There's a typo in one critic's rating atm. It says 9/510(aka ~0.2/10) instead of 9.5/10. If that was fixed the average rating would be 7.5 instead of 7.4.

Not exactly. The Last Jedi was panned by the audience.

Infinity War is acclaimed by both audiences and critics.

True, I was just saying about the trending of the audience score vs critic scores are in opposite directions. Yes the critics do like IW, but the seemed to like BP better.

That's a really good score still. I mean perhaps the fanboys set their expectations a bit too high here?

I went in with high expectations, and the movie exceeded them.

I really feel like this movie is a love letter to the fans. It's amazing. This movie didn't play things safe, but at the same time, Marvel made this movie with the fans in mind. I really do feel that way.

And even if the critics flat-out hated it and it had a rotten RT score, I would be sitting here like "Yeah, the critics are wrong. The movie is fantastic" and brush it off.

Excerpt from one review on RT: " It's also, at least arguably, a dangerous movie for anyone who cares about the future of American cinema."

This kind of BS makes me roll my eyes with irritation.

That review is from Salon.

Salon once published articles on their site defending pedophiles. Seriously. They deserve zero attention.

See I don't really buy the "it didn't play it safe" argument. It's not nearly as 'risky" as some are making it out to be imo.

Personally I think that it's the weakest Russo's Marvel film to date. Not bad mind you, but it's NOT as good as TWS or CW.

Damn man you are really negative about this movie. Every comment i see you post here is about bashing the movie.

A film relying on the general audience having seen at least a good portion of the 18 films before it, culminating in an ending that
has at least half of it's heroes dying, and and ending that the general audience isn't going to immediately know will be mostly undone, as they don't read comics
...not that risky?

Yeah...that's a pretty silly assessment. The film itself is a massive risk, and easily could have been botched in a myriad of different ways. For examples, look to every other studio that has tried to build a shared universe and failed. This film had all those same pitfalls, magnified to the highest degree due to the sheer number of characters and plots to juggle.

If this film wasn't risky, none of the Marvel films were.

As to it not being as good as TWS or CW...I won't really argue there. I'm not sure I agree, but then I consider CW and TWS to be two of the best comic films ever made. So saying it's not as good as those two isn't really a knock.

For it to be in the 80's with the amount of juggling the Russo's had to do is amazing.

84% is an unexpected drop, I hoped that it wouldn't go lower than 85%.

Can I say this gif expresses your feelings?

Add some tears running down my face because of the ending, and this gif would be 100% accurate. :funny:

Dont care how the overall score is, it’s a damn near perfect CBM. Absolutely amazing from start to finish.

The movie merely existing is risky enough. Nothing like this has been done before.

Looks like pretty much the final score now.

Oh.. I thought RT would care about the China reviews though, even if its not the other way around. :)

Hopefully there'll be that one last minute review that ticks it up to 85%. Don't know why but 85 seems so much better than 84. Lol.

This RT system is misleading really. IW is 84% with 7.5 rating. Take Wonder Woman And Thor: Ragnarok for example. They're both 92% but the ratings are roughly the same as IW: 7.6 and 7.5. People may misuderstand that critics rate Ragnarok and WW much higher than IW. In fact, they're nearly identical in terms of critical acclaim if we look at the average rating.

The same can apply for Iron Man vs The Dark Knight (both 94%, 7.7<<<<<8.6), Batman Begins vs WW (84%<<<92%, 7.7>7.6), etc.

It really does, I preferred 87% though.

Aren't there still like 100 reviews to go? Black Panther had 371 in total.
