Phoenix vs Galactus already happened....Phoenix won

Oh yeah. That was in Excalibur wasn't it? I always intended to read that issue but never got around to it. Sounded interesting though.

Okay, then someone find the force that empowers the Goblin Queen. It killed the Phoenix in the Mutant X universe. They also hinted that Onslaught could put up a challenge. What's he doing these days?

I found some scans of it online

The Goblin Queen was empowered by the Phoenix Force so that would do no good. I dont think anyone would be foolish enough to try and bring Onslaught back. The worst thing that could happen is the Phoenix could take him on as its new host and he'd most likely gladly accept. Pairing the Phoenix Force with a powerful psionic is not a smart move at all.

How about trapping it in a pocket universe?

Its intrinsiclly linked to the White Hot Room which exists outside of time and space, so no a pocket universe cant keep it down. The thing with the Phoenix Force is that it fragmented into several pieces following Planet X. Hope has a fragment and what will show up in AvX isnt the whole thing. Even if they do manage to defeat it, its still out there bc those fragments are still floating around. Jean Grey has the bulk of it and went to collect them (damn taking her forever to do it). Until all pieces are collected, an unified, it cant ever truly be defeated. Another fragment will just show up looking for another host and causing all kinds of mayhem trying to get one in the process

Well, if they actually decide to pay attention to that, we know how this ends. Jean shows up with all the collected fragments, unify it, and does something that will be the LAST thing done with the Phoenix force for all times. (Until somebody else does something with it.)

Doesn't it just say right there that galactus was weak from hunger? And even in that state phoenix said it didn't have the strength to continue this fight.

I'd like to see a real fight between them.

yeah well it also was just Rachel and not Jean as White Phoenix of the Crown

I always wanted to see the Phoenix as a major cosmic threat while Nova and Guardians were still coming out. I think battles against that and Sentry/Void would have been more interesting than the Realm of Kings stuff and Dire Wraiths. It likely would have pulled in more readership as well.

You'd think after all the crap the phoenix has done to the x-men and the world, Scott of all people wouldn't even think about "controlling" the phoenix...

Agreed. Seems a bit similar in my eyes to Civil War - the only way you can really pitch superheroes against each other on this scale is to write them out of character.

The last couple of times they've dealt with the phoenix it wasn't that harmful, though. It wasn't destructive in New X-men, and the end of Endsong made it seem like Jean was ready to have full control. I don't blame Cyclops for seeing Phoenix as a potential remedy for M-Day... it's what we're all thinking! If Jean's involved, than I'd be more optimistic, but since this just seems to be rogue fragment... I don't know.

It just kind feels like his first thought was to sacrifice his "messiah" to his new god.

The idea of Bendis giving us the 'secret history of the Phoenix' fills me with dread. Also, does Iron Fist need to have a connection to the Phoenix?

Ugh, this event has me worried.

In Chinese mythology the Dragon and Phoenix have a connection, yin and yang. To bring that to the MU is a refreshing idea. There are so many ways this could turn out.

I'm willing to bet Danny discovers a past Iron Fist crossed paths with the PF or something along the lines of that.

It's Bendis, the connection between the PF and Rand will be something like, "His power has been from the PF all along, HA and I bet you thought it was Chi or some such jargon! Love always B. Bendis" :funny:

This looks good, and although I haven't collected comics in ages I'll be interested to find out what's going on in this latest Marvel crossover event. X-Men was one of the main reasons why I got into Marvel Comics, but lately I've been more on the Avengers side, thanks to the influx of movies and the huge payoff on May 4th, so if I have to choose between the two sides it'd be a hard decision. Too bad there's no poll in this thread so we'll know what side Hype members lean toward.

That would go against everything Shou-Lao the Undying Dragon is known for, so there's no way that's happening.

Or that's exactly how it's going to happen, considering who's writing it. :o

Yes, because Bendis has always honored the established continuity instead of just doing what he wants to do.

Whew, glad we dodged that bullet. :oldrazz:

Hehe, okay.

I'm gonna go ahead and get my Told ya so in right now. :o

I'd be worried. Bendis messes with continuity as he pleases. I seriously doubt he knows about the Yin Yang connection.
