So bascially this is like Civil War but worst?

hmmm lets see..
1)Flimsey and improbable situation to get the story going...check
2)Characters acting grossly out of character....check

yeah pretty much:woot:

No one has created an extra-dimensional version of Guantanamo Bay yet, so I don't think it's worse than Civil War. Yet.

where do you think Cap was gonna take Hope

I assumed in SPAAAAAAAACE.

As far as characterization goes, this event 2 issues in is totally on par with Civil War. The only reason I'm not complaining so far is because, honestly, I'm very excited to see how Hope, The Phoenix Force, Wanda and (potentially) Jean factor into all this. It could end up sucking and most likely will.:o

Such a shame, ruined what could of been a classic X-Men vs. Avengers war.

"There is no phoenix force.....read it again knowing what you know about the phoenix force"

When schism ended it seemed like scott and logan had an uneasy truce. They had different viewpoints and decided to go forth with their own views rather than attack or chastise the other side. I believe it was even alluded to in an issue of uncanny where Scott says they need to protect the school out of principle. But in AvX#2

Scott refers to logan as a lunatic and logan says something along the same lines about scott.

Come on x-men, why you gotta be like children? :o

Unbeknown to us, the mischaracterizations of all these individuals is due to [input villain] messing with their thoughts and emotions by utilizing [input plot device] to serve some greater end. This will be realized and brought to light in later issues.

And then everyone teams up and care bear stare's [input villain] into defeat.

And they all lived happily ever after.

Oh, and [input number] of people are resurrected and [input number] of people are killed. You know, to fill the quota for events.

How else do you explain the miscue's of so many?

The last time Marvel pulled that twist, we got Secret Invasion. :barf:

At least one good thing came out of this issue. Hepzibah sighting! Haven't seen her since the SWORD series.

the characterizations have not really been off to me other then Cyclops being whiney. What has hurt it to me as always is Bendis horrible dialouge in the middle of a battle ore fight. It just takes any drama out of the story for me. Plus in reality there is only like 5 characters he can really write, so when he takes on other characters he does a horrible job with them.

Just read Avengers 25 and what the hell? WTF did that have to do with AvX? These tie ins so far have been a MAJOR dissapointment and nothing but cash grab. At least have it be about the crossover and not just 2 pages of fluff which was covered elsewhere

I enjoyed AvX #2. I like how they're wasting no time getting right into the action. My only gripe was
REALLY?! Wolverine, without hesistation, the guy who's been all about protecting the kids lately, was just going to kill Hope? Just like that?? I have a hard time believing Logan would've done that.

I don't have a problem with the avengers characterization.

Here's how it should have played out:

Cap:"Scott we just detected the PF headed towards earth. A lot of smart people around me are worried. You guys have handled this in the past...do you have a plan?"
Cyke:"Cap I appreciate the call. I understand the fears people have but I believe the PF won't be trouble."
Cap:"Ok well this is your area of expertise...we'll be standing by to back you up. Don't hesitate to call."

But that (sadly) wouldn't have sold as well as all the heroes beating that ever loving **** out of each other for twelve issues.

Great second issue except for the art. Romita Jr is just awful. I can't wait for issue #5 so the art will be worth looking at.

yeah but this looks like it may destroy the planet.

I think the Avengers are just like under the realization its gotta be a "heres how it is" mode..mainly because the xmen have been acting weird and unpredictable for years...and have several supervillians (emma, Magneto, kinda Juggernaut) in their ranks.

I wouldnt trust the destruction of the planet to those X-men right now. I may not even have given the courtesy of a talk.

I do think Cap should have offered Scott to be more invovled, like Hope's escort or something. That may have worked better.

Ive never got the impression Cap has been a huge X-men or Cyke fan. It's not the reach Tony/Cap was.

Yeah, I was like, "Oh hey!" and she was only in one panel. I liked her and Warpath together :)

I actually don't have a problem with that. Gillen already planted the seed for that before Schism even started so it fits. Then Aaron brought it back up with Beast asking Wolverine to remember that she's a child and Wolverine saying something along the lines of how he'd be saving all the others by doing this.

I think it fits still.

I gotta say though, I do like how Cap's head is a lot cooler than say Civil War where he was in constant rage mode. He seems to be trying to reason with Scott but still being assertive at the same time. In Civil War, cap was really hard headed and wouldn't listen to reason.....sort of like how Cyclops is now.

Just read WatX 9 and thankfully that actually deals with AvX

I thought Scott brought up a good point. If Cap wanted to talk things out, he should have come to him and actually tried to talk about things. Instead he came with an army, ready for a war, already with his mind made up about what he was going to do and not taking no for an answer
