Didn't see a thread for this, even though I could've sworn it had one a while ago. Anyway, IGN has a preview of colored but unlettered art:

They were friends, brothers and teammates through all of Marvel's greatest adventures, but recent events turned them into the bitterest of enemies. In the wake of the Siege of Asgard Thor, Iron Man and Steve Rogers are brought together on the same side once more, but these great heroes can’t truly trust each other yet. They better start soon because something only the Big Three can handle is tearing their world apart. This all-new, grand and dangerous adventure will catapult our heroes into the explosive Heroic Age and will unite comics legend Alan Davis with Avengers scribe Brian Bendis for the very first time.

Those of you who got ahold of the little free Previews booklet last week know Cap and Iron Man are yelling about Cap possibly confiscating Iron Man's armor because he's not sure he can trust Tony anymore after Civil War and Thor is just like, "Knock it off, mortal b****es." Kind of insane to see Thor as the cool-headed one in the situation given his own reaction to Iron Man when he came back.

In any case, I'm a huge Alan Davis fan, so I'm pretty much drooling for it.

And here's the only other solicit we've got so far since it's bi-monthly :-)argh:):

This vital chapter will impact the lives of all of the characters and resonate in the pages of Thor for years to come! Rated T …$3.99

In Stores: Aug 4, 2010

So... discuss.

Broken Nine Realms?

And since we're on it, when did Heimdall get the ability to create the Rainbow Bridge? Anywho it looks like some Rainbow power in that 2nd issue.

:cap: :thor: :stark:

Seems like they're all about expanding the gods' powers since the relaunch. Balder actually used his light powers for the first time since Simonson's day, storms seem to bubble up on their own whenever Thor does impressive s***, Heimdall can see into people's very souls now. I don't mind because the expansions all make pretty good sense. As Bifrost's only sentry, why shouldn't Heimdall be able to move it if the need to do so arises?

I imagine Prime will somehow be related to Fraction's upcoming Thor run. That's also dealing with turmoil within the Nine Worlds. Maybe Asgard's destruction, even though it was on Earth at the time, had farther-reaching effects than we realized. Not to mention, we haven't even really seen any of the other Nine Worlds besides Hel and the barren wasteland where the city of Asgard used to reside since Thor's return brought them all back from Ragnarok.

Regardless, the real meat of the story is going to be about Thor, Tony, and Steve's relationship, and I'm very much looking forward to that. I'm looking forward to how they re-forge the strong bond those three once shared.

Looks like Thor's the voice of reason there, even Steve shut up and listened.

I can't remember what he says in the Previews version, but he doesn't really calm either of them down too much. They just shelve the dispute for the time being. Thor's not exactly 100% cool with Tony yet, either. Although, granted, he and Steve don't really seem to have any beef whatsoever. I wonder if Bendis will bring up the visit Thor paid to Steve's "ghost" (which I guess must've been a time-displaced image or something in light of Captain America: Reborn).

"SILENCE!!! Now....hug it out b***hes, we got s**t to do."

Can't say I like the teeth-look with that Iron Man armor. Very cheesy.

Oh yeah, that does look a bit silly. I didn't notice before. Oh well, it's a minor detail.

All I can say about that is CHEESE :D

It just occurred to me that while Thor isn't pissed at Cap, Cap might be annoyed with Thor. Thor plopped a whole new city right on American soil, practically inviting the US to attack him. I could understand if he thought that Thor kind of brought some of his hardships with Siege on himself. He also sort of checked out of the superhero community for a while to deal with his own baggage, restoring the Asgardians and living as a human again and whatnot. World War Hulk apparently breezed right by while Thor was off in Africa with Doctors without Borders, according to the What If? World War Hulk one-shot.

Granted, both of those make Steve look like more of a jerk than I see him as.

I was wondering what was up with Cap's "ghost" since he wasn't really dead..

Well, Cap's spirit was flashing all over time, and Thor has always been attuned to the spiritual world to some extent, since he and the other gods dabble in souls with the Valkyries and Hel and all that good stuff. So maybe Thor managed to call up Cap's spirit and flash him over to that point in time at his memorial to have a chat with him.

As far as I'm concerned Steve and Thor are a-okay with each other. It's Tony that's the black sheep of this group.

Bendis is the writer? Ugh, I'm a big fan of Davis, that being the main reason it got my interest, but that's a negative. Still maybe, though, I guess

Can anyone explain why tony is in that armor?

Yeah, I can't get over that either.

I assume it's just how Davis draws his newer armor. Is it way off mark or something?

Actually, that's one of his old armors, so it obviously takes place before he built the new armor.

It says it takes past after Siege, I thought he had the new armor by now

He JUST made the new armor. It took him a few weeks really. So he didn't start making the new armor until like a week or two after Siege, so this whole event takes place during that short time period where he hadn't created the *Guyver armor yet and was running around in his old armor Cuz that's clearly one of his old armors.

* (That's what I'm calling it, cuz that's essentially what it is.)

Ah, I see, I thought he made it during Siege and was already using it by the end of that. That makes sense, not that I really cared either way, to be completely honest

I'm pretty sure he was wearing one of his old armors in Siege, probably that one.

Tony was still recovering from his mindwipe in Broxton during Siege. The classic armor was the only one he could get his hands on at the time, so it was either use that or stand aside while Osborn and the Void did their worst to Asgard. So he put on the old armor and helped out.

Avengers Prime seems to take place in the aftermath of Siege, before everyone's settled into their new roles and Tony's created his new armor. Steve's changed out of his Cap costume, which he wore for Siege itself, but is wearing the all-black outfit he wore while he was setting up the new Avengers teams rather than the new jumpsuit with the stars that he'll start wearing for his upcoming mini-series and Secret Avengers. Thor hasn't adopted his Avengers gloves yet, either.

That seems kind of lame. The rift between the Big Three doesn't seem like it warrants a whole mini-series if it's really just Cap and Thor being pissed at Iron Man. There must be some other wounds between all of them that need healing. Hell, the last time Thor was an active Avenger, he fought Iron Man and accidentally almost killed Cap. Given that Alan Davis drew that story too, Avengers Prime almost feels like a follow-up to that story. Granted, it would surprise me if Bendis actually even heard about that story, let alone read it.

Yeah, that is a big strike against it, but I love the Big Three and Alan Davis enough to give it a shot anyway. Bendis did okay with the characters in Siege, so hopefully he'll do a good job in AP as well.
