Well, I finally read ASM#539...not BAD....but far from good.
The two continuity errors stuck out like a sore thumb and seriously hindered most of the enjoyment I may have gotten from this book. The page where Peter is in the black suit is awesome...the fight scenes were great....although I didn't like Peter becoming all "Batman" on us. I understand that he's been through a traumatic event, so I'm willing to deal with it...for now.
Still, considering Peter was going by the name BEN REILLY over in FNSM, JMS's egregious error ir made even more stupid.
I honestly think he does all of this now just to anger the fans a few more times before he disappears and leaves the Spider-books for good.
I'm kind of hoping they do with JMS's run what they did to Bruce Jones's run on the Hulk and make it all one big dream where Peter was trapped on an island and living in Nightmare's dream realm or something.
what do u meen all "batman" on us
and that dream thing would be terrible
"All Batman on us" refers to him becoming all darka nd serious and moody and violent. The way Batman is. It reminds me alot of his little "i am spider" period right after his parents were discovered to be robots.
Yeah, the dream thing would be terrible, but it's nowhere near as bad as Norman Osborn knocking up Gwen Stacy off panel or Peter eating someone's head.
Spider-Man + Killing = Poor Writing...
Nuff said.
Ah ya. Didn't Peter kill Morlun? So he did kill someone

Didn't Spider-Man kill the Finisher in ASM# Annual 5? And REALLY try to kill Green Goblin in PPSM#75 (after Gobby impaled Ben)? I know he knew about Norman's healing-factor, but that was a flaming gut full of EVERY pumpkin bomb from the Daily Bugle, each one with enough force to kill within itself. So Peter has snapped on occasion and used what could constitute lethal force. As well as that, I think "folks" like Morlun are exceptions to the rule... He would never stop until either he or Peter was dead. So there are exceptions... Let's not forget that Captain America once decapitated Baron Blood.
PS: Having said all that, I agree "The Other" was spectacularly dreadful... although not for that reason.
