Anyone afraid POTC 2 might break any Spidey Records?

I' ve seen POTC 2 and it's a Popcorn-Movie with Jokes, great Scenes and good Fights. It's normally that People like this movie. Next Year Spidey will break also some record.

POTC2 doesn't deserve to beat Spidey records, or make as much money as it did. Pirates had legions of fans waiting for DMC? I doubt it. The only reason why DMC made so mcuh was because Summer 2006 was seriously lacking in big movies.

Actually Summer 2006 had GREAT POTENTIAL to be very satisfying, but no, F'n RATner screwed up by giving us a bloated rushed piece of turd called X3 and Singer gave us a rehash of the Donner Superman movies, the only beacon of hope was POTC 2 and to me it was heads and tails above most of the crap they've shown this year so far. Spidey 3 will def. break records next year no doubt about it.

Man, Pirates...what a ****ty movie. But it's unfair to say that it doesn't have a story. Here's the story:

Once, there was a movie based on a theme-park ride that should have been terrible, but it wasn't, thanks to Johnny Depp. Then, Disney decided to milk the idea as much as possible and signed everyone on for two more movies before any new script was written. Finally, they realized that people will see the movies regardless of quality, so they nixed the script and spent $300 million on a giant octopus.

I really liked POTC 2. It was a fun and cool movie, sure Spidey is better, but I still liked POTC2.

Aa for breaking the record, It has Depp who is a great actor and he gets the teenage gals to come.It's a Disney movie. And uhh.. yeah I don't have much more reasons cause I really don't see how it broke the record.

I would, except that I haven't seen any of the X-men movies (or read the comics). But it seems like any movie based on a comic has more potential to disappoint than a movie based on a...ride at Disneyland...with only one dubiously worthwhile film as its predecessor.

well you missed out on 1 good movie, 1 excellent movie, and 1 movie that craps on the other 2 movies and then craps on an entire arc that is considered to be one of the most revered story arcs in recent comic book history, so you didnt miss a lot.

POTC DMC Didn't deserve to make as much money as it did, it had such a big BO because of the first movie, which was very good. The first POTC is one of my all time favorite movies, it had good action, was fun, and had a good plot. POTC2 was funny, had good action, but the plot just wasn't very good. It was like the 2nd Jurrasic park. It opened huge because the first was great, but it wasn't quite as good.

I still have hopes for the next POTC though.

I'd dissagree on one point. Johnny Depp wasn't the sole reason POTC 1 was great, Jeffory Rush also really helped to make that movie, and the plot really was pretty good. The second's....well it wasn't.

I don't know, going into the theater for POTC2 I just knew that the whole thing is just taking advantage of the first one, so that kind of ruined it for me. And while Johnny Depp's performance is great in the first one, as soon as the second one started I was sick of it already. Enough is enough, you know?

POTC 2 will probably break Spidey's record but I don't see the POTC3 BO being much different to 2. Spidey 3 should exceed Spidey 2 with the inclusion of Venom. It'll be close in 2007.

There are other movies next year that could give POTC3 some competition, because not only does a good movie open just about every weekend next summer, but I doubt POTC3 will take as much as POTC2 due to disappointment and many movies getting people's attention.


Btw, when POTC2 is the 8th highest grossing movie of all-time, there is something wrong.

No I do not think that POTC 3 will break Spidey 3's record, even maybe Spidey 2's. Why it's the curse of the back to back 2 and 3. LOTR did it right one year for each of them since day one. But just like Matrix Revolotions I bet a lot POTC 3 will just not do as well cuz so many were disappointed with 2, that and there was nothing else to really watch. With Spidey 3 there, it will ruin their B.O.
