Anyone else up for the next season of (red) Arrow? 'Cos I could go for that
In all seriousness, this episode fluctuated between very cool and 'oh my god I want to flip all the tables'.
Oliver's plan was pretty sound, in my opinion. His execution of his plan was pretty terrible. You want to bring down a plane, don't mess with the engines, bomb the damn thing or make it nose-dive or something. (Anyone else get a flashback of the 90's comic where Ollie actually did die stopping terrorists on a plane?)
I liked Ray, and have done for a while, (and I also like Cold in the Flash and I loved Sara, so I'm hoping to love the spinoff). I really liked his commitment to his job of saving people, and I don't mind Felicity saving Oliver because all I was thinking was 'Good choice, Ray, you save those people.'
Thea and Laurel: A++
Nyssa: A++ for Katrina Law, A- for the writers (that ending rubbed me the wrong way)
Not a happy bunny when it comes to Diggle and Felicity *****ing at Oliver while Starling was in danger. Again, the writers called themselves out for doing something dumb (through Diggle), but only after doing something dumb (and in the same episode, so they clearly knew they were doing something wrong way before even finalising the scripts).
Actually rolled my eyes so hard it hurt at Felicity rewording the 'My name is Oliver Queen' opening monologue.
Wasn't a fan of Oliver beating Ra's in a straight fight, especially as they made it pretty clear throughout the rest of the episode that Ra's outclassed him. (P.S. how terrible are Ra's' swords that they break and that Oliver and Ra's can both catch them without having their hands cut off?)
The riding off into the sunset ending:
In summary: I'm bored of both Oliver and Felicity. Can we just watch Laurel, Thea and Diggle fight crime together and find Stephen Amell a different job where the writers actually give him a not annoying character? That or just use a Flashpoint Paradox event in the Flash to retcon his 'progression' this season? (but somehow retain Thea and Laurel, since they are really cool now).
