I think AC3 will be the end of Desmond's story, but there'll definitely be more games set in different eras. This franchise could last forever & potentially stay fresh for that long.

Um, I might sound stupid here but...isn't Assassin's Creed Revelations meant to be the third game? Or is that another sort of spin off like Assassin's Creed Brotherhood?

Does this mean we're getting another Assassin's Creed game next year that has a new character?

Brotherhood and Revelations arent spinoffs. Brotherhood picks up exactly where 2 ended and technically thats the third game. However the 3 games of 2-Revealations represent Ezio's trilogy. The new game will presumably focus on Desmond and possibly introduce a new assasin and that will be the actual AC 3

I think it would be safe to expect AC3 to be released next year, since it would finally set the game in the present (2012). But part of me kinda wishes they`d take 2 years to make it like they did with AC2 so they could make it different than the Ezio trilogy.

If they had sense they would have slowly been developing it secretly since AC II.

Alright then here are the things I want for Assassin's Creed 3...

• A new character. Ezio is fun but new is better
• A setting that doesn't involve America, Paris or World War II. America and World War II because they've been done so many times before and Paris because I dislike the French.
• Perhaps Russia as a location? Especially during the October revolution? Perhaps a chance to learn the origins of Abstergo industries.
• A playable female assassin. If Arkham City can have Catwoman, Assassin's Creed should have someone too.
• Return of the Brotherhood
• Using animals as weapons. It would be fantastic to be a falconer.
• Great story is a must. It's what made Ezio more enjoyable than Altair (arguably)

Well this much has been confirmed.... A new, numbered AC game means a new Assassin, Ubisoft have said as much. And the stories have been so good in the last 2 games (and is fully expected of Revelations) there is no reason why any future installments would be any different.

Not that this is a big surprise or anything, but Ubisoft has confirmed a new game for next year, which will be the end of Desmond's story. The way they phrase it, it sounds like this won't be the last AC game we see.

Ubisoft Confirms 'Major' Assassin's Creed for 2012

"Another great, full-fledged Assassin's Creed title."

During an investor call earlier today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that a new Assassin's Creed title is coming next year. Guillemot says the game will be a "major" installment in the series.

"There will be another great, full-fledged Assassin's Creed title next year," he told investors. "It will be another major release and we will be communicating more about it in the coming months."

This confirms comments made by Assassin's Creed Revelations Creative Lead Alexandre Amacio last month. According to Amacio, the new game will feature the end of Desmond's story.

"In Assassin's Creed we set up a timeline with this whole end of the world plot of December 2012. That's fast approaching, and the story we have to tell, we obviously need to do it before we arrive at that point," Amacio said at the time. "Assassin's Creed is all about cycles - we have the Ezio cycle and the Altair cycle, and both of those are set to conclude in Revelations and we have the Desmond cycle, which is set to end on December 2012."

I'm sure they will. Brotherhood and Revelations are sort of sub-chapters to the overall series. But I hope that the changes from II to III are as great as they were from I to II, because I never liked how Brotherhood felt more like a huge DLC pack than a new game, and I fear that Revelations will be the same. And of course, that's only natural since the games were released a year apart. But I really hope that they've been working on III on the side.

I'd love that (especially since Russian history is one of my favorite subjects), but there was already a 3-part comic that occurred during that period. Chances of it are slim. I hope AC3 keeps a European setting.

I hope they move away from Europe the places of my choosing are Japan right before the modernization. The other place I really would like is South America sometime after the Mayan extinction. Both of these places are full of legends and stories about aliens and give a different feel and style to the new game.

For one ancient Japanese stories say their entire early civilization is based on a alien culture. There is also a section of ocean off the shore of Japan which has the same reputation for unexplained disappearances as the Bermuda triangle. Best of all your assassin would be a ninja.

They have the Nazca lines which can only be seen from space, legends of their ancestors they call the "Sky People".

As soon as I read Ninja, I immediately thought of how cool it would be to fight as a ninja and against samurai. I think in terms of location it would be cool too, just as long as the don't make feel too similar to Ninja Gaiden or something. But I'd imagine that if they ACIII a Desmond only game, then we wouldn't see this until the next story that they tackle.

As for South America, that could play into that the 2012 stuff since it links to how the world is already supposed to end in the game unless Desmond finds out how to stop it. But for some reason I keep thinking of jungles and not many buildings that could be used, unless they do some place like Rio de Janiero where there are lots of buildings and slopes for Desmond to travel on.

But now this makes me wonder, would people rather play in one big location like we had with Rome and now Constantinople, or several smaller ones like we had in AC I and II?
