Infinity War Avengers: Infinity War SPOILER User Review Thread - Part 2

I think AoU Quicksilver was better. His power level was spot on, while the Fox version is completely overpowered so the one time they had to stop him (in Apocalypse) it made no sense at all.

But regardless of that I don't think Fox' version played into things at all. Marvel and Disney aren't reactionary like that, which is why they are doing so well. They are just focusing on themselves and doing what they believe in, instead of flip-flopping depending on every little sign like WB has done with DC.

So much this. The power level is definitely portrayed better in AOU. Fox quicky is way too overpowered and although it makes for some cool visual effects, it's hard to get story wise.

Depends on the amount of time. Is it gonna be like like the amount of screentime Visin or Wanda got in IW or more like say Pepper or Rhoades? She could be in the sequences where they show people returning to life or something similar.

Even if it's just a Rhodes type role, it'd still be somewhat significant. He had a decent role and played a part in the Wakanda battle.

I just think it'd be wrong to "kill off" Hope but we'll see.

If I am right my thinking is it would be to add a personal dimension to getting Scott involved with the story, give him stronger motivations etc. similar to how they handled Thor in IW.

I think this is spot on. I wouldn't be surprised if Clint goes and gets Ant Man.
Man I can't wait for the original Avengers to Assemble. The shot of them plus giant Giant Man in the background would be awesome

Comics original, or movies original?

Wasp and Ant-Man were actually there from issue 1, as I recall. But I guess that it might end up being movies original + Ant-Man?

Not sure about Hawkeye. It could be the other 5 and Ant-man. It really depends on whether or not they want to try again with Hawkeye.

His character really stands out to me as one of the rare MCU heroes that didn't translate well.

The EMH lineup would be amazing. Thor, Hulk, Cap, IM, BP, Giant Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Spider-Man vs Thanos. Now that would be a fight.

Sorry, I meant the movie original. I think it's all of them plus Ant Man, Rocket, and Nebula. But I want to see the originals assemble.

To be honest I am an Avengers fan because of the movies. Outside of the X Men, I was more of a DC guy with Batman and Superman. I had read a couple Avenger books but wasn't really a fan.

The early line-up was quite unstable as I recall, changing almost immediately (I was obviously not reading the comics at that time, so I am speaking about information picked up by me later on).

But the team in the first issue was Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the villain was Loki.

Cap being found in the ice was issue 4, and he has been a prominent member since then (often considered a founding member).

The movie version owes a lot to The Ultimates, which was like a re-imagining of the team in the early 2000s. That line-up was actually the same initially (with Cap being found in the ice almost immediately), but Nick Fury and Shield are featured prominently.

Black Widow and Hawkeye replace Ant-Man and the Wasp in the movie. Hawkeye is the one who has never worked, imho. In the comics he has generally been portrayed as a wise-cracking, irreverent thorn in Cap's side. The movies really don't need an additional version of that.

Partially as a consequence, his personality and role on the team are not clearly defined in the movies. He is like a veteran agent who is a little world-weary and thinking about retirement, I guess. Who happens to use a bow and arrow.

It's interesting how this stuff evolves over time.

Any possibility Gamora stays dead (Zoe has to film Avatar and she is the lead), Stark changes Nebula back to human form and she joins the Guardians permanently?

1st: Maybe.
2nd: No Chance she gets the human form back.

Its just a weird combi that Stark is left with Nebula.
Unless something interesting happens as a result like what happened to Thor and Rocket

They made Thanos better and worse than his comic book counterpart somehow

They made him more human and relatable... but still insane.

It would've been nice if he had the obsession with Death, but I can understand why they didn't go that route.

At the end of the day the film makers and Brolin brought Thanos to the big screen brilliantly. I struggle to think of a more imposing, formidable and genuinely dread inducing villain, other than Vader or Joker. And that is high praise.

Marvel had so much to live up to, but they nailed it.

I think they left Stark with Nebula to give him a way back to Earth to regroup with the others. She can fly star ships remember.

Meh, I always agreed with Whedon on that death. I think the movie works better with it.

I wouldn't have minded it if it hadn't seemed as if Pietro's death has been completely forgotten, even by his twin sister. Except for one vague reference by Clint in CW, it's like he never existed. Humph.

I liked Fox's Quicksilver but his big scene in Days of Future Past is still his best one.

But he is not really relevant to the plot anymore, so no real need.

Evangeline has talked about her dynamic within the Avengers team so I’m guessing she isn’t dusted and is a big part of Avengers 4.

It would be a shame not to have her alongside all the Avengers. That's what people want to see. Wasp and the Avengers. Not Wasp being turned to dust.

Here's their chance to have (at least in appearance) all the original comic Avengers fighting alongside each other:

1. Iron Man
2. Thor
3. Hulk
4 .Ant-Man
5. Wasp

and Captain America.

I was thinking the same but it just occurred to me that with Stormbreaker opening the Bifrost that Thor could gather the other characters, even Tony and Nebula a lot quicker.

I think it won't at all be a mere continuing of the "fight" against Thanos. It will be a different type of story but... Yeah, please, Spidey and Panther are not going to stay dead. They are having a go at us and it will be that narratively, dramatically they want the audience to buy into the other remaining characters sense of grief. Unless everybody thinks the next GOTG film is just Rocket and Nebula?

I personally think this cements my idea even more that the "dusted" characters aren't actually dead, just trapped on Soul World. In which case, yeah, he's probably right, the actual deaths are permanent.

100% agreed, but I don't think he means the dusted deaths. I think he means the ones prior to that.

This is very possible.
