Comics Back In Black Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Interesting... Remember the animosity between Peter and Matt during the gang-war in the 80's over how to handle Kingpin? I think Matt wanted to do it in a more calculated fashion using the law, and Pete just wanted to beat him up and bring him in. It resulted in Matt dressing up in a Kingpin fat-suit and fighting Peter to distract him from the real Kingpin and in another issue they had a brawl (out of costume) inside a taxi. That would be cool to see them at eachother's throats over Kingpin again.

Man those were some classic arcs.

I think you're going to see a full scale war between Spidey and Daredevil as opposed to a team up.....how do you think Pete's going to feel about Murdoch allowing Aunt May's murderer (assuming she dies) to walk??
War? Murdock always gets his ass handed to him by Spidey. More like Peter hunting him down.:o

This preview made me think.... you know what would be cool? Peter Parker and Matt Murdock (not Spider-Man and Daredevil) teaming up to beat the crap out of Kingpin and destroy his empire. Ole' Fatso is no longer an exclusive Daredevil villain. He's come back to his roots and now both heroes hate him. So both should come up with a plan to take a crack at him at the same time.

Kingpin's empire has already been destroyed. Vanessa Fisk dismantled it before her death. The new up and coming crime lord is The Hood, who i believe is set to appear in an upcoming issue of New Avengers...

I assume you're not referring to Jason Todd.

This is the first I've heard of a Marvel "Hood" character, but I only really read the Spider-Man books, DD and occasionally Hulk.

No. He had a limited series a few years back which i HIGHLY reccomend, and appeared most recently in the Beyond mini series...

I liked that stuff too, but I think most readers think ASM lost direction under DeFalco following Stern's run...

Finally the hardcover for Back In Black, the first volume collects the ASM and FNSM Back In Black stories. I wonder what's the cover to be used....

And I guess the second will collect the SSM stories, which is 7 issues, which really is not much issues to be called as 'titanic' as the solicitation says

10 bucks says they end up putting the the issue with Mays last name as Fitzgerald in that TPB instead of the edited version:o

Looking back and correcting a continuity error? That doesn't sound like Marvel's editorial at all.

Just read next week's Amazing issue. I really can't wait for this to be over.

Can I ask for a spoiler summary? :woot:

Absolutely. Based on my quick scan through in the store...
Spidey and Kingpin have a bit of dark-banter. Kingpin asks if Spidey is really going to kill him, and Spidey answers no. Then he takes his top off and, as Peter Parker, says, "I am." He beats the hell out of Kingpin and wins, and then promises to kill him some other time. MJ and Aunt May make no indication to the Sensational story taking place around the same time, and Peter rejoins them, vindicated by his beating of a heavy-set prisoner. The issue ends sad, because Aunt May is still attached to machines.
Enjoy!

...What!? Peter almost kills Kingpin but decides to stop to kill him some other time? Um...that's lame. But I guess when I read this it will be better!

Thanks for sharing!

Literally, that was my exact way of thinking.
Kind of a cop-out.
Happy to share!

Marvel gives out next week's popular comics to my comic shop as "previews" a week early. It's a nice little solicitation agreement, and we're not allowed to buy them.
oh, ok!:yay:

well that was kinda dumb...
thank's for sharing either way!

Just picked up a mint copy of this weeks FNSM, and boy it looks nice.
The corners are so sharp it could slice necks.

FNSM #22 is another enjoyable issue. Betty Brant with the shotgun looks ridiculous though. But I like the chase battle between Spidey and Ero. And wow, Peter looks really evil when the birds eat Ero. I

I also learn new thing in this issue, birds do eat spiders :D

Looking forward to Spidey VS JJJ!

hmm... i wouldve hoped that Friendly neighborhood would've been along with Sensational in the HC, cause i only have the Amazing Spider-man parts and not the rest. So nobody knows if anything else will be included in the Sensational HC?

The preview looks cool and all. It's great to see Spidey finally use his speed and agility in a fight again. But come on now, how the hell is the Kingpin still standing after that? Storywise, Spidey is supposed to be furious and pissed off. The Kingpin should have dropped after the first punch.

Meh, I guess I'll take it as Spidey just toying with him for the hell out of it. Glad to see Kingpin doesn't touch him one time though.
