The Avengers Avengers Trailer Discussion - Part 1

Damnit. I have NO desire at all to see Tower Heist.

You would think it would be attached to a bigger film, oh well I'm pretty sure it's gonna be attached to The Muppets and Sherlocke Holmes 2 when they're released.

i'm hoping it's with Sherlock Holmes 2, planning to see it.

hopefully we have either this trailer or a new one attached to SH2.

Will be quite silly for Marvel to show another trailer along with TDKR

I think we'll get a new trailer at the beginning of next year. I doubt that they'll release a second trailer within the remainder of this year.

I severely doubt that the third trailer would be shown in front of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. The TDKR (first full trailer) will quite likely occupy that spot, BUT it's probable that the second trailer for The Avengers might pop up in front of MI4 and 6 minute prologue for The TDKR.

I'd seriously doubt they'd wanna touch the new TDKR trailer. I think they could put it on tintin. I'm hoping for a less fanservice-y trailer this time round, give us more of the interactions between the primaries, the witty dialogue and smart banter that joss is famous for.

I think the full theatrical trailer will do those things.

We generally don't see pairings like that. Tintin is not an extreme case, but in terms of censorship classification, something like The Avengers has a mature target audience while Tintin is geared younger. Depending each country's censorship laws a problem arises when someone wants a higher rated trailer on a more general feature.

I had a case like this when an M rated trailer was printed on the head of a PG rated 35mm print earlier this year (New Zealand classifications), and the distributor emailed to request its removal.

I wouldn't say Avengers has a 'mature target audience' - I think Marvel is trying to cast as wide a net as possible with this movie, and will undoubtedly market it a good deal to kids.

The IM 2 trailer premiered with the first Sherlock Holmes, so I don't doubt that Avengers will be linked with SH2. Yes TDKR will probably get attached because it's a Warner production, but even rival studios will promote material from their lead actors as a courtesy.

Third trailer? What did I miss? I would be glad with a second trailer.

Sherlock Holmes 2 and TDKR are both produced and marketed by WB (US and internationally), so it is logical that TDKR trailer would be attached to SH 2.

Maybe Avengers trailer will be attached to MI:Ghost Protocol.

Makes sense since Renner stars in that one as well.

I see what you are getting at, but Tintin and Avengers have a much much larger overlap, both have their fair share of violence, comic book roots, adventure and both of them are going to be aiming for the youngsters and their ability to get their parents to buy them tons and tons of merch.
