Comics Back In Black Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I thought being a teacher fit for him as well. He definitely has the smarts for it and when you consider how much of a difference a good teacher can make in so many students lives, who fits that mold more than Peter? :)

And this is why I love spidey, because fans will always split. I for one think Peter becoming a teacher was one of the best things to happen to him. Progressed his story.
Eh, split? I'm actually in the minority on this. Most people I've talked to actually like the idea.

peter's job is to take pictures of himself doing cool stuff as spider-man, not to teach a bunch of kids.

so i liked pete's old job better.:o

taking the pictures is like a defining thing for spider-man, the transition was a little dissapointing, i think.

I see what you're saying, I just don't see why he can't do both. I mean he's still Spider-Man, setup the automatic camera and take some pics still. He still could use the money. It doesn't have to be his full time job but it never was. He could drop off pictures on the weekends, early in the morning, etc. I just don't see why it would have to be one or the other. (this is before the whole unmasking thing of course) Hey, what can I say, I'm greedy and I want everything! :word:

Yeah, Split. I like Sins Past, a lot of people don't, but I know I'm not the only one who does. Not all fans will agree about everything, and that's good, because it shows diversity.

Finally picked up #541 today. Good issue and the final page was classic with Spider-man confronting King Pin with all the jail mates watching.

Haha one thing I never understood about the Spider-Man mythos is how his pictures ever turn out newspaper-quality. How does the camera follow his battles exactly, even when the location changes from when he first jumps into the fray?

lol! maybe it's remote controlled to automatically follow him where-ever he goes when he turns it on, staying exactly 40 feet away all the time.:oldrazz: :oldrazz:

i know that after the unmasking of Spider-Man Jameson went on a rampage on how Pete took advantage of him, and made him look like a fool. But has there been any face to face confrontation between him and Pete, like Pete walking into the Bugle or something?

I think I heard there was going to be a confrontation either in Back in Black or One More Day. I can't remember though.

Actually peter has a classic 35mm Canon with telescopic lenses of varying depth. His utility belt has a sensor in it that reacts with another sensor inside his camera. Every time he passes in front of the lens , the shutter snaps. It takes his picture any time he pass in front of the camera no matter what he's doing. And the photo quality is almost always bad. Peter is usually joked on by Jonah about the quality of his photos in comparison to other photographers.

I noticed him talking about something in his belt that worked with photos, but for some reason I always thought it was just a mini camera (which I thought would then take 1st POV pictures, which might be pretty obvious). But that makes sense in a comic book type of way.

I don't collect FNSM. The title just doesn't interest me at all. However, that confrontation between JJJ and Peter has all the makings of being one of the most dramatic moments in the history of Spider-man. No doubt that I'm picking that issue up. This has probably been the moment that everyone has been waiting for since the "Unmasking" happened. I pray that Peter David doesn't screw it up.

hmm, didn't know that. thanks.:yay:

Anyone ever thought that it doesn't matter what happens here as Spider-man may reset after One more day? I'm not saying it will happen, just that it's possible.

Why are people so surprised by this?

I thought that it was rather public knowledge, long before this newsarama post, that someone was going to die in One More Day. Come on, my fellow comic reading brethren, JMS is doing his last arc on his long, long run and Joe "The Internet wants to watch me sodomized by a donkey" Quesada is doing the artwork. You think NOBODY is going to die?

Fact of the matter is that JMS is a good writer. And all the usual suspects can rear up their heads and go, "Wah, Sins Past", "Wah, The Other", "WAH". Yes, they sound like The Penguin from the 60's show. But that's besides the point. And Quesada is a good artist as much as people hate him. I'm looking forward to it and, unlike most people, I don't go passing judgement on something before it actually hits the shelves. Hey...maybe some of you guys and gals will be right. Maybe it will be another JMS/Quesada dud. Then you can have your victory thread and dance on your keyboards...whatever it is that you do to celebrate an Internet victory. But what if it's a good story? What if it's a classic story? What if it's the next Kraven's Last Hunt? We don't know anything and the more and more posters keep dismissing it because they think the beloved MJ is going to die...well, that's just being ignorant.

4Real, like I said I sure ain't gonna fret over what MAY happen, I did enough of that w/ The Other.
My new outlook is just to take things as they come. We know fatboy (JQ) loves the tease- that's what he is like. Who knows OMD could be good- maybe no one will die, the marriage will be re-affirmed and any continuity reset would be right before the crap began. Before SP- that would be ideal, but if a continuity reset does happen maybe it will be just before the unmasking ?? Maybe JQ and JMS will give the fans what they want this time.. that would be the ultimate surprise.

Personally I don’t think the marriage will be wiped, that would be a step too far.
MJ is a key part to the movie franchise, and you know how fatboy likes to keep the comics as relatable to the films as possible for the benefit of that phantom movie-goers-turned-possible-future-comic readers demographic.

...Fatboys pencils actually look pretty good in the previews.

Dunno. But don't we know Peter doesn't kill Kingpin, or even injure him hardcore? Just because he's perfectly fine in Daredevil. We know it comes before DD 92 and 93.

This has probably been stated before though.

maybe the kingpin's a skrull like everyone one else :whatever:

Hahaha. Right now I wouldn't doubt it. XD
