Annihilation Conquest

He could have grown and stomped on a few of them, at least...

Yeah, I thought being super-evolved made him reasonably powerful. He was a complete wuss in that fight against some loserly Phalanx drones, though.

Yeah, but it seems he devolved himself when he shrunk. Why he didn't 'grow' back seems strange if he needed more power. However, I think he was truly at his most powerful when he evolved into a pure energy being long ago. I still think what manifested afterwards was just a clone and the original is wandering the heavens.

So who is the badder machine god? DC's Hank Henshaw or the Phalanx Ultron?

They both have a penchant for coming back from the dead...

I saw it as High Evolutionary either seeing himself as a geneticist and not a fighter, and/or not wanting to risk being infected himself. I saw it as him believing he is above the fray. It isn't like he had trouble wasting the drones, just decided not to. Especially with a better plan to try to blow up Ultron, which actually wasn't too shabby, tactically speaking.

Yeah I guess the HE's actions in the last issue were fine. On an intellectual level I accept the reasons for what he did and how he did it.

Still though... The High Evolutionary should be an uber powerful badass. I wanted to see so much more than him just b****ing out and activating the self destruct.

well to bad, not every character is an uber bad-ass. I hate how people think that if a character is a massive powerhouse it automatically means they are bat-man level bad-ass, that is not realistic. Some of the biggest dudes in the real world are actually huge *****'s for the simple fact that nobody messes with them because how "Powerful" they look, but when it comes down to it those big dudes end up being the most scared. High evolutionary is one of those people.

Ummm... Do you have any idea how powerful the High Evolutionary actually is? It has nothing to do with him looking powerful he's easilly overpowered entire Avengers rosters and such.

He IS immensely powerful and there's never been a coward before. He's the type to prefer research and study to combat yes but every time before where he's been drawn into a fight he's proven himself extremely capable.

The only person on the scene who would have been even a remote threat to him would have been the new version of Ultron given that we dont know what his capabilities are and that he seems much more powerful than any previous encarnation.

Also as a sidenote Batman is hardly the benchmark for badassitude.

Maybe that's why he creates all those animal/human hybrids and has them hang around his castle; for protection

***k, the High Evolutionary faced down the likes of friggin' Galactus. While he predictably lost that confrontation, that did take LOADS of cahones to go head to head against the Devourer of Worlds.

Yeah, and hopefully the trick up his sleeves is named Genis-Vell.

I wish. I abandoned hope of Genis when Adam Warlock returned. The worst part, of course, is that Adam's "new personality" is pretty much the same as Genis' old personality, so if they'd just brought Genis back as his crazy self, the same damn story could've been told. :o

I abandoned hope when it turned out that Genis was not the dude on the cover to #3. Although, I suppose there's still a spark of hope that Genis is who Ronan's looking for.

I'm still unsure as to what's wrong with Adam. I know they woke him up too early, but why does he keep getting those migraines?

His new powers are still developing. I guess if they were left to develop in the coccoon, it would've been an easier process, but now that he's out and about, using some of his powers already, it's more painful.

That, and apparently you can't do a space epic without am emo hero who hurts when he uses his powers.

But they already had that with Wraith. And then Gabe was whining a little bit between losing his powers and... well, you know. Geez, the emometer's gotta be off the scale in AC.

By next issue, we'll see that Phyla needs to cut herself to use her powers.

After AC, I don't think there's any use for Wraith. I'd like to see him stick around but he's made himself out to be a 1-mission guy.
