Any new "Y: The Last Man" news?

I guess I Am Legend has kick started this movie into some kind of actual production talk.

Joseph Gordon Levitt would have been my pick. Shia, I'll wait and see.

Shia is the obvious choice for the role, so I'm not surprised by this news. I'm not exactly worried either though.

When I read the comic, Yorick's personality definitely reminded me so much of Shia's that it's almost a perfect match.

There's a big problem with casting Shia LeBouf in this role, and I'll tell you why. Shia is in this movie and there is no way it will NOT be released as PG-13.

Making this movie PG-13 would be a betrayal to the source material. It's not PG-13 material.

It really isn't, but it's not a hard R either. But if they plan on making this a trilogy, they need that first movie to make some bank, and frankly, making it PG-13 guarantees more bank, than a R rated movie.

For you to honestly say that, I can't seriously believe you've ever read a single issue of Y.

:whatever: :whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

Where did I say that I agreed they should make it PG-13, I agreed with you in the first sentence of my post.

Fact is, this is Hollywood, they will butcher the movie anyway (I am not behind Shia as Yorick, at all) and will try to make a quick buck off of it, those are facts.

Also, remember to buy the last issue today folks, the ending is fantastic.

Also to be clear, I think Shia LeBouf is a good choice for Yorick Brown. The problem is, he's cast as Yorick, and this becomes a PG-13 franchise thing which is wrong for Y.

Y would have to be the definition of HARD R.

For the graphic detail, I would agree, but there are ways around that, not that I would want it. They can always cover up all the **** and ass and the blood and gore, but yeah, I would not want them to remove the hilarious revelation of
Yorick's junk.

If Ewan McGregor could actually do a convincing American accent and was somewhat younger, he'd make a good Yorick.

Figure out why I suggested that.

The words Velvet Goldmine entered my head.:csad:

Eh, first time for everything. Maybe casting Shia would be good for the R rating, since the studios know there is an audience for him. It wouldn't be such a risk as opposed to casting an unknown.

Especially since he nails like 4 hot babes. Can't cover that up for the potential alone.

Remind me again, what was so funny about it?

Hollywood doesn't believe Shia has an R-rated audience. They believe he is strictly PG-13. And for something like Y which they apparently want to do as a big budget franchise now, they won't risk it.

He doesn't necessarily need an "R-rated" audience. Just that he has one. So whether the film is PG-13 or R, the audience will still follow the film because of Shia.

Crook, Hollywood is a lot more rigid than you think.

Plain and simple, if Shia is in this movie, there is no way it gets released with an R.

Maybe Shia himself wants the film to be rated R, staying true to the source material. Plus he may want to do something different then his usual PG13 fare.
Pretty much every big Hollywood star has had success with R rated thrillers/action movies. Will Smith, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Stallone, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Arnold Schwarzenegger etc. So if he's the next big thing he's got to do an R-Rated film sooner or later.

300 did well as rated R and you could probably do two sequels and they would do well. Watchmen will be the real test, if they can have a big budget intelligent story R-rated comic book adaptation then why not?

Can "Y: The Last Man" be viewed as a question? Why the last man?

meh, I'll take Topher Grace over Shia LaBeouf as Yorick any day...

I don't like Topher Grace at all, never have.

In my perfect world, Ryan Gosling would play Yorick.

He's so dreamy.

Ooh, didn't think of him... He'd be good.

It's the kind of part he could definitely pull off, but really unlike anything he's done before.
