I'd hate to see a relaunch just because Marvel's managed to avoid it for 50 years. DC is the relaunch-at-the-drop-of-a-hat publisher. Marvel's the one that just cancels s*** and tries something different every 6 issues. :csad:

The Xmen line JUST got a relaunch following Schism. It doesnt need another

Silly mortal. The Bendis does not deal in "needs." The Bendis does as the Bendis will.

Marvel does relaunch comics...just not the whole line at once

Well, unlike DC, Marvel has never really needed a relaunch. It always kept things simple and avoided a lot of the convoluted **** that DC pulled off that made them relaunch things.

Also considering that Captain America, Mighty Thor, Punisher, Daredevil, Uncanny X-Men, and Incredible Hulk are at relatively low numbers, a relaunch would look silly.

Especially since we all expect Marvel to just renumber everything once an anniversary issue arrives.

Not the relaunch thing, rebooting the continuity. I know they do that now and then too, but it's always very targeted. See: "One More Day," House of M, etc.

Although, now that I think about it, I may have read into the "relaunch" comment on BleedingCool. It may have just been talking about relaunching the series without touching continuity.

Well besides WATXM and Uncanny X-Force the line couldn't get any worse. Call me crazy but Bendis could work. Expect the unexpected. A whole new set of faces to work with could possibly refresh Bendis' creative juices, it could.........aw who the f**k am I kidding?

Marvel does what I like to refer to as 'soft reboots'
they'll reboot and relaunch the series without wiping out continuity...think of Daredevil

I'm gonna remind you that you said this when, after AvX, Bendis is announced as the new writer for WatXM and Uncanny X-Force. First order of business: Luke Cage comes in to clean up X-Force's act, Kitty gets killed off again, and Spider-Woman comes in to be the new headmistress of the Jean Grey School.

or trust me...I used to read Avengers before Bendis took over...I still see "no...not like this" in my dreams

Spoiler: Kitty dies the same way. Later on, Wolverine wonders why she was wearing a quiver in the first place, but his comments are drowned out by page after page of monosyllabic interjections from everyone else.

As long as this doesn't affect Uncanny X-force I couldn't care less. Although I can't say I'm surprised Bendis would take over the X-men.He's worked in every corner of the Marvel Universe except the X-men. So I'm not surprised. I can't see Aaron getting off WATX but I can see Bendis taking over both X-men and Uncanny.

X-men: Disassembled

The X-men are attacked no matter where they are.
Xavier is in a coma
The various teams gather to figure out whats going on
Nightcrawler appears and blows up the mansion in some convoluted use of his powers.
Sentinels attack led by Nimrod
Wolverine's claws get hit with a energy beam causing it to spark
He rams into Nimrod and causes it to explode
Wolverine is ok but Xavier dies
The X-men discover that Emma is behind the attacks
There is no such thing as secondary mutations
Sebastion Shaw comes out of nowhere and takes care of Emma

The X-men gather for Xaviers funeral and figure the best way to honor his life and death is to stop being X-men.

Months later the mutant population of some super prison riot and escape...Nick Fury decides there should always be a team of X-men....Luke Cage, Spider-man, Nova, Deadpool, Warbird and Wolverine are the new team

As much as I've enjoyed those books, I would totally 100% trade them for a Bendis less Avengers.

all this means is the shift of focus for the Marvel Universe will switch from the Avengers to the X-men

I'm thinking Waid will take over Avengers and Aaron will take over New Avengers. Avengers Assemble will I think be the Astonishing X-men of the line with constantly shifting creative teams.

I'm hoping for Waid too but there's one name out there that, surprisingly, nobody has mentioned as the next writer of the Avengers - Peter David.

PAD is a fringe writer...he'd rather have a book that has a less chance to be involved in crossovers than a 'big' book

I'm not sure what I'd think about Bendis taking over X-Men. I was never an Avengers fan so his taking that team and doing as he will with them never bothered me and I eventually grew to love it. X-Men could be different but I don't know. With how bad they've been since the early 2000's it really doesn't get much worse. It's good now so it'd be sad to see it change hands, but still.

And with sales the way they are I don't see Wolverine & the X-Men leaving Aaron's hands (unless he chooses to leave). I can see Bendis taking over Uncanny X-Men and I'd actually be excited to see that happen. Not that I mind Gillen but I'd prefer Bendis there than him.

Honestly, Cyclops has been run to the ground for a decade now. I'd like to see what Bendis does with him.

Well, if JewHob doesn't want him, I hope he takes over and goes Bendis all over the X-Men. :awesome:

Bendis helped to turn the Avengers into Marvel's top team book, maybe he can do the same for the X-Men, who were the top franchise at Marvel for a long time.

Yea I also can't really see PAD taking over any high profile book. He usually just wants to do his own thing. He is way too outspoken.

Wherever he goes, it'll start selling well. The market seems to love Bendis.

But I'd totally sacrifice WatXM's greatness to Bendis if it meant Waid on Avengers. That would be a dream come true for me.
