The Winter Soldier Arnim Zola

I still maintain we'll see him in AoS next. But yes, I imagine he'll be back in Cap 3 as an interim controller of HYDRA until Red Skull bifrosts back down from wherever he is (seriously, what happened there?!)

It would have been funy if Nick Fury had fought Arnim Zola as a virus in his computer:

"I've had it with this M***F**** Zola in my M*****F***** iPad!"

How much do you guys think Zola will play a role, if any, in Age of Ultron?

Well, of course it's just speculation... but when I think about it...

Zola is an AI now, like J.A.R.V.I.S. is an AI.

J.A.R.V.I.S will get an android body to become Vision.

But what is the AI basis for Ultron?

I don't expect Zola to become Ultron... that would be too much of a change from the source material...

But maybe some newly invented program gets corrupted by the Zola AI... and that becomes Ultron?

Arnim Zola in this movie reminded me of this dude from "Captain Planet".

Let me just say that the fact that Marvel was willing to go as far as they did with Zola's appearance, while Warner Brothers seems so ashamed of the campier aspects of the DC Universe, fills this Marvel fan with utter delight.

I´m thinking that Zola, Howard and possibly Pym worked for Shield back then. They managed to find a way to transfer your brain into computers. Pym did it first, not entirely, just brain scans. A basic versions of sorts.

Perhaps Pym took his own brain scans and made the basic version which then each man took and developed. That´s why Jarvis deep deep down share the "unstable" flaw as seen in IM3. Perhaps that´s why Zola was left in that building, he became unstable as he jumped into the computers because he used/based his work on the Pym scans originally. Ultron could be the continuation of Pym´s own version stolen by Hydra. That in combination with Zola´s aligorithm = chaos.

Let's not get carried away.

I don't really think that was "going far" with Zola's appearance. They showed a blurry image of a face on an old computer. Hardly a perfect translation.

Still, it was a nice surprise and nod despite the exposition-heavy appearance, and I would imagine we'll be seeing him in his more modern form in Cap 3.

Hopefully with his robot body next time we see him.

His scene was one of my favorite things about this whole movie. It was so creepy.

I knew , like most here, that Zola was going to be TWS in some capacity, but I totally forgot about him when I went to see the movie yesterday

It was super cool and creepy

And they got the camera right

It got me by surprise as well. When i first saw the camera all i thought was, oh, it's a security camera, they're being watched. Then the moniter blinked on and it dawned on me at that moment. I was, coool.

His reveal was cool, campy and creepy at the same time. Love it!

I knew Zola would be in the movie, but I never expected him to be that creepy. 'I am not a recording . . . ' Terrifying.

Oh yes, the Swiss line was funny. I also really love the accent Toby Jones was doing. It was awesomely hilarious. And apparently Zola was responsible for
Howard and Maria Stark's deaths.
I wasn't expecting that revelation.

Ya, I forgot about him up until that point. The camera head didn't even register with me .... and then his face came on the screen. Put a smile on my face.

You know what would have been cool? If somehow Zola himself was responsible for his intelligence being transferred into the computer. Remember how they talk about how he doesn't want to die in CAP? Maybe he NEVER wants to die, and voila.

Good idea. I hope he didnt die in the missle attack and uploaded himself somewhere else in the nick of time.

We know that Sen. Stern is a Hydra agent. Was Stane a Hydra agent?

I think it's likely. I don't remember what Zola said in the bunker, but I got the impression that he put his own survival before all else, and the calm way in which he awaited the bombing seemed odd to me. If a person goes to the trouble of uploading himself to a large data bank to survive illness, I suspect he'll have found a way to survive. With the MCU seemingly set to go on for years, I suspect Feige is giving himself plenty of opportunity to bring back popular villains.

Exactly

I'm sure we see him again, bank on it.

I could have sworn the Zola program said that it was someone else who chose to put him into a computer, not that he had any role in that. I'd have to see it again to know for sure, maybe its vague enough that they can still go the self-survival route.

Please do.

He put himself in there. SHIELD equipped him with the technology to do it, unbeknownst to them. The guy he mentioned was the guy who couldn't help him with his physical affliction.

i have a feeling Zola is probably uploaded a back-up of himself to an internet connection when Natasha used the apple store to triangulate his original position.

I doubt it. If he were, he probably would have had a closer connection with SHIELD than was apparent, and also been a lot less panicked that SHIELD was getting evidence against him from Pepper.

He just was an unknowing beneficiary of a HYDRA-orchestrated assassination, and the kind of person they preferred to be in a position of power.
