Endsong was that terrible series that had Land doing all the art.

Yea, never read it. I tend to avoid anything with Land tied to it like the plague. So she's not in her grave? So much for that theory.

I still think we'll finally get Jean back after this is done.

Maybe I just want to see her reaction to the state of the marvel universe since she's been dead.
Jean can't come back until Quesada & his mafia get replaced with a cre of writers who actually like Jean and would like to make her something other than the Phoenix and "that girl Cycke & Wolvie fight over". Jan Van Dyne/the Wasp can't come back for pretty much the same reason - until editorial changes in her favor.

Yeah, well, in my opinion there's no way Thor doesn't just absorb whatever energy these mini-Phoenixes throw at him with Mjolnir and shove it right back down their hosts' throats. But clearly the writers have other notions.

The writers are idiots.

How the hell did Tony even beat Erik? Even if Iron Man's armor is somehow non-ferrous, Magneto's power should still be able to affect gravity, electricity, and shrug off anything Tony shoots at him.

Seriously, I mean, I don't care what kind of armor Tony is wearing, Magneto is easily one of the most powerful mutants on the planet and I see no situation where he loses to Iron Man of all heroes. That's a publicity stunt without taking actually power sets into action. Magneto doesn't need to control Iron Man's armor to absolutely devastate him. I like AvX but my boys Thor and Magneto could use a little bit more credit.

P.S. They should've left Thor in space, because now I see no reason why he can't absolutely destroy the X-Men... Phoenix Force or not...

Maybe he's still sore from the two or three times the Phoenix nearly killed him in space...

We discover in Secret Avengers that Mjolnir can absorb the energy of the Phoenix and yet in AvX #6, all of a sudden, that is no longer true. Dumb.

Like I said - the writers are idiots.

Didn't it used to be a requirement that these big events had to actually be good once upon a time?

I'm not going to go so far as to say that I'm not enjoying AvX. I feel like it's the best event that Marvel has released in a while and it's definitely interesting in that it addresses Cyclops being a jackass, Wolverine's torn allegiance, the future of Hope, and the increasingly strained X-Men and Avengers relations. Is it amazing? No, but it's not bad either.

There have DEFINITELY been some logistical issues, but if there weren't it wouldn't be Marvel.

a long time ago editors remembered things from other books and could keep things straight

Eh, how individual characters are stacking up in the fights isn't much more than a nitpick, to be honest. I'm far more disappointed in how each side is being portrayed as totally unreasonable extremists. Cyclops' X-Men gain Phoenix-level power and they pretty much start telling the rest of the world "it's my way or the highway" within a week. The Avengers--or at least Cap--are rightfully suspicious of this sudden flurry of godlike activity from the X-Men, so their response is... to flat-out kidnap Hope so they can use her to plan some way to kill the Phoenixed-up X-Men. Never, at any point beyond the first issue, has either side even tried to just talk or show any gestures of good faith or anything, it's just violence upon violence upon more violence.

That's because Cyclops is a *****e.

this is the problem with Marvel since Civil War. People who have fought and bleed together have decided the only way to solve differences is to kill each other. There should have been no other way this played out than:

Cap:"We detected the Phoenix force is headed here and blowing up planets in the way. You guys have experience with the PF so we'll back your play."

Except Wolverine and Beast, who both also had experiences with Phoenix also said, hell no, we ain't doing that, and Cyclops has been making extremely questionable decisions lately so no **** Captain America decided to take Wolverine/Beast's advice and take Hope. I don't think it's that ridiculous.

I'm absolutely thrilled that JRJr is finished with the book and Copiel is on it now. His art is amazing as always and brings the book to a whole new level. Anyone know how many issues he's scheduled to draw? I know Adam Kubert takes over at some point if I remember right.

I actually really liked this issue, and surprisingly I think the event hasn't gotten worse. Yay! I love that the Phoenix Five haven't done a single thing wrong, and that even some Avengers are sketched by planning on killing them. It at least shows that the Phoenix Five are actually heroes, and I'm sure any of the Avengers would do the same if they had that much power. Unfortunately it is super clear that the X-men are going to go evil.

But I find that the Avengers are still behaving inappropriately. I was going to use this event as a launching point to start reading some Avengers titles... but I don't know. I mean... Wanda was the most sane and reasonable Avenger in this issue lol! Instead of barging in and punching kids in the face to take Hope against her will, she actually asked her. It's interesting that Wanda is on her side, and possibly her most relatable ally in this event.

Just pre-order the Hardcover. You save alot of money, you get the vs. series as extra back issues for it and you get a digital copy of the entire series.

Hey guys I want to get into this series, what back issues should I pick up?

There really are no back issues to this. I guess if you wanna read Messiah Complex, Messiah War (though totally skippable), and Second Coming you'll get Hope. Her story has progressed throughout X-men so you'd have to read pretty much all of Fractions and Gillens runs to see how we ended up here.

This event has been building up for years in the pages of Avengers and the X-men books. Avengers Dissassembled, House of M, Messiah Complex, Messiah War, Second Coming and Generation Hope all play a role in laying the foundations to this event. Avengers X-Sanction was a mini which served as a prelude to AvX. Thats alot of reading and may be overwelming. I think you can just start with Avengers vs X-Men 0 and go from there. Do note that the main series in a way is sometimes a bit of a cliff notes version of the story. Alot of what happens is fleshed out in the various tie-ins which are seen in the monthly Avengers and X-men titles as well as the mini AvX

Which kinda sucks because with exception to this latest issue I'd say the Uncanny and WatX tie ins have been better than the event itself.

Is this event really good? I mean in general terms, is this good? Some advertising hooked me, but from what I'm reading here, it looks... kind of a lightshow but no depth.
What is everyone opinion about A vs X? tie-ins arebetter than the main serie, right?

I think its the best crossover event Marvel has had in years, which may not be saying much considering I disliked Fear Itself, Secret Invasion, World War Hulk and Siege. This is at least entertaining although alot of the characterizations will surely have you pulling your hair. As I mentioend in an above post, the main series is like the cliff notes version of the story. It moves fast and alot of stuff is skipped but it gets straight to the point. The tie-ins flesh out the stuff thats left out of the main series and you'll find stronger and more accurate character portrayals there. Uncanny X-men and Wolverine and the X-men, so far have been the best ones.

I really hate how they've been writing Cyclops these past few years (One of my favorite Marvel characters). This series is for him what Shadowland was for my other favorite character, Daredevil. I hope someone as good as Mark Waid gets a chance to redeem him after all the AVX stuff ends.

Assuming Scotty survives this event. Then again, we all thought he was gonna die during Second Coming.
