Yeah I have a stack of graphic novels that could reach the moon, and I’m a die hard for this stuff but the nitty gritty physical stuff simply doesn’t bother me at all. Gray haired old guy? Alright that’s good enough, that’s this new Matt Reeves take on Alfred it’s close enough. I mean as long as Bruce Wayne isn’t pink haired with red eye contacts I don’t find it distracting at all.

Honestly, I think the beard really suits andy serkis and I'm sure it's gonna suit Matt's vision.

Honestly I've always really dug the bearded Alfred of Earth One, so I have no problem at all with Andy Serkis' Alfred being depicted in a similar vein.

I wish he didn't look like a typical andy serkis at least in the Batman movie...

I dig his hair and beard. Interesting new look for alfred

I don’t mind a new and younger look for Alfred to go with a younger Batman. Hopefully these guys are in for the long haul.

I don't mind at all if Alfred has a beard,Idk it would make Al look kinda badass. I hope they are in for the long run as well. Who knows probably they are, as long WB/DC let them make other movies(kinda like what Marvel does, don't ever hold up your actors/actresses). Plus they might be gearing up for a bigger universe!:batty: and hopefully they will cross paths with this :super:

I'd love it if a recurring theme in reviews was that "this is Bruce and Alfred's film" or something to that effect. I'd want his Alfred to be used as much more of a wildcard than previous versions.

I've waited months to discuss something.

I can't see the "Alfred Qualities" in Andy Serkis. He's perhaps the less suitable actor to ever play the character.
His vibe is different.
In a film like this, they could embrace that vibe and used him for a villain. When it comes to the dark atmosphere that Batman films have, Serkis could even come off as creepy.
Looking at the featured villains here, and taking Serkis' height in the equation, he could have been Penguin.
He SHOULD have been Penguin.

Warner Brothers goes to incredible lenghts to cast against character. Sometimes they go TOO FAR (like Eisenberg), and they can't see it themselves.

In the case with Serkis, I'm not sure WB picked the actor that are the best for the character.
What if they cast with a backward logic just for the sake of it? Who knows?

A little fun parody here that might not be too far from reality:
"Serkis is a logical choice for Penguin, it's so obvious, and that's why we don't want him to play the villain"
"No-one would imagine Serkis as Alfred, so we cast him as the butler for that very reason"

Sometimes one has to wonder what's going on in their minds.

The only thing remotely odd about Serkis as Alfred is that he's a bit younger than normal.

This is like a textbook example of a fallacious argument. You do not establish any of your premises (such as what are the Alfred qualities or how Serkis lack them) and then go a rant about how this is part of WB's obsession with casting against type, which makes no sense considering this is a completely different creative team to the other examples you cite and Serkis has in fact played the role of confidante Butler to an eccentric, receive genius inventor quite successfully in the past.
