So the rumor I read somewhere is that after all this OMD madness, MJ is gonna be a superhero called Jackpot?

Well there's been no DEFINITE verdict on that just yet but, everything is pointing towards that. She's going to be given superpowers and become a heroine named Jackpot.

    Cool huh?

When I came up with the idea of giving MJ powers on these boards to give her a bit of variety, everyone told me the idea sucked  A professional writer comes up with the idea, and everyone likes it :wow:

I don't like the marriage being retconned. I think its ridiculous and unneccassary. But MJ having powers has potential. And hopefully the costume would be hot.

I personally hate the concept of MJ being a superhero.

I always admired the fact that despite the fact she had no superpowers of her own, she was always a heroine to Spider-Man by displaying mankind's greatest ability- the ability to care. That's just me though.

I also hate the idea of her being a superhero...it's stupid.

Anyone else remember when Peter had a supporting cast that DID NOT concsist entirely of superpowered folk? And yes....Aunt May is now officially a superpowered woman...anyone who defies death so often is CLEARLY not human.

You know...I've been a defender of Spider-Man over the last few years, when it seemed like it was in vouge to hate everything that happened in the book. I felt there were some good idea, and they were well written, which was the most important part.

But if the effect of OMD/BND is really going to be making Spider-Man consistently like the terrible, terrible, terrible Free Comic Book Day one shot, I'm dropping the book. Thank god for Ultimate.

Hey is it just me or was the dialogue in Swingshift really corny and dated? "That's Jackpot!. One of the city's new Heroes!", "Jameson's right, you are a menace!" (cripes how many times have we heard that??) . It feels like they're reverting everything back to the 60's.

MJ being a superhero is such a stupid idea. Why would they want to turn MJ into a superhero? MJ sohuld jsut be Peter's wife and be there for him and love him, not turn into some superhero.

She's probably got some really cool and important power, like changing into water, rollerblading real fast or shrinking to one inch in height. Or her hair changes color with the merest thought. :whatever:

I know what Jackpot's power is...
She makes Spider-Man fans cringe and feel hatred whenever they see her...

Holy cow! That’s just awful! Like…lame 80’s bad. She looks like she should team up with NFL Superpro! And the dialogue reads like it’s out of ones of those old Hostess Cupcake ads that used to be in comics. I’m all for making the marriage vanish but making MJ this ultra-lame “hero” is just unnecessary. If everyone wasn’t so whiney about MJ and Peter not being married, they probably wouldn’t have kept her around as a hero. That’s probably a move to appease the people that don’t see Spider-Man as an individual character for some reason.

I couldn't disagree with everyone more. I love the idea of this storyline!

It will be a great experience for MJ to see a little of what Peter's life is really like.

It seems to me that everyone is treating this like this status quo is going to last forever. How can you know so little about comics?

This is a storyline. Like Norman Osborn running the Daily Bugle or Flash being in a coma.

I'll admit that haveing read it I am hateing one more day. I find it forced and stupid. Yet Dan Slott is my favorite writers so I believe that he can make something good out of it. If not then I always have Spider-girl.

Yeah, I got that weird feel too. When's the last time Spidey was called a "menace?" the 80s? and even then it was old.

And check out Spidey's head! Like an egg with big circles for eyes. Looks like an issue from the "Free" bin.
