Assassin´s Creed III

Assassin's Creed III was confirmed to have another ancestor assassin a few weeks ago. I'd love to see Ninja Assassins vs Samurai Templars.

Ninja are fairly obvious as Assassin territory; I couldn't make the same translation for Samurai as Templar, though. And I like medieval Japan and all, but it's been done to death in games for decades now. One of the neat things about AC is that they explore realms of history that are virtually untouched in gaming --- The Holy Land from the POV of both Crusader and Saracen; Renaissance Italy; Ottoman Turkey. I'd be willing to bet that ACIII continues that trend that bucks the trend, and we'll see someplace entirely new....not medieval Japan, WWII Europe, ancient Rome, or the modern world. Maybe Revolutionary/Napoleonic France, Russia on the eve of the Revolution, Moghul India, Imperial China....a place and a time rich in intrigue and politics, a place where assassins thrived, a place that other games haven't dared to go.

It's a shame they would never consider visiting the Weimer republic. I mean, you couldn't get a more politically charged environment with monarchists, traditionalists, democrats, fascists and communists all locked in with each other.

They'd never consider it though because we all know who won eventually and I don't think people would want to play as that. Also, it would probably stray to close to World War II territory and we've seen that way to much in video games.

Still hoping for something a bit different like Russia, Korea of Ukraine. It would be awesome to see Yaraslav the Wise!

All these are great ideas. Ubisoft should just make all those DLC. I know I'd pay $10 for a DLC similar to The Da Vinci Disappearance but with all these different historic settings.

I think it kind of works (Templars being Samurai) because the Templars are usually in government positions, and the Samurai held high positions of power or directly worked with/for people who were in high positions of power. I think I remember from history class that they were basically warrior families, or like ancient Japan's special forces. Ninjas are more like mercenaries.

Now I'm not saying the Samurai necessarily have to be Templars, but it could work, or they could just be controlled by Templars.

I personally think it'll be 1780's France, though.

Oh god I hope not. Seriously, anywhere else but France. To quote James Gandolfini in 'In the loop'

"War is hell. Once you’ve been there, you never want to go again unless you absolutely have to. It’s like France."

Yeah, France doesn't sound as appealing as Japan does. Though its funny because I was reading the History of Assassin's Creed article at IGN, and they mentioned how someone rumored the French Revolution to be the setting behind ACII back when it was announced that there would be a new assassin and time period.

It's most likely China going by Assassin's Creed: Embers.
Bring out your chopsticks and straw hats.

But there's less of a direct war between ninjas and samurais, unlike the eternal war of Assassins and Templars. And the traditional samurai code of bushido doesn't necessarily corellate with the Templar philosophy of order and science.

Revolutionary France was always strongly hinted at in the series, with direct allusions to symbols of the Revolution like the Phrygian cap (and some others that I can't remember right now).

I'm waiting to see what's in the Encyclopedia because I'm sure they have more listing of Assassins from other other time periods.

In fact, I just looked at the trailer for it and they mention Shao Jun, a female assassin who once met Ezio, which I believe happens in Embers, so AnorexicBatman could be right about that. I wouldn't mind if they did that next. China is cool too plus I love her look, and a female assassin could be cool to play as.

That's true. But what I mean to say was that it's not all ninjas vs. all samurai, but some samurai who are Templars vs. some ninjas who are Assassins. If it WAS Samurai/Ninjas, I was trying to say it does make sense for the Samurai to be the Templars. I don't know of any all out war between Samurai and Ninjas either (obviously, ninjas being paid mercenaries to assassinate political officials and warlords, I'm sure they've fought), but the Assassin-Templar War was never really an all-out public war. When fights did happen in public, the citizenry never knew the full purpose or belligerents. It COULD work, I just don't think it will happen in the immediate future.

And I agree with whoever said they wish it wasn't France, but I really think it will be. I'm sure it will still be amazing. And the French Revolution really was an amazing moment in history: An entire country goes bat$&*^ insane. I read that the streets were like rivers of blood for a good long while. "Republic of Virtue".... nice place to visit, although only in a video game. haha.

I'm hoping future Assassin's Creed games (after III) do various points in history AND different legendary myths (Like Perseus, Achilles, Gilgamesh, whatever) in the Assassin's Creed style.

I'm not even gonna bother trying to guess. Ubisoft are nothing, if not unpredictable.

Yeah, they like to keep us on our toes. I'm so excited for Revelations, can't wait to have some answers. Every game that comes out makes me want to ask more questions, but they said this game is supposed to close a lot of plot points.

Err, yeah, this isn't the Revelations thread. My bad.

Anyone play Project Legacy? At the end of Brotherhood, they made it almost obvious that France would be in III, but Project Legacy just bounces around all over. With Giovanni Borgia's adventures seeming to be the "main" story in Project Legacy, it almost made me think that what he does has to do with the third game as well. But I don't remember any references to France specifically, but the Golem of Prague was weird. As is The Book that Paracelsus used. The Book doesn't seem like a Piece of Eden, yet it has some sort of weird power. the Book is advanced technology that looks like it's made out of paper. Just weird. And the Golem? How did that happen? There's no magic in Assassin's Creed, just advanced technology. DAMMIT UBISOFT YOU JUST KEEP CONFUSING ME.

Can't wait till we find out AC3's ancestor assassin, let alone the setting in which it will take place.

I've said it before but I'll say it again: I'd luh-huv to see ACIII take us to Revolutionary Paris (with an up and coming Bonaparte waiting in the wings), *and* move the action overseas to a young America. Paris and Philadelphia, with Washington DC in its first stages of construction. If anybody embodies the Templar philosophy and symbolism, it's the Founding Fathers.

If they did some sort of cross over with The Count of Monte Cristo, I would LOVE that. In the book, there are a lot of references to Assassin's and the whole Assassin/Templar war would fit in VERY well.

I've had a similar idea, but then realized the whole mystery aspect of the game would be gone if you've read the book.

US cities would be very boring to run around though.

They could be like "secret locations".... although making a trip to America for every mission would take months of that Assassin's life.... which could work, if the Assassin's Creed III assassin has his entire life in that one game I guess.

I'm guessing that since Desmond is locked in the Black Room in Revelations, there won't be any Desmond gameplay (outside of the puzzles and stuff) like there was in AC 1-Brotherhood.

Which leads me to believe that the third game that's going to be released next year will be dedicated completely to him, as a proper assassin. They've given us teasers in Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood.

Yeah, I'm not too convinced that we'll even see a new assassin in ACIII. Maybe they'll set it up, but there's a lot of other assassins and history that hasn't really been touched on in the games so I don't see why they'll start now without doing a full Desmond game.

They haven't mentioned anything about a new assassin in the link posted a page back.

During an investor call earlier today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that a new Assassin's Creed title is coming next year. Guillemot says the game will be a "major" installment in the series.

"There will be another great, full-fledged Assassin's Creed title next year," he told investors. "It will be another major release and we will be communicating more about it in the coming months."

This confirms comments made by Assassin's Creed Revelations Creative Lead Alexandre Amacio last month. According to Amacio, the new game will feature the end of Desmond's story.

"In Assassin's Creed we set up a timeline with this whole end of the world plot of December 2012. That's fast approaching, and the story we have to tell, we obviously need to do it before we arrive at that point," Amacio said at the time. "Assassin's Creed is all about cycles - we have the Ezio cycle and the Altair cycle, and both of those are set to conclude in Revelations and we have the Desmond cycle, which is set to end on December 2012."
