Are there certain kinds of Fanboys that annoy you? - Part 1

Far from it.

It's the same mentality. There's either this, or that. What I like, do, am is better than what you like, do or are. If you want to start a big stink about how much better Marvel is to DC or Macs are better than PCs, or Coke is better than Pepsi, then you may as well be a Nazi, cuz it's the same illogical thought process.

Pretty much.

What it boils down to... it's favouring corporations that don't give a **** about you accept how much money you wanna give them. Marvel or DC don't give a crap about us, they just want our money. So taking sides is not only just plain stupid, but you're denying yourself to a wider variety of great comics just because of some simple minded favouritism.

I don't like when people get their opinion on Aquaman from Family Guy.

Messagboard users who use the word 'noob' with a straight face.

It's only four letters but I read stuff like that and I might as well be reading the words:
"I'm a sad little loser boy whose entire life revolves around complaining about things online. I'm scared ****less of the real world, have never had a girlfriend and derive my self-esteem solely through how many more posts I have here than you. Also: Small penis!"

heh...noob. :oldrazz::woot:

That's why I prefer to use the term Newb. :o

At least then you're spelling it right. I can understand the odd bit of online shorthand (I type "gonna" and "wanna" instead of "going to" and "want to" all the time), but newb (short for newbie) and noob contain the exact same number of letters and are pronounced the exact same way. There is literally no reason to spell it "noob." It's like that one user a few years back who used to type th' instead of the, even though I've never in my life heard anyone say "the" without some sort of vowel sound at the end.

And with that digression, I'm waiting for someone to say they hate grammar nazis.

I don't think it's the same really. They're being a thought elitist or something like that....but I'd hate to think that someone who has suffered because of the Nazis or racists would be lumped in with a guy being told that DC sucks.

Clearly you never been to the Bat boards then. :o

Now that's a joke

I spent too much time in the Batboards.....I'm trying to scrub it off....

I love this post. I went to college for Journalism and work in publishing so sometime work creeps into just hanging out online. But yes, bad grammar, contractions, "internet speak" tend to bug me. I usually remind myself that I'm not being paid to edit and loosen up myself a bit.

Fanboys that think that liking DC characters makes anyone a DC fan and liking Marvel characters makes anyone a Marvel fan. And that it's a given that being fan of one makes you against the other.
It's more ridiculous taking sides if you see credits to most of the titles of both companies have common names (i.e Chuck Dixon on Batman & Moon Knight)

I think the worst kind of fanboys are the misinformed ones, who go off into tangents despite not knowing what the heck they're talking about. It's self entitlement and ignorance that gets me.

Also, does everything have to be so absolute. Do you have to pick side or another? When not see things from both sides and THEN judge for yourself.

Not to be derogatory, I don't know if it's asbergers syndrome or emotional immaturity that prevents some fanboys from being..reasonable.

I've personally never read a DC comic or watched a DC movie in my life. However Marvel is my life.
The fanboys/girls that annoy me, as most of the people on the Avengers boards know, is the ones who say how much the love Marvel, create blogs about it, endlessly talk about it...but they just watch the films. They act as if they know EVERYTHING about the characters, when in truth, they know very little.
I also have no problem with DC fans, I think DC is probably brilliant. I would just feel I was cheating on a life long partner if I began reading DC. Also, there's not a wide variaty of DC collector's editions (best way to buy comics in Britain) in my area.

Fanboys who hate everything that's mainstream, even if it's good. They always have to like the latest indy underground band that no one else knows about. And the indy band they liked last year is suddenly lame to them because they "sold out" when everyone else started liking them. I guess they're like hipsters, but they have less sex and are somehow even more annoying.

Chris Brown fanboys, usually teenage girls that can't process the fact their idol is a misogynistic monster. If you remind them what he did to Rihanna, they call you racist or jealous. Anything to draw attention away from the ugly truth.

Likewise, Michael Jackson fanboys love claiming "conspiracy" or "misunderstood" whenever you bring up the fact he was tried for child molestation twice. He was a great musician, like Roman Polanski is a great director. That doesn't mean they're great human beings.

I didn't even like his music in all honestly. And I agree, I hate the so called "hipsters". I also hate stupid people, but that belongs to another board.

A friend of mine pointed out that once "I'd let Chris Brown beat me" was a trending topic on Twitter. All of the posts were completely serious. My soul cried.

Stop hatin!

Anybody who attacks Chris Brown for abuse against women must be jealous inside.

amiright? :woot:

I too can't understand why people seriously like Chris Brown.
