the conclusion to Character Assaination was really good and satisfying. Great ending, by the way.

Kinda off topic but, American Son is starting to look like New Ways to Die 2. Lets see, Thunderbolts vs. Spidey: check, Norman osborn vs Spidey: check, Menace revelations: check, Norman and Harry Father son issues: check.

Would somebody please explain to me why Spidey being captured ensured a victory for Hollister when it was Crowne who took up a stand against the Spider-Tracer killings.

Since I am a scrub according to this site, I can't post new threads. This one will have to do. Anyway, as much as Character Assassination was subpar to "New ways" I still enjoyed it. Aside from that, what were you guys' opinion on "The Return of the Spot"? I personally thought it was fantastic! I would like to see that duo of Van Lente and Siqueira return for more Spidey.
I would easily rate this issue in top ten BND stuff.

Modock's 11 was his best appearance, but this was a close second. When the mandarin trapped him he got pretty messed up but that was never directly explained. I loved his confession note.

The public were leaning towards Crowne because he had promised he would capture Spidey, that was his only platform. With Spidey behind bars, he lost that platform and people had no reason to vote for him.
