Comics Back In Black Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I haven't been reading this thread, so this is an "untainted" opinon of the current ASM arc...

However much I disliked the way we got to this point (i.e. the whole Civil War thing...) I am liking this story. The art is improved and enjoyable, and it has been NICE to see Spidey getting tough! He's been mislead, on the run, his family has been suffering, Aunt May is dying, injustice abounds, Captain America is dead... I can feel the intensity of the stress he is under... and I LOVE that he has put the self-reproach on hold and is going after these perps with a ferosity that Peter isn't often pushed to.

I just hope that they don't completely muck it up in the final chapter... Spider-Man, even weakened, should be able to take the Kingpin, and I hope he has a better plan than to just kill him. He's already in jail... although not powerless... so what is a Spider to do?

I know he is so mad/hurt he "thinks" he can kill, but he's thought that before and when the moment comes he can't go through with it... I hope that line remains uncrossed when all is said and done.

A GOOD ending would be Peter finding a way to totally THRASH the KP, while keeping his integrity intact.

That whole blood transfusion was something I didn't see coming... interesting...

I would absolutely HATE it if ANY of his PRECIOUS FEW main/supporting characters bite the dust... especially MJ!!! What a STUPID, STUPID move!

If they DO kill off a main character.... how much you wanna bet most fans are going to be too pissed off at the writer/editor to even get "into" the story enough to be "sad."

They kill ANY of those three, I won't be grabbing a tissue... but I might grab a gun (metaphorically speaking). Or as they say here in Texas, "get a rope... "

You know... I have just been convinced... I'm NOT going to buy the single issues of this One More Day story. We don't need all this hype generating big numbers if the story is going to be horrid.

I'll be happy to get the hardback (you know there will be one) IF it goes well... but I'm tired of wasting my money, rewarding stupid stories.

Read. Don't buy. Then reward good work... or be glad you saved your money for better things.

Oy.

First of all....the "death" would make more of an impact if it wasn't over hyped.

Second of all...listing those three ladies...and the dirt nap "wording" feels like Marvel being a little too hip and trying a little TOO HARD to get this to OMD to sell.

Why kill black cat?...who has been barely around lately....and she isn't a "typical shoulder to cry on"....so i am guessing it is either may or mj.

Actually, it could be anyone in the spidey-verse, Those three names are what got people's attention.

Well I personally hope they don't give MJ or Felicia the ax. I mean come on now, like Captivated said..he hardly has any supporting characters as it is. I have a feeling that I'm going to dislike "One More Day". Then again, I get that same feeling about every "bigtime" Spider-man storyline nowadays.

If they kill of Mj, you know peter will not be able to find the strenght within himself to continue being SPIDER-MAN . (Losing MJ will pretty much destory him)

So since May is already on her death bed, It's more than likely she going to join her husband Ben . But i guess TPTB @ Marvel are trying to creat some tention by adding fire to this mess

by adding MJ & Felicia name to the death list . (Instead of just coming right out and saying Aunt May dies by the end of "One More Day" .)

I know chances are that it will be Aunt May, but that just don't make any sense to me. I thought ASM #400 was a classic Spider-man issue and Marvel handled her death so well in that issue. Then they come up with some lame plot to bring her back and flesh her out more as a character to just.....kill her again????

Wow, this is complete bull. At this point, the only thing that's a bright hope for me is the knowledge that someday Quesada will be replaced.

Wow the only three interesting supporting characters that are still used...one will die.

Oh well.

my god, It could be anyone in the spidey-verse. Those three are the ones that will grab attention and cause panic to the fans.

My doubts--

Doubt it could be MJ. Marvel already tried this stunt before and it blew up in their face. Joe Q also said making Peter a widow would be worse than divorcing him. I think MJ's safe thanks to Quesada not wanting to age Peter.

Doubt its Aunt May, but its still up in the air. Marvel has already said that she shouldn't have died in the first place, and I'm just not so sure they will be this quick to do it again.

BlackCat? Come on. That would be so random that it wouldn't even have any impact except:dry::cmad: Shes doing her own thing in HFH. Unless that writer is done with the character I think shes safe.

Whos my money on? Flash Thompson. Don't ask why. I just have a feelin.

Possibly Robbie - they made a big deal about his being fired last week, which after so many years of him getting in Jonah's face every so often I was quite surprised at. It brings some focus back onto the character making such a sweeping change for him. He's always been there for Peter, though not necessarily someone Pete's gone to to talk in the last couple years since the bloody school cast became more of a regular feature than the Bugle lot.

I hated it when they made Pete a school teacher. Its so... not Peter. This guy should be a computer analis, working in a chem lab, or something like that. Being a teacher... man that makes him look like a dork. And if anything THAT made him look older.

Always thought, the reason the job at Tricorp or whatever it was didnt work was cos he was always running out on them - but for some reason that totally worked as a teacher, and he was able to walk in with bruises and things and get away with "yeah, guy on the subway"...

Atleast he isn't a teacher anymore and hopefully never will be again. No offence to teachers out there.

And this is why I love spidey, because fans will always split. I for one think Peter becoming a teacher was one of the best things to happen to him. Progressed his story.
