Duh cuz the writers wanted it!!!

lol im just messing with you :p

I'm glad that was a joke. If everyone said "Cause the writers wanted it!" when referring to fictional characters' storylines, it just seems pointless.

but yea it was an approach taken by the writers i felt she could of taken control Xavier had faith in her to do so but i guess she couldn't. i just wish she would of sacrificed herself instead of having that God complex exaggerated overrated character kill her.

Well, whether or not Xavier thought she would make it out is unclear, because we all know even if he knew there was no way for her to be saved, he would have tried anyway. He loved Jean like she was his own daughter.

If we were talking comic Storm, yes it was strange but we're talking about Halle's Storm. Her version wasn't really connected on any level with any of the other characters in the movie, except a little for Nightcrawler. So her turning instantly on Jean isn't so strange.

*rolls dice*

Got Majik's post. :p

We all know that she was, we just never got to see it...

You mean the Halle-obsessed?
The less I see of Halle as a supercharacter the better.

No. I mean the people who actually understand Storm's character...

I understood her character, that's why her instant turn on Phoenix wasn't strange to me.

Could you expand on that? I'm not sure I follow you...

Just something random, here...

The weather in Storm's immediate vicinity changes with her emotions. Dark clouds can gather overhead if she's unhappy. Storm makes every effort to keep her emotions under control, but she's not always successful.

Found that on Storm's Sanctum Sanctorum, thought it was interesting...

That explains why her eyes weren't white as she was overlooking the school grounds on the balcony...

This also explains something to do with this topic. Storm always tries her best to keep her emotions under control... perhaps this is why she seemed somewhat careless towards the whole Jean/Phoenix drama. We all know deep down that she cared very deeply for what was happening (I do, anyway), the balcony scene shows her letting her emotions go, and then using her powers to clear up the clouds they'd left behind. Storm loved Jean, but being the strong leader/teacher that she is, hid her emotions on the subject.

... that's my take on it, anyway.

It wasn't my intention to come across so rude there... :O

I wonder what would have happened when they found his chair? A tsunami? :p

i dunno. maybe she caused katrina while filming it.

Storm was obviously jealous of Jean.

Yes, I'm sure she was jealous of the murdering of Cyclops and Xavier, losing total control of your own identity and personality and being trapped inside a body with another mind getting off on killing innocents.

That's got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard...

Haha! Nice. :p

I guess this is just another sign of the major problem this film had... it's ADD pacing.

See, with most of the plotlines, the connections ARE THERE for the story arcs, characters, and even to the other 2 movies. But the explanations are always just "okay, this is HOW it is", but it never gets into WHY anything is the way it is.

We don't know WHY the Phoenix ego was able to take over. Was it because Jean's normal conciousness "died" at Alkali Lake, so the alternate personality was able to take over?

We don't know what it was that destroyed her mental blocks. Was it Magneto's machine in X-Men? Was it dying in X2? It's just not explained WHY, it's just explained that it happened.

We don't know WHY Pyro has this hatred all of a sudden of Iceman. They were buddies, afterall, in X2. And I could understand a rivalry, but all of a sudden hating the guy, even to a point of wanting to kill him? Again, it's there, it makes sense, it's just not explained WHY.

We know that Callisto and the Morlocks (I refuse to call them Omega Muties), Multiple Man, and Juggernaut join up with Magneto. But WHY?

Now this. WHY does Storm give up on Jean so easily? We know it happens, but we don't know WHY.

Stuff just happens, and it's not always explained why. And some stuff isn't even really fully explained what's going on. Like the whole Jean contacting Scott thing. The movie doesn't imply that it's been happening the entire time since his death. We just see him once in his room, and it's happening.

This movie is just too much "this is what's happening, so accept it", and not enough "this is what's happening, and here is WHY it's happening"

And I think that's one of the major problems with this film. As an X-Men fan who knows these characters inside and out, I know their motivations inherently. I know why they do certain things. As a huge fan of the movies, I know why certain things are happening. But if I went in, not knowing anything about the X-Men except for the 1st 2 movies, I might not totally get what's going on.

Too much was taken for granted by this creative team. It was too much taken for granted that the audience knew all this stuff that was happening, or that they knew who these characters were. This movie really didn't need to force itself to an hour and 44 minutes. It really needed to be a bit longer, slow down a little bit, and dive into more of WHY things are happening, and WHY characters do what they do. The writers made one fatal error when making this film, and that was ASSUMING that the audience KNEW what they were trying to do.

For a fan like myself who already knows the connections and motivations, it doesn't hurt TOO hard. But for people who just don't know, it's turned into a typical summer popcorn flick that you either enjoy cuz it's got some nice action, or you dislike because it doesn't involve you enough in the world.

Exactly... and very nicely explained I might add. ;)

Maybe about the Logan relationship but I don't think so powerwise. Storm wants some loving and she almost got it in X-2 with Nightcrawler but he it was too hectic at the school for him to stay and form a relationship with her. Oh well.
