What's the deal?

I rarely post here but EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I drop into the community I see some sick f**ked up thread about some twisted story in the news, sometimes even multiple threads.

Why do you all feel the need to share this s**t?
I mean, really, typically it's just a link or the article pasted with a sad smilie saying how f**ked the world is.
And then all the responses are all agreeing and recycling the same responses from the other threads.
Ohp, can't forget about the guy without empathy who is all, "This doesn't even phase me anymore, what does that mean?"
I'm genuinely curious.

People think it's cruel and stuff.
They are correct, it IS cruel, but it also is life.
It happens all the time, some people really need to learn living with such news.

It's not the bad news I don't understand, it's the sharing of it in such routine ways I can't figure out.

Oh, they just want to see the reactions, I guess.

They probably figure that since they're in such a bad mood, every one else can share in being a bad mood with them.

Yea it is quite depressing. But I think it's important to know that there is some ****ed up people out there, keeps us on our toes.

I love bad news. That 8 year old who shot those two people was a hillarious story, and my Mike Myers pic as a response to it made me laugh for minutes, cause I am f'ing funny.

Bad news guys, I just murdered the OP and used his entrails to make a delicious soup.

Bad news is what we live for. Fear is one of our most basic emotions and I think from a business standpoint it's a good idea to play on that most basic emotion. That's why there are basically two kinds of stories in the news, bad news that plays on fear and then the "lite" news that plays on your heartstrings.

I think we see more bad news here because it's a scientific fact that fanboys and girls and geeks of all kind have no hearts but instead an extra brain that makes them way smarter. At least that's true for me.

Says you. Bad news just further compounds my bouts of depression thereby making me feel suicidal. I've lived through way too much bad news spanning decades long. I need some good news for a change.

It's just something to talk about. Somethings are shared because people are curious about what others may think of it, what insight they can offer. The same reasons people talk about anything really.

i find it interesting that there is to much bad news.
wouldnt it make more sense to open a thread to ask why is so much stuff happening?

this is the reality. and it sucks IMO.

It raises awareness, I guess. Honest to god, I like reading sick stories sometimes...

Yea as if no one here has had a butchers at rotten.com or steakandcheese.com. I bet everyone has.

How many responses would you get and/or discussions about good news? Not many. Unless it was announcing that Alfred Hitchcock had risen from the grave to direct Watchmen and James Cagney's corpse was going to play Rorschach.

Now that would be GREAT news. Jimmy Cagney as Rorschach would be insanely awesome.

all this bad news is nothing you want hear about but you can't help reading about it . i think it's fascinating how screwed up we really are.

One of my favorite Bond villains...especially his speech about reaching corners of the globe and influencing more people than the Sermon on the Mount....Johnathan Pryce is awesome....

Yea he is. Has anyone seen Brasil? That is one messed up film.
