Comics Asm #534 *spoilers*

Pretty art, but I see Spidey once again has the porportions of a child.

But the costume's tight so that makes you happy, right? ;)

I wonder if the cover is going to turn out to be misleading. Everyone seems to think Spidey with kick Iron Man's a**. You could have thought the same thing from #534's cover with Cap. He certainly didn't beat the crap out of Cap but the cover suggested he might. I think there's a good chance the same will happen with Iron Man. They'll mix it up but nothing meaningful happens. Wouldn't surprise me if that's how it goes.

*heh, a good possibility. The best parts are in shadow!*:p

Yeah, it could be that Spidey's preventing Iron Man from capturing another metahuman, allowing them to escape. That's the thing with covers. Sometimes they're spot on, and sometimes they're completely misleading.

Perhaps it's all part of a cunning plan to deceive us and it's really all just a dream sequence and none of it really happened. No Stamford, no registration act, hell you could go all the way back to the other and sins past with that excuse, or even further. It could even be a way for JQ to get out of the marriage! Peter wakes up in his dingy Chelsea apartment with a "wha?" and a confused expression to find a news story on the tv he left on saying the Big Wheel was terrorizing upper Manhattan. Or JQ could go even further still and have Peter wake up in Aunt May's house with a "wha?" and a confused expression as he fumbles for his glasses and here's May calling, "Peter. Wake up Peter. I've got your favorite wheatcakes ready. You don't want to be late for school!" That solves all of JQ's problems of Peter being married, old, and unmasked.

I need a scotch.

Or one day he could wake up next to MJ and, "What!?"
Its Mystique, and she reveals it always has been her married to Peter.
That ends the married problem easily.

Finally got a chance to pick up ASM 534.

Actually enjoyed it. The thing that's so weird about this whole event is that In ASM Spidey is acting confused and lost as to what he should do. It didn't look like his heart was in the Captain America fight at all. He was shamed of himself and rightfully so. I'm so damn glad that Peter is finally on to Iron Man's little tricks and it's good to know that these two are going to clash soon. Just hoping that Spidey fights him in his class red and blue.

Not this junk that Tony made for him.

Honestly Peter should have known something was up with the suit just by the look of it alone. No legit suit is THAT ugly.:)

I will say this....as against JMS as I am, if he wrties a good storyline where Peter PUMMELS the HELL out or IRON MAN.....I'll buy it....at least the issue in which they throw down in, at least. Not that I hate Iron Man or Tony Stark, it's just that, while Tony has been encouraging Peter's intellectual assets and such, he's also been pretending he's a dumbass and manipulating him all along.

Iron Man IS a hero, but he needs to be reminded of how a hero should act. Spying on your comrades who are wholly on your side is over the line. If he were spying on Cap, I could see it, but Peter has never been on any side but Tony's, and Tony seems to be the one pushing him over to the other side with his underhanded tendencies.

I agree completely.

You may get your wish in ASM # 535.

Yea but seeing how Marvel has treated Spidey lately.

It wouldn't shock me to see Spidey get beat down instead. :o

Lol I'd love that:up: :spidey:

Hopefully, I will get ASM #535 early also. If so, I'll start another thread

Agreed on that, ragingdemon. Plus, Iron Man doesn't look that physically ruffled in the panels Marvel has been foolishly advertising as the 'climax of Civil War' (the Cap/ Iron Man fight). If anything I expect Peter to chide him a tad and then leap out into the night using the new spider-wings spiders will evolve to have sometime in the plothole-ridden future.

Spiderman-prime anyone......

DARN IRON MAN! I'm really starting to get annoyed at him.

Also if the cover is anything to go by, Pete is fighting Iron Man in the costume designed by IRON MAN. That's just plain stupid! Tony knows that suit better than anyone else and who's to say he didn't design some fail safe system in case something went wrong (i.e. Pete changes his mind). I really don't think this "beat down" is going to be much of a beat down. Tony has the upper hand and judging by the last fight with Cap, Spidey is not at his best right now.

You've instilled evil images in the recesses of my brain...

I knew when I checked User CP something had already disturbed the Force. :(

Well, if he fights Stark in the Iron Spidey suit it's not even going to be that much of a surprise who'd win the fight.

I honestly don't think Marvel would write off Peter as being THAT stupid. At least....I hope not.

You would think that Spidey being the flagship of Marvel that the writers would have a little respect for his fans but I too as a die hard Spidey fan worry he will get an embarrassing beatdown from Iron Man. First Cap then Iron Man. Not looking good for Spiderman. He probably will get his ass whipped by J. Jonah down the road the way it is looking.

exactly, this is unbelievable! Someone please EXPLAIN to me how Spider-Man can get beaten by someone he's like 10 times stronger than (especially after "the other"). Not to mention faster, and spider-sense. Which is exactly why the "trained" routine doesn't work.
A 5 yr old who knows karate isn't gonna beat up a 20 yr old.
Millar wrote Spidey perfectly in civial War 3. Then in ASM534, Strazynski, the inconsistent noob that he is, had Capt beat Spider-man.

I'm not buying the "his heart wasn't in it" argument. Oh, I supposed Captain America's heart was it in right? Even if spidey's heart wasn't in it, but Capt's was, how can spiderman take the hits like a punching bag? He should've been able to dodge them with ease.

I ****in hate it when they short change a hero's powers, especially Spider-Man, which happens alot. they could've easily had another interfere which causes Spider-Man to lose the upperhand.

I just want to know what Strazynski was thinking!

Also, wasn't peter bitten by the spider when he was 17? Why is he saying 15? is this another pathetic attempt by marvel to make spider-man younger? among other stupid things like Tony calling Peter son.

I'm telling you, it's the same reason Ultimate Cap can beat Ultimate Hulk...a mix of Jesus powers and bad writing. :( In all seriousness though, the fact that Peter is being so massacred physically and characterisically is why I don't pick up 616 Spider-Man anymore. Watch...years from now we'll be hearing how easy Morlun was to beat, and how it was just because Peter 'didn't have his heart into it' that he was killed the first time around...

whats even worse is I just read the characters section of Marvel.com. They have Spider-Man listed as being able to bench 15 tons BEFORE "the other" and his strength after "the other" is unknown. And get this, Captain America is listed as being only in Peak Human Condition. Absolutely ridiculous. I seriously hope Marvel hears from the readers about this. I'll be pissed if they don't fight again with Spider-Man totally destroying him.

hmm, you do realize that Ult Cap didn't beat Ult Hulk? he held his own and kept him distracted by beating on him while still getting heavily damaged.

I'm not taking anything away from Cap since it still takes a lot to hang in there with Hulk but he didn't physicaly beat him. and Ult Cap is physicaly stronger than 616 anyhow so what whas your point? :D
